For the previous 2 months, i was given OT pay due to the amount of OTs I have in this field ( it was said that previously there are no OTs, therefore I was the first group ) I even worked on weekends sometime.
With the OT at least, there's compensation for me working 11-12 hours a day. Sometimes even 14 hours but in this field, I had to and at least there's OT.
But recently, the account department said that they wont be giving us OT pay anymore cos they read it somewhere that salary above 1.8k will not be getting OT pay. It affected me considering that I OT a lot and i got OT pay for the last 2 months.
But I notice some of the people here with salary 3k or even more than 8k have OT pays.
The question is, can I get OT pay? or I cant cos my salary is more than 1.8k. Need answers!

Hi,
Sorry. Just sharing what I know. If your basic salary is below RM2000, you are still considered as an employee under the Employment Act 1955. This act covers employees of whom listed in the First Schedule and those whose basic salary are below RM2000. It's basic salary, not including your allowances. Hence, according to the act, you are eligible to be paid an OT as long as you work more than 39 hours a week (the IT then be paid according to when you have to work long/extra hours).
For people who earned more than RM2000 but still be given OT for their extra hours, that's the company policy. I believe these companies have their way of compensating employees for the extra hardwork.
I hope I have answered your question.
Thanks.
