Job Title : Sr. Software Development Engineer
Job Description : Build software interface for machinery
Years spent in company : 2 years 5 months (only 6 months in current post)
Company : Local
Industry : Automation
Tenure : Permanent
Employment Level : Sr.
Experience before joining : 0 years (joined as fresh graduate)
Highest paper qualification/ education background : Degree
salary : RM 2400 > RM 2500 (after probation) > RM 2750 > RM 3162.5 (after promotion) > RM 3213 (current)

Why i like the job?
i. doing the thing i'm interested in
ii. great sense of achievement
iii. chance of traveling oversea for setup purpose

Why i dislike the job?
i. always rushing for project
ii.  imbalance life style

When compared with the newly joined engineer, their starting pay after probation is RM 2800, which make me feel i'm kind of underpay. Is the pay for senior considered normal in the current market?

Since promoted as senior, my manager started to delegate resource management related task (assign projects to junior, etc) to me. I do realize that this is the chances for me to learn about management, but most of the time i find myself not able to focus on projects assigned to me due to the distraction.

Frankly, i'm enjoying working here since there are things (technical, management)  that i think i can learn here. If the workload can be reduced, that will be the best. Still, if the pay does not match with the workload, i'll still consider leaving the company for a better wages.

Any advices from the anyone that has been working for many many years?

ermm..m civil engineer.

if u feel d pay does not match ur workload. hav discussion wit ur big boss. either they appoint more staff or increase ur salary. giv them facts n figure wats d current market rate. anyway, u jus dinaikkan pangkat, dun think its wise to ask for another increment.

usually as u go up d ladder, d more u go for meetings n giving out ideas or management rather than designing.
