Actually I try to compare the movie displays in shopping complexes. The quality was so......good. I tried to play Youtube Avatar thriller 1080p and it looks great but yet the quality can't really compare with LCD/LED displayed with media player.

It's fair to compare computer LCD with LED LCD plasma bla bla bla ?
*
Well one from shopping complexes might be using the BD player, BD original datarate/mbps is 20mbps something, excluding audio datarate IIRC, which the quality is already near-transparent(close to lossless but not mathematically)
The 1080p video from youtube has much lower datarate, you dont want to streaming 20mbps video from youtune right? biggrin.gif
i dont think anyone here can even stream 1080p video from youtube without keep buffering, unless thier connection speed is higher than 8mbps.
PLUS, the online video streaming use Constant Bitrate, which is worst compare to BD from local playback are Variable Bitrate.

Those who loyal with MPC or MPC-HC, u will be impressed with this SPlayer, it's derive frm MPC with built-in codec & optimized features, those who experienced lagging issue with MPC under Wins7 can give it a try, it is fixed with SPlayer

The rendered video quality depends on:
1. what video renderer the player are using, the best imho, MADvr, < use Lanzcos resampler, and bicubic, very tweakable.
2. what post-processing filter the video player was using, ffdshow(with avisynth filters combo = ftw) haz tons of it.

If you wanna tell us the splash player look sharper, no, sharper = more noise, plus you can see the strong "moire" artifacts appear on girl's cloth with pink stripes, resampling fail?

Anyone knows why my mcpstar and media player classic can't play the embedded subtitles of some of my MKV files? I asked in the Subtitle thread but no replies.

Thanks in advance

Gabest no longer active on mpc anymore, forked version is mpc-hc http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/
Fresh compile http://www.xvidvideo.ru/media-player-class...cinema-x86-x64/ may be buggy though

Cause there is no VFW/VCM for wmv3, they are "incompatible" with each other because AVI/VFW does not support Variable frame rate, Variable Bitrate. hacks are required to make the video play/sync properly, which is super troublesome + buggy.

OR try this from microsoft first http://www.microsoft.com/en-sg/download/details.aspx?id=6191

this ancient framework already superseded by windows vista/7 "MFT" decoder.

However you can try if you have ffdshow, or any codec pack installed, just search for FFDSHOW on start menu > FFDSHOW > VFW configuration > go to "Decoder" tab > codec > search for WMV3 > change the decoder from "disabled" to "libavcodec" or "Wmv9".
click apply and try again on wmp or mpc-hc(recommended).

alternative method: http://mulder.brhack.net/#mplayer
if both cant play the video correctly, i suggest you give up sweat.gif

i did not see AIMP3 is listed. i have been using this audio player since 2006. i have tried other audio players such as winamp, foobar, etc, but i think AIMP3 suits me better. plus it can streaming radio all around the word. You all can download it here

For video player, i prefer to use splash pro player to watch movies and series, because of its motion2 technology, the video seemed smoother especially when the object in the video move from one side to another. I prefer this video player especially when watching HD video/movies. A lot of my friends when they came to my room, they said the movies look better on my pc. When i showed them a comparison between using this player and other video player, they agreed that using splash pro (with the right setting) make the video look better.

You all can download it here (trial/ paid version)

I know that many people will just use VLC to play some songs and not use a dedicated music player.I read from a reliable tech blog(forgot which one) that it can corrupt your mp3 file and reduce its quality somehow.not much difference but for the ones really care how the song sounds just use another music player.

I have problem with VLC. How to select 5.1ch output from laptop via toslink to Home Theatre?
What is the setting? 5.1 or A52 over S/PDIF? My Home Theatre detect both of the signals as 5.1 but the sound are different especially the voice at the centre speaker.
