Met one designer who has been working for more that 30 years. She's an ex-PETRONAS:

Job Title : Freelance Graphic Specialist
Job Description : Any graphic design
Years spent working : 7 years
Industry : Graphic
Tenure : Freelance
Employment Level : Specialist
Experience before joining : 27 years working in PETRONAS
Age: 54 years old
Highest paper qualification/ education background : MCE
Income : RM60,000 - RM300,000 per year (after tax)

How I imagine I can work most of the time at home like her and maintained that kind of income smile.gif

My head couldn't wrap it yet. A graphic designer in an oil company making the same money as the senior reservoir engineer? shocking.gif

Not IOI. Used to be a msian company but has been taken over by agriculture singapore based company.

I am currently working with a heavy transportation company but not really involved in engineering, more on site coordination and project management.

My colleague advised me not to put lower than current salary because this might make the interviewer think that I cannot withstand my current work pressure etc....and effect the interview result.

Wonder what my colleague told me is true or not?? rclxub.gif

ps;  im okay to start with lower pay and gain experience in plant maintenance and engineering

Well, if you are ACTUALLY willing to have a lower pay at your new job, in contrast with the norm, then just state it lower. You can always say that you are happy with your company, but you always want to join them or their industry. hmm.gif

do you have to be excellent in uni to get a high starting salary?
*
There's more factor than excelling in university (academically). From my experience, it does increase your chance of getting hired, but not necessarily increase your starting salary (given that fresh grads don't have any real working experience). hmm.gif
