Hi Bro, I hope that you're not offended by any of our comments/queries here.
Please bear in mind that I'm not here to question the authenticity of your claims on the use of a higher profile tyre, but more of a query that stems from my curiosity smile.gif

To be perfectly honest with you, I'm actually quite keen to emulate your choice of tyres (215/50/R17)...it's just that I'm puzzled that you've not hit your fenders with a full load of 5-passengers.
Were you making the 'S' during the drive over humps?

Many thanks in advance for taking the time to answer.

I just provide my comment base on my experience only. Thats all, but still it will be good if u seek advise from SC and the tyre shop to provide u better feedback.

stock rim is wide enough for this size. Sooner later everyone keep increasing the profile and the width of the tyre = installing MPV tires la biggrin.gif

QUOTE(izputra @ Dec 24 2013, 02:31 PM)
Externally no huge different other than the LED side mirror, redesign front grille & fog light

Internally, of course the 6-speed transmission, reverse camera, bluetooth head unit (some with DVD/GPS) & some cosmetic touch-up.

These extra features in the 6-speeder however came with extra 4k in initial price & of course a higher maintenance price due to the 6-speed gearbox which requires the fully synthetic ATF. 4-speed ATF is around RM90, but 6-speed ATF is just below RM300 if i'm not mistaken. Anyway, u only need to change ATF for every 40k km only..so that extra amount of maintenance price doesn't do much damage to our pocket i believe.

If u are looking for a 4-speeder, try to find a CBU unit like mine & epo. So far (just 3 months short from 4 years of owning), my car got no problem whatsoever. Thank God.

Worth to mention that I've test driven the 6-speeder before & i able to conclude that from a standstill, the 4-speeder Forte is a drag king between these two cars. 2nd gear alone can accelerate up to 120km/h (2.0SX) with ease. However, the 4-speeder can't beat the smooth gear changing of the 6-speeder (close gear ratio due to extra gears)

In term of fuel consumption, i strongly believe the 6-speeder is a winner in highway drive. But in town driving, it might be the other way round because frequent gear changes introduce power losses. However, the losses is not that significant & can be ignored.

I have just bought a 2011 1.6sx recently for 60k, roughly 30k milleage, just want to share abit here smile.gif

From acceleration/initial pick-up perspective, I will have to agree to izputra where the 4-speed does better than 6-speed.

But after test driving five 4-speed , I found:
1. one with (the infamous) brake switch problem
2. two with excessive trembling (not sure if the dashboard or the engine)
3. other 2 are fine

And tested three 6-speed ones, nothing much to complain.

So considering paying about 10k extra (which translates to about extra RM100 installment per month), I get :
1. 2.5 years left on the 5-years warranty
2. 6-speed gearbox with better FC
3. lower milleage on the vehicle
4. rear-view parking camera (trust me this is a must have!!)
5. the previous owner installed a sick looking sport rim

Hope that through my sharing you are able to make a more informed decision. Looking forward to your new Forte thumbup.gif

I don't think have to worry about tyre harden. Yes, it will be harder than brand new, but not much due to tyre lifespan supposed to be 5 years.

g88 is right, if you drive often and change about 2 - 3 years once, then should go for it smile.gif

btw, got address ah?

a quick question here, i just changed my 4 tyres but the foreman found that all my rim dented quite seriously during balancing.

is it necessary to repair it? the foreman said better change a new set becoz repair 4 rims isn't cheap and wise. what will happen if i dont repair or change it?

if it is better to change a new set then what are the factors should i take into consideration when selecting a new rim?

appreciate your advice

Bro, I'm facing the exactly same issue u having now.
My rims 3 out of 4 bent (bengkok).

Repair for reach rim cost 70-100 depend on how serious it is. The shop offer my top up RM400 trade in my rims and swap with same Forte 17" stock rims (used but condition good).

I was thinking if using same stock rims, the RM400 maybe not worth to spend, because driving style, road condition, stock rim quality....high possibility the same issue repeat again.

My target is downsize to 16" rims, but need to change tyres will cost a lot...
