Just some update recently:

Years spent in company : 10Months now

Tenure : Permanent
Experience before joining : 2 years at a MNC subsidiary within same industry and skillset but different job scope
Highest paper qualification/ education background : Degree. Related vendor certifications (going for more soon)

Salary: ~RM4.5k + usual benefits

Overall I am happy with my current salary (more is always better) but my living expenses are quite low so I save quite a lot. Hoping to get an increment/promotion in another 1 year. Overall the pay is slightly more than my previous one but at least it is not 'seasonal' (e.g claims for traveling)

My last post was in July 2014. Climbed up the ladder a bit last month.

Highest paper qualification/ education background : Degree. Related vendor certifications (still going for more)
Salary: ~RM6.2k gross + usual benefits

12hour shift with high-low week rotation.

Alternate hours. It's something like High-Day, Low-Day, High-Night, Low-Night monthly.

What kinda network engineer? Goyang kaki or firefighting type?

My seniors working more than 5 years are earning 8k RM onwards. More if they are specialized into a certain skillset. Most have CCNP (which is too common nowadays).

I think I'm doing just OK ... definitely more room for increment but not sure if I'd want to further enhance my current skillset (I'm doing Cisco tech mainly so CCIE is next) ... or just go all rounder and get certifications from other vendors.

Hi,

Don't wait .. go seek it. Ask your Manager/HR if they have training plans or what not. Also please make sure to put it to use when you have obtained the knowledge (not cert!). Personally I am OK to pay myself if the cert/qualification will be a core skillset for the next 3-5 years.
