looking forward to get MR3420 V2 to go with my E398. Where is the best place to buy this? I am located in KL. Last week I went to All IT and saw MR3420 at RM88. But no one in the shop can tell me if it is V1 or V2. Is this V1 or V2 is purely firmware related or is it hardware?
*
The router on the first post is V2, V1 looks like a conventional router with rectangle shaped.

Hi all. I am using tp link 3420 and tp link ma260,the internet never speed up to 2mbps and the area is Cyberjaya. I saw most of the users using Maxis broadband up to 20mbps. How to configure it to maximum speed? Thanks in advance.
*
MA260 is just 21mbps/HSPA modem which can hardly go beyond 8mbps, 2mbps is average speed.
Users with 20mbps are probably on DCHSPA/LTE network already, which mean you sim card must support DCHSPA/LTE, your area have high speed network coverage and you must use modem and router that support aforementioned high speed network.

Huawei af23 stable or not?
*
Stable i think, but wireless range is shorter cause no antenna, lack many advanced features, like IP reservation, much hotter, ect.
while im using e369 + TLMR 3420 which sometime the 3G modem will disconnect itself without any reason whatsoever sweat.gif

The MR3420 hardware is not good anyway

If you want 60Mbit shared, then use reverse tethering from your PC to your router tongue.gif
Google for it.

Paid solution, I heard some D-LINK router are great now. Or maybe you want to play with AF23
*
which one? DWR 921 or the latest Portable AC LTE router? brows.gif
either one seems good too, but the AC router looks very cool tongue.gif

Haven't seen one in local store, distro here very slowpoke cause not much demands.(fiber here very cheap and fast + mobile telco service very lousy lol)

Guys, TL-MR3020 got bandwidth control function? it does not mention one on official website, but 3040 does support bandwidth controlling.
So, 3020 = Qos, 3040 Bandwidth control. why cant have both ? doh.gif
Also, still no support for Hilink E3276? Huntsman firmware got Bandwidth control function or not sweat.gif

I have hard time finding a 4G router that can control bandwidth + support Hilink E3276. (my roommate always streaming video while i was gaming, sometimes i will lag till DC lol)
B593 is out my budget i think sweat.gif
While DIR 510L seems support QoS but it's expensive (150 SGD), can buy 3x TLMR 3020 already lol.

first golden rules,

never share your internet,.  icon_idea.gif

and it seems like you need the QoS ( ip QoS ) instead of bandwidth control in your situation,..

as far as i remember, TPlink router QoS ( IP QoS ) only work for 3G not 4G,..

huntsman rooter only have the Smart QoS like Asus router,.. not the IP QoS bandwidth control,..
*
What? how come the QoS does not work on 4G sweat.gif
I share with him cause he also pay half of my internet bill mah lol rclxms.gif
I'm stuck with the old 3G router cause it's the only router that support IP bandwidth control, the rest of Huawei router lacks too many advanced function, basically they're useless lol.

So any recommended router for me?

Both TL-MR3020 and TL-MR3040 does support QoS, if flashed to OpenWRT. Though, It doesn't come pre-installed, you need to install it:

CODE
opkg install luci-app-qos

Use PuTTY or from the web-interface: System -> Software -> Download and install package

Or better yet, flash Gargoyle firmware, which is an OpenWRT variant coming with a very nice looking default web interface. With Gargoyle, you don't need install anything to use QoS, it comes preinstalled (that is it's main strength).

Some useful links for those who are interested:

Gargoyle: completely open source and easy to use [LWN.net]
- abit outdated, but good introduction to learn about Gargoyle firmware

Gargoyle Router Firmware - Official Site or on Wikipedia

http://ecco.selfip.net/gargoyle-pl/attitud...ustment/ar71xx/
- alternative firmware source for Gargoyle firmware, with more packages (themes, apps) not available from official site

Hi, thank you for you reply,
I dont really want to pour cold water on you, but TP Link routers are actually have QoS on thier original firmware sweat.gif
When i have time i will try to flash my now-retired TPLink 3G router to third party firmware.

btw i just bought RT-AC68U doh.gif
wanted to buy AC56U but no stock. I took me a days to figure out how to connect this router to my Hilink E3276 shakehead.gif
The QoS options are so powderful as im still learning how to throttling bandwidth...

You using what firmware? Stock?
Does it works well

I think the custom firmware got better compatibility?
*
Not stock firmware, the original firmware does not even work with Huawei's own AF23 router shakehead.gif
The one im using was obtained from here http://3ginfo.ru/download59.html Прошивка Huawei E3276s-150 22.262.03.00.422 Telenor
Not really custom firmware as most of them option still same, just better compatibility.

You can even log in the the web ui even if its connected to router sweat.gif
So far i've tried E369 and it works, have not tried E3331 and E8278 yet,
E369 is not listed on thier 3G modem compatibility list but it works.

As for the QoS, the bandwidth QoS setting does not seems accurate.

Update: The E8278 seems to works with this router, the other mifi like E355 or E5776 might be works with this router, but so far i only tested E8278.
E3331 does not work.

Hwo is e3276 can support?
*
He mentioned a few times i think, E3276 still not supported.

You can consider Asus RT router, it probably support more modems than TPLink 3G router do.
Even mifi/smartphone also works with it, but the downside is the QoS might not work.

I kinda reset the router many times due to made too many noob errors that renderred the wifi/lan unusable lol sweat.gif

How will reset break the WiFi/LAN? sweat.gif

Sell it cheap and I will buy it tongue.gif
*
Lol, come Singapore, i sell you cheap cheap rclxms.gif
I mean i made too many changes that make the router unusable, too many complex settings to remember, had to reset router to default mode sweat.gif

Dafuq it also works with E5776, my other routers(Huawei AF23/Dlink/Asus) also cannot recognize E5776/E8278 natively. (except the Huawei webui become frozen)
The one who made the huntsman firmware should deserve some awards or monetary support.

Awesome at many level:

yeah rooter firmware do have a lot of magical moments  notworthy.gif

I wonder if i should try some higher end model llike Archer C7 sweat.gif
Their router are cheap but it lacks many advanced functions on stock firmware, which make it less attractive.

Also, when it works, it works flawlessly, when it does not work = reset router sweat.gif
damn noob i am.
