Bro Epo or anyone else who knows..
Where is the KIA Spare Part in Segambut that everyone talks about?
I'm planning to head there for Air Filter Element and probably Air-Cond Filter Element as well.

Pls help to provide me with the name of the shop and location (preferably an address searchable using SPEEDNavi GPS).

Any tips on pricing and/or brand-of-choice would be deeply appreciated as well.

Thank you smile.gif

Honestly, price is cut throat.. but the pros is we get ori parts.
Very well noted. I'll drop by to check then, nearest should be Segambut. Honestly there is a significant difference between ori and OEM. I drive proton also I use ori parts. Can very much feel it.  smile.gif

Neway, thanks for the replies guys.. appreciate the spirit..  notworthy.gif

I owned the 6 speed . The aircond is not too cold.My friend also complain the same issue.  Air cond distribution for Back seat passengers not very good.
Tyres noisy and also low quality sound insulation materials used. Warm driver leg area (can feel engine heat)  & Hot rear boot (due to exhaust below)
Apart from that, no issue so far.

If anybody has air-cond issues and is willing to try out a possible solution/improvement method (that is to insulate/wrap a part of your car's air-cond hose), pls drop me a PM.

I can help you guys with the basic wrapping for a minimal fee of RM50 smile.gif

Thus far, I've partially wrapped my own Forte's air-cond hose + an Elantra + a City.

Wrapping with solve the issue of hot aire from our forte aircond ? Where is your location ?
*
Nope, if it is hot/warm air coming out of your air-cond (even after having turned your air-cond settings to cooler settings) then I'd recommend for u to get it checked by an air-cond specialist.

Based on my own and friends' experience..the few advantages of wrapping the air-cond hose would be:
1) air-cond air cools the car faster (this also depends on the UV Tint Film which you use).
2) instead of turning to 21C~23C (i.e. Air-cond temperature degree setting), they now keep the settings between 22C~23C.

Oh..and I'm living in Kelana Jaya, PJ.

Anyone knows which SC in Klang Valley attend to issues (brake issue in my case, when I hit the brake, occasionally the pedal doesn't bounce back to the original position) on a weekend?

I called up a few SC but they don't attend to matter like these on weekends. Such a hassle.
*
Sounds like the brake pump of your vehicle is not working properly OR you may have a faulty brake hose..
It could also be due to damages to your brake pistons, but not so likely because it would require at least 2 or 3 or all 4 brake pistons to be at fault in order for your brake pedal to act this way.

Then again, it could also be as simple as your brake pedals getting stuck to an object at your footwell (e.g. car mat/carpet, ladies shoes, water bottle, etc.).
I know it sounds stupid to some ppl, but sometimes it really is the cause of the problem...just saying wink.gif

The air cond blows warm air accasionly only . Normally I overcome it by lower the temperature then the problem solved.
Any 'side effect " to the airecond system if wrap the host ? if not why Naza/Kia does not do that as it does not cost much ? TQ
*

[/quote]

It's not entirely clear to me when u say, "the air cond blows warm air occasionally only" because by occasionally here could mean pretty frequent or really rare and only during extremely hot weather conditions, etc.

However, based on your following sentence, whereby u said that u were able to resolve the 'warm air issue' by adjusting the temp settings, I can only presume that the warm air scenario which u have described above happens during the initial starting of your car after having parked under the hot sun(?).

In any case, for a safe bet (and also depending on how long the A/C service interval is), you may want to get your car A/C system checked by an air-cond specialist just to be completely sure.

On another note, and also like I've mentioned earlier, there are no negative side effects whatsoever after having wrapped my car's A/C hoses.

Also, answering your question as to why did the car manufacturers do not wrap A/C hoses as they are at a minimal cost.. Well, I do not know for sure. But I know for sure that every cent counts when u mass produce a car. It's akin to asking why car manufacturers do not factory-fit better quality parts (e.g. Car Seat hooks, brighter cabin lights, footwell lights, etc.) even if the cost between the parts are marginal.

I hope the above answers your question smile.gif

Normally such recall procedures would be limited to certain production batches.
Care to share the Model (including year of make and month of purchase) of your Forte?

Freaking nightmare dealing with Naza Kia SC. Bloody incompetent people. Remember my brake issue that I mentioned couple of pages back? Turns out to be brake servo need replacing on a 8 month old car. QC at its best.

Car was bought under AZ so they have 3 first service discount package which you only need to pay 20% of the engine oil. Sounds good? Distance from house to AZ is about 35 KM (ok what since I can get around RM 60 shaved off my service bill if I service with AZ). My biggest regret is servicing with them.

Sent my car to Glenmarie (which is less than 5 KM from my house). They checked and told me that in their system, my 1K & 10K services was recorded as (1k & 20K) by AZ. They can't claim warranty for me because in the system, the warranty is void due to skipping 10K service despite showing them service receipts.

Now, I need to send back the car to AZ which is miles away to let them check and drive back (or put there which is not an option because I need to use the car) because they do not have brake servo in stock. They need to take out, document it and send for warranty claims.

After the stock arrived (which no one could estimate the duration, might be weeks meanwhile continue driving with failing brake servo), I need to drive there again for replacing.

Hi Tifosi, I truly sympathize your situation that you're going through.
I hope this gets resolved as quickly and painlessly as possible, now that Motorman from AZ is ready to lend a hand. Motorman appears to be a good and genuine guy.

Pls keep us posted on the progression of things Bro Tifosi.
Thanks.

When u turn on your car, did the instrument panels light up? If they do, it means your batt may not be flat out, but prolly insufficient charge to kick start your car.

Solution Options:
a) get a friend, preferably with a 1.5L and above vehicle to help with jump start procedures.
b) take Bro Epo's suggestion and call your insurance provider(?) for help.

NOTE - Pls also check to ensure that your key fob (a.k.a. Remote Keyless Entry/Start) is still working and doesn't have a flat battery too. You can find out by using the remote to lock/unlock your car from a distance (say 10 meters).

Good luck!

agreed, the 2.0 should have better pick up & xtra power.
Should consider highway 70 - 30. as i stay in sg buloh. XD
They have full kia service record

So taking the 2.0 would be a better for getting xtra hp, theta engine ?

Pls don't forget the yearly Road Tax difference between a 1600cc and 2000cc engined car smile.gif
One is RM 90 and the other is at RM 380++.
And if am not mistaken, a higher CC'ed vehicle will have some minor calculation effect on the Insurance Premium as well..(if am not wrong lah. So pls don't shoot if I'm mistaken) smile.gif

Hi guys,

Just looking for some advice.

Am reaching 50K soon (2 yrs) and will need to change my stock Silverstone Atlantis tyres. Hv survey the following tyres:

Michelin PS3 - was quoted RM 425 per piece (somewhere in Kota Kemuning). dont know whether old stock or not. Sound very cheap.
Michelin Premacy 3ST - was quoted RM 390 per piece by same shop. Ask a few shops also cannot get this pricing. Is it too cheap? Scare either old stock or "fake"?
Continental MC5 - was quoted RM 360 per piece.
Yokohama CD2 - was quoted around RM 340 per piece

If Premacy 3ST price of RM 390 is true thinking of taking it over MC5. What u guys think? If given preference of the above 4 tyres. Am looking for something better than Atlantis with good noise reduction / comfort and reasonable performance over wet condition. Not into the speed thing so performance not that important. Safety and comfort is better.
Another thing I seem to detect that if I were turn my steering all the way when negotiating a roundabout, I seem to hear some harsh some. It is not loud but I nvr hear it b4. Have u guys experience it? What could it be? It sounds like some thing rub against something sound. Like friction sound.

TQ.

Thanks in advance.

true...lol yeap adjusting back to msian policy..they always can say what they want with their own rules and regulations

anyway to everyone:

i went to kia SC yesterday to change the bulb...they tested my battery too (since it's free with some promotion) but i didn't ask for it...
so happen right after that my car had problem starting...i brushed it off and drove away..

today it happened again..
thus i went back again to ask about it, also because my lamp wasn't placed properly...and they told me my batt has to be changed..

i guess i agree it has been so long and the previous owner probably hasn't change it since she bought it in 2011, but what are the chances of it failing right after they check it? sleep.gif"
good thing they don't have battery stock atm...i'll just change somewhere else probably cheaper haha

any ideas what may have caused this?
*
Before you get the battery changed, try checking on the terminal fasteners first.
Look/Test and determine if it has gotten loose (either maliciously by SC or by natural causes).
Have come across cases where SCs 'overlooked' to fasten those terminals properly.

Edit: Fyi, car batteries often reach their EoSL in about 1.5 to 2 years (depending on usage and quality of the product).
Recommended brands? I'd say Century, Yokohama, AC Delco. Personally, I've only used Yokohama, Bosch, and GP prior, and I give Yoko the thumbs up. The rest are purely based on hearsay from friends (petrol heads) and forums smile.gif

Wow! That's good to know.
Pls do share the price of the Yoko batt once u have them and also where they come from (i.e. - local Malaysian made or imported from somewhere else).

Also (as bad as this may sound like I'm trying to turn u into a lab rat) pls try and check to see if the Yoko batts fit onto the Forte's batt base plate/holder smile.gif

Meant for the non-mechanically inclined reader, the checklist below highlights some potential problem areas to look out for in the limited time you have to examine a used car. Remember to inspect the car in broad daylight and not in the evening or at the night. A tip from the pros: Putting a Piece of cardboard under the engine after the test drive will help show fluid leaks. By the time, you have gone through the checklist, you should know the condition of the car at least as well as the owner does.

Exterior Inspection

Are door edges rusty or torn?
Do the doors, bonnet, and trunk open and close freely? (Problems here may indicate previous accident)
Are bumpers dented or rusty? Are they level?
Is the paint on the different panels of the same shade?
Is there any rust or hole at the bottom of the trunk and side wells?
Are the rubber parts and seals cracked?
Are tires bald or cracked or bulging?
Are the rims rusty, bent or cracked? Are they all the same?
Are any headlamps or signal lamps broken or cracked?
Is the exhaust system rusty?

Engine Inspection

Is the engine clean?
Has the engine been modified? If yes, why?
Look at the underside of the bonnet. is paint blistered?
Check fluid levels. Any leaks?
Are the V-belts frayed or cracked?
Is the radiator corroded?

Interior & Electrical Inspection

Is anything torn, broken or patched?
Is it rusty under the carpets?
Can both front seat be adjusted?
Is the dashboard cracked?
Is the windshield chipped or cracked?
Do all windows open and close?
Turn the steering left and right. Is it okay?
Depress the brake pedal. Does it feel right?
Depress the clutch pedal. Does it feel right?
Do the headlights work?
Do the windshield wiper work?
Does the air-con work?
Do the safety belts work?
Is the interior of the boot rusty?
Is there a jack and a spare tyre?
Are the threads on the spare tyre worn out?

Test Drive (Allow 30 minutes)
Switch on ignition but don't start engine.

Temperature light on?
Oil warning light on?
Charge warning light on?

Start the engine

Are all  instruments and gauges working?
Depress the clutch several times. Any noises?
Switch off the engine. Does it restart?
Test the hand brake against the engine Works?
Pull forward. Get out of and check for leaks on the ground.
Put the car in reverse. Does it work? What about reverse lights?
Drive away. How does the car ride? Soft or hard?
Is acceleration smooth?
Any noises or vibrations when accelerating?
Any unusual engine noises or vibrations when cruising?
Any problems changing gears?
Drive up a hill. is the power okay?
Drive along a long wall. Hear any unusual sounds?
Any noise or vibrations when deceleration?
Make two tight 360 turn each way. Any noises?
take your hands off the steering. Does the car run straight? ( Warning: try this only in a deserted car park)
take you hands off the steering and brake. Does the car run straight? (Warning: try this only in deserted car park)
Go over a few bumps. Is the suspension okay?
Negotiate sharp corners. Is the handling okay?
Let the engine idle for a few minutes. Is the temperature stable?
Parallel park the car. Is the steering loose or tight?

Post-Drive Inspection

Open the bonnet. Hear or see anything unusual?
Does the engine seem too hot?
Does it restart when warm?

Most important of all, check that the chassis and engine numbers tally with those in the registration book. One last piece of advice: Never ever buy a used car on impulse-shop around.

really really thanks for that list and explaination.
but i dont think myself cant check that.

Great list, though not entirely practical due to time constraints and other miscellaneous factors.
However, a few other tips would be exhaust smoke (no smoke?, blue smoke?, white/black smoke?)
Also, body panel wave patterns and gaps between them are good indication of repair works.

I'm willing to help you out on this (depending on the time and location) 😊

Hi, anyone know what is the possible caused for the below problem:

I installed the Q-Max voltage, then when start engine and once is started, it'll auto turn off....after tring few times, then only back to normal. And it is not always happen.....

I'll bring back the car for checking, just wants to have some heads up what could be the possible caused
*
The "auto turn off" situation which you've described wasn't something which happens before the installation?

If the above is true, it sounds to me as if you may have bought a defective Q-Max unit by accident.
