codec pack is good if u r geeks and know how to troubleshoot the codec problem, or related crash, by simply disable ot update the specifc codecs.

some newbie user simply insall everyting from codec pack, and prolly later will scream for explorer.exe crashed, or the video doesnt play,
coz some codecs are really buggy, there are many combination issue will make ur audio/video unplayable.
for example, strom codecs included a terribly outdated ffdshow version, 20060526, now is 2008 already lol.
this old version got atleast 30 bug are easily trigger by user, and its slower compare with current version.

the best codec pack would be mplayer/ffmpeg, or codecpack/player that based them,
for example, ffdshow and media player classic home cinema.

btw, codec pack are useless if they dont include media player classic + ffdshow + haali media spliter lol.

reinstall/repair ur codec pack,
its because the video player cant find the default dshow decoder, so vfw decoder and colorspace converter is used, which may cause the video playback will become upsidedown.

haali media splitter + ffdshow, can handle TS file,
but depend on video codec inside the TS container, ffdshow still cant playabck interlaced VC-1/h264 iirc, and no hardware acceleration too.

how about Nero showtime? intervideo winDVD

are u doing some other job while watching movie? sweat.gif

so what is the video codec inside the TS, and the video resolution? if its h264 then u are lucky,
the alpha version of media player classic home cinema version already have hardware acclerated h264 decoder, but currently its only work very strict conditions.

Nero 8 ultra edition/winDVD not cheap though, and nero dxva decoder need purchase seperately, winDVD im not sure doh.gif tongue.gif
try download a patch/update for ur powerDVD and see wheter it will solve the problem.

seriously, try media player classic home cinema wink.gif it might save alot of $$$ for buying other player.
since u said ffdshow works for u, that means the TS isnt interlaced,
the internal h264 dxva decoder is based on ffmpeg, which is same as ffdshow.

btw what tool u use to demux TS?

adjust the color from ati/nvidia control panel?

and i think NTSC/PAL/SECAM is something related to TV, video file from ur computer has nothing to do with it iirc.

if u are refer to changing the color encoding to PAL/NTSC/SECAM, they are for analogue TV only, obviously they will not work if u are using monitor/lcd for PC. sweat.gif

if the video's color doesnt look right, they are may ways to adjust the color/brightness/contrast.
1. ffdshow (codecs)
2. video renderer (overlay mixer or vmr)
3. VGA (ati control panel)
4. ur monitor.

1. highly customizable audio converter? this is the only thing i cant find on winamp.
winamp has a good audio converter too, but not versatile as fb2k one.

2. fb2k has a low memory footprint, but depend on component installed, my fb2k now eating roughly 95mb of memory.

3. no eyes candy (no fancy skinning support iirc.)

4. lots of usefull DSPs/decoders. support many audio formats natively.

5. full ReplayGain support, iirc winamp only can read ReplayGain but cant scan and apply ReplayGain to audio file.

6. no video playback support.

the only downside is(for me), its will not play ur audio file if it has weird file extension.

well, that would depend on post-proccessing filter, video codecs and video renderer used during playback, combine with some special video player eg, wmp11, mpc or zoomplayer,

is the any plug-in for klite mega codec to convert stereo to 4 channel?
*
AC3filter, Matrix Mixer or FFdshow should be able to do that, thought im not sure if they were included in klite.
For example from ffdshow audio filter, just change the "output speakers configurations" from default stereo to "quadro"

Media player classics HC. or combine with ffdshow to use more filters to perform realtime resizing, deblocking, denoising and more.

QUOTE(Chyan @ Apr 21 2009, 03:53 PM)
Anyone used Mplayer?
It's like K-lite codec pack but without the codecs.
Just one executor file. (Portability -Which is why i choose it)

I have a big problem.
It can't play any video files with chinese characters as their filename.
But if i wanna play it, it has to be renamed into alphabetical.

Anyone can help?
*
Well, the codecs are invincible, they were static-linked when compiling, its inside the executable and its large.
(tons of them, eg the FFmpeg/libav*, faad, mp3lib and liba52) brows.gif
External Win32 codecs are not included http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/dload.html

unlike k-lite, they are tons of directshow decoder and they are dynamic linked library (aka DLL)

the Mplayer is commanline-interface player, there is the GUI version but it prolly make no difference doh.gif
i can play the Japanese song with japanese charaters filename, but yeah it does not support eastern asian or unicode characters correctly,
its prolly affected by Windows locale settings,
there are some trick like changing the code page to Big5 or traditional chinese in batch file to make mplayer recognize the filename,
but im not sure since im not realy tested it,

Use MPC-HC + ffdshow + haali media splitter = guaranteed solved your problem sweat.gif
