Regarding your problem, you need to calculate like this. Else you consider "Rugi"
1 month = RM2000+RM1700 = RM3700
1 year = (RM3700 x 12) + bonus if got.(example RM2000) = RM46400
Average 1 month salary you got is RM46400/12 = RM3866.

So to jump, you can demand 20% that is RM3866x1.2 = RM4640.
Reason is : We calcute income base on TOTAL INCOME PER YEAR, not per month.. No meaning if basic you got is hight, but total income per year sikit.

Real example from me.
Basic RM3632. No allowance. But BONUS 4 month average. when i jump here is what i request.
(RM3632 x12)+Bonus (RM3632x4) = RM58112
Average per month = RM4842. (so if i jump, my next salary must be more RM4842. elso no need to jump)
What i get was RM4900 + 200 allowance..(jump to A company March 2014, Jun 2014 i jump to B company with basic RM6000). Same formula i use event just move to new company for 2 month, and they willing to pay RM6k base on fact.

I put reason A company give 1 month bonus.
((RM4900+200)x13)/12 = RM5633 average per month.
Jump RM5633x1.2=RM6760 (but B company give 6k since i just 2 month jump from A company)

Start 1st job November 2009.. untill now experience almost 5 years.
Nature of company & position :
consultant(fresh entry)->Manufacturing(IT engineer)->Bank(System Analyst)->MNC (Senior Engineer System Analyst)->Bank(Executive).

I jump many time,but my job scope still the same. Hence my experience not wasted.
2009 - RM2437 Manufacturing
2010- RM2487 Manufacturing
2011- RM3200 Bank
2012- RM3488 Bank
2013- RM3637 Bank
2014- RM6000 MNC->Bank

If increment every year is 3%, if starting salary is RM2437 when i will get RM6000?
that y i jump.. less 5 year get RM6k.

Next target 10 years RM10k (Project Manager/ Advisor)

I just want to ask, is it possible for service engineers to earn above 5k basic ? let say, in 3 or 4 years time ?

engineers get 10-18k... (5-8 years exp)
senior engineers 18-24k... (8-12 years exp)
team leads (3-5 reportees) 24-30k... (12-15 years exp)
managers (10-20 reportees) 30-40k (15-30 years exp)
the list goes on

retail industry...
you could go from Junior exec to manager in like 3-5 years
but does a retail manager make 10k? or more?

so how do you gauge?

If you are willing to be away from family, with limited phone calls, email & internet. And also limited space for you to move around.
Started your day at 5am, and all the way until ~10pm for meeting, report, etc.
If you get hurt during work, you are 4 hours away from nearest hospital. If something awful happens, you have no where to run other than jumping into the water.
