I'd say sealed would be generally better for music as opposed to ported as the bass tends to be 'faster' and 'tighter', in a sense. However in low-power applications ported subs can be tuned to a specific frequency range to sound louder than it should than the equivalent sealed sub so if you're targeting efficiency and you know how to design one, you can build one specific to your needs. The reason why I'd recommend sealed is in most music applications, as bass should not 'boom' like in home theatre systems which generally come with ported subwoofers. Again, this is to minimize floor space but it is also to mimic sound effects better such as explosions, gunfire (boomy and rumbling) and the like which generally do not show up in music.
