saw a stranger vehicle using exactly same number plate as mine, which means that guy fake his own number plate. So i made police report just in case. Met that fella few times, and i even told him face to face to remove it, but he didnt.

So i made police report, and guess what...."tidak apa-apa yang saya boleh buat"

so our police jobs is ronda ronda catch ppl who dont wear helmet, safety belt, no license, funky number plate, foreigner no permit, all petty cases to get ahem-ahem....but not this straight forward problem

Unless you have that guy's IC number or his car's actual number

Nothing police can do

Takkan you nak police setup road block to stalk one fella

Double jeopardy....JPJ will say that is not the approved number but cannot act on the driver coz its criminal offence.....police say can't do shit?

Better hire a thug for RM300 and beat up teh driver until he stops using the number plate

BEnda simple macam ni pon tak tahu buat...report to JPJ. Then JPJ akan check system. Print out. Then pergi police station buat report. Kalau dapat ambil gambar kenderaan tu lagi bagus.

Pastu balik. So kalau ada apa2 masalah timbul nanti awak dah ada bukti dah buat laporan polis.

Well, my case I got saman with my old plate number. Problem the plate number I already report stolen more then 10 years ago. Went to police station n made my report n ask them to cancel the saman. As I did not keep a copy of the report so I was hoping they kept a record of it. As 10 years ago reports are made manually, no computer or online, my case is still pending coz they have to search for my report hard copy.

ok. i know making police report will be my first step, coz its my back up jsut in case anything happen. But, ur other advice on asking JPJ make print out system. I do hope u know JPJ isnt customer firendly, and infact worse than our police station. And what kinda print out i expect from JPJ. A list of registration number with the attaching chasis engine number? wudnt that be the same as my geran which im holding now?

if i use same plate as Bijan's car, sure polis terus make roadblock and call press conference asking public to help, telling everyone the kesalahan is under what what akta, and what's the punishment. they will even make an effort to sketch what the offender look like. how effective they are.

but like ts, rakyat biasa, so suck it up.

TS, since you know where the fella is:-

1) Snap photo of car and his road tax (close up pic)
2) Park your car next to his and snap photo of both
3) Email / rant to JPJ and media (attach photos)

Win.

No one is holding gun to your head and force you to go to JPJ. If you have problems dealing with them in the past does not mean they going to be rude to you now.

You can simply tell them that you saw a vehicle with the same registration number as yours and tell them that you have made a police report about this and would like to ask their simple advice what you should do next. Then they will check in their database is there any such number duplicate in their system. If no, then tell them what should you do next. It is as simple as that.

How old are you btw? 18?

Take a pic of his mug and the car with the fake plate number. Go pulis make report, attached those with a copy of your car registration card and those pictures. Go to JPJ, forward them the report as well.

if i use same plate as Bijan's car, sure polis terus make roadblock and call press conference asking public to help, telling everyone the kesalahan is under what what akta, and what's the punishment. they will even make an effort to sketch what the offender look like. how effective they are.

but like ts, rakyat biasa, so suck it up.

I once saw a car with the same number plate as mine. 1st time my mum saw a car from opposite direction using same number plate as me.

I ask if she is sure, she said yes, so made a U-Turn to give chase but couldn't see him after that.

So thought my mum see wrongly or so.

So 1 day, I saw him right in front of me when I turn into a corner, it was half bald guy about late 40's. I couldn't believe my eyes, so when I wanted to chase again it went missing.

So since it came out from my housing area. Means he is staying nearby.
Guess what? Is the same car and same colour Saga BLM using my number plate...

If anything kena, I got no excuse except a photo of the driver was taken. I end up did pay up 1 summon which I thought it was my dad since he was in KL working. 2.30pm kena summon at KL for beating redlight. At that time, sometimes my dad drives my car. So we asked each other and couldn't remember but for sure is not me as I don't drive out during lunch.

Paid RM100 then after few weeks only saw this guy using my number. plate

U should take pic of his road tax that will show the correct plate number, unless its your car that has the fake number lol.

Then report to JPJ.

*
nah...im not 18...and actually i deal a lot with JPJ coz its part of my work and business. But yeah, they dont hold gun to my head, but they at least will waste 3hrs of my time...at least..and in the end, i might not get anything out from it.

Ya, so no escape if he done anything wrong. I will be the one to blame. I went hunting for him at my housing area but couldnt find and didnt see him already. Maybe he saw my number plate then change to another fake one...

The thing is, he uses front my number plate, rear is his or maybe other people's number plate.

Then you should be fully aware of what's the implication if that car number was involved in any sort of crime.

Few hours of your PRECIOUS time, vs explaining to police when something happened (which I can assure you, will take a lot more of your PRECIOUS time)

if i were you, i would ask the police officer 'if the guy use the car with the same number plate as mine to rob a bank, so you will trace back to my car or his?' this is why most of our cases are categorized under isolated cases

theres a systemic problem with our number plates

little do people know that somone can create a plate without registering with any enforcement department

therein when the cop says nothing they can do, its actually quite right because the said number plate created has no infomation backing to it

the way is to persue that all number plates need to be registered in JPJ and polis

it is, consider that the system in Malaysia allows me to fake any plate i want because it only needs RM20 to make a plastic plate. there is no restriction to it. in this case its great he admits his fault, but lets say i dont, and you saw me on the road, you dont know my address.

3. ask workshop make the same plate number
4. night time go to this car and replace the plate number
5. call polis

so in the system that u propose, any new plate (physically) made, must go through police and JPJ. I dont know if any country actually do this system. But i suppose the responsibilities shud be on the enforcer to catch those that fake number plate. Not us public to endure extra cost or hassle in replacing damaged plates or anything like that

so in the system that u propose, any new plate (physically) made, must go through police and JPJ. I dont know if any country actually do this system. But i suppose the responsibilities shud be on the enforcer to catch those that fake number plate. Not us public to endure extra cost or hassle in replacing damaged plates or anything like that
*
personal safety and safety of the people are both public and enforcers responsibilities not only theirs. in this case removing the idea that someone can randomly create plates is the key to ensuring that someone doesnt fake your plate. consider this, if i fake your plate all i have to do is go to my nearby shop ask for random numbers and wallah, what can you do to catch me? nothing.

would it be efficient to ask enforcement officers to go around each neighborhood to find 1 faked number plate? no.

you would never know i faked it, untill i do something bad about it which is too late. but consider that now faking plates need to go though the black market instead of just the shop around the corner.

do you think it would be safer for u?

She from khidmat pelanggan and she took down the details and will pass to bahagian penguatkuasa & siasatan. Ask me to forward the police report to her. Will call back next week to check on the status of investigation

first, go report to polis to record statement that you are the genuine owner of the plate number. Then you take the report to JPJ to ask JPJ to kao tim for u lor. Polis can't cross path to do JPJ job. Only if that fellow use the number to do crime, then it's polis mia job liao

One sided story. Since you've met the guy few times and still have time to rant in /k, I don't believe in your story. Just a made up story to defame Malaysia enforcement.

Cool story brah

i think you have to report to JPJ. not police.

other than your claim that his plate was fake, where else do u have proof? did you record his admission of guilt?

what if police go arrest him and he claimed he never use the car on the road.

Isnt that considered illegal/criminal impersonation?

Since the police cant do shit about traffic problems, i suggest they stop issuing traffic summons all together.

Well that's where the "police investigation" part comes in, which i dont see in this case.
