Just noticed about the Transformers Expo. Dang almost miss it. Anyone gone there? Any good? Worth the bucks?
*
Went there last Saturday. Here are some run downs on what they have and my review/opinion :

Part 1 - Transformers Toy Showcase : A very impressive collection of TF toys from G1 till date. Almost 95% of the whole collection are there (some are not display due to space constraint) Neatly display in show cases with explanation of their origins. Highly recommended thumbup.gif

Part 2 - Bumblebee Camaro display : The actual replica of the Camaro SS use in the movie on display for photo sesssion. Too bad they don't allow you to go in to the driver seat. Mildly recommended.

Part 3 - General Transformers artwork gallery : Some pretty nifty artwork and cut-outs for you to take picture including some which I have never come across. Mildly recommended.

Part 4 - 3D Experience : Basically just watching a documentary of the Transformers history on a Toshiba TV which is part of the sponsors. It's a Toshiba TV promotion in disguise if you ask me. Not really recommended but you can't skip it since it is part of the tour.

Part 5 - Animated Light Show Projection : A very cool animated light show projection showing animations of Optimus Prime head evolving from G1 throughout generations to the TF Prime design (So cool that we stayed and watch 2 times tongue.gif). Those who went to the Gundam Expo last year will know how it's like. Highly recommended.

Part 6 - Augmented Reality : Through the wonders of modern technology you can now dance with Kreon Optimus Prime & Bumblebee and take picture standing beside Autobots or Decepticons via the AR camera & TV display. Photos taken will be uploaded to the TF Expo official webpage. Kids will love it. Mildly recommended.

Part 7 - Life size replica of movie Optimus Prime & Bumblebee : Photo session with the 1:1 scale OP & BB. The replica statues are very highly detail and look very grand when standing beside it. Highly reocmmended.

Part 9 - Kid's Activity Corner - Activity section with interactive activities and contest. There's a cosplay Kreo OP/BB running around entertaining guests which is very cute wub.gif . Somewhat recommennded.

Part 10 - Merchandise and Food : A whole section dedicated to selling stuff. Basically they are selling caps, T-shirts, kids shoes and some "not-so-popular" TF toys at regular prices. Food prices are... you know... unless you are really hungry sweat.gif. Not recommended.

... and that concludes the tour. Forgot to mention that the Camaro & replica statues are barricaded due to the area is restricted for the professional photo service. You'll get a high quality 6R printout for a fee of RM30. Taking photos outside the barricade is free tough. You'll also get discount food voucher if you purchase merchandise in the expo.

So there you have it. It's not the best exhibition which I have been to but for what it's worth it's non the less a very good experience. Some of the sections need a lot of improvements such as space management as there are too many unused spaces at the replica display area. Another section will be the merchandising but I can't really blame them since I heard Hasbro is just providing the license and some minor sponsorship for the expo. Most of it are funded by the organizers themselves.

All in all I have to say I'm really proud of the organizers effort in to making this expo as good as possible under the circumstances in lack of sponsorship. Thumbs up guys rclxms.gif.

Is it worth your while to pay the Expo a visit ? I'll leave it to you guys to decide. I went there solely with the intention to support the local TF scene but was pleasantly surprise of what they are able to achieve at such a grand scale.

See you there... wink.gif

1 thing that disappoint me is we make a 30th anniversary here but we dont have some kinda "Msia expo exclusive", "asia exclusive" or "limited edition" figures like expo from other countries had.
*
Blame Hasbro Malaysia since they're skimping on the sponsorship. The organizers can only do so much since there aren't really any well known local toy manufacturer. Even if they manage find someone to produce the exclusive figure Habro wouldn't have allow it due to licensing issues.

CHMS is a KO brand, but they made the seekers using the old starscream deluxe that hasbro won't do
like the rainmakers, sunstorm, black seeker
but even though they're KO, they somehow cost as much if not more than henkei... gila
but i really want the shokcing colours of the rainmakers

Is this one "shocking" enough ? brows.gif

BTW, i gotta say Iron Fac's dinoarmor add on is pretty crappy
the rifle cannot fit on the hand, it falls out too often and the armor's joint is too tight and the plastic too thin, already cracked after alil fiddling
*
The quality may not be up to par with some 3rd party add on but you can't argue that it really improves a lot on the overall aesthetic. smile.gif

If I remember correctly there's a Superlink/Energon remake of this figure. There's also a 3rd party version in the making

It's a Gobot. He's name is Scooter. They are similar to TF and also quite popular during the 80s. I'm hoping one day someone will remake this series nod.gif .

This add on not bad what... hmm.gif !? Mine seems to be ok. Initially the ball joints are bit too tight but after a few wiggle they seem to have loosen up. Filling that gap really make a lot of difference to the dino mode and as back kibble/wings they add some G1 flair to the bot mode as well thumbup.gif :

Yeah the pegs on the guns doesn't fit well in the hands though nothing a little super glue can't fix. The ball joints aren't really that tight on my set though the joints held on by the screws is a different story. I just unscrew the whole thing, wriggle all the joints until the are loose enough then assemble it back. Think you may also use some extra fine sandpaper to sand down the ball joints so it wouldn't be so tight.

That pic is obviously photoshoped but never the less a very cool concept. Go go Dino(bot) Ranger !! laugh.gif

Hmm just want to ask what is it about the Uranos that is so bad? My friend has it he says it's damn nice (of coure he could be biased)... I'm contemplating it but I've seen the individual bot themselves and the detail is a bit .. soft? (not like MT GG where the details are sharper).. anything else about it? hehe if it's really that bad.. then I might wait for a better version of Superion in the future from other 3ps and go for something else come tax returns muahaha.
*
It's not that Uranos is bad it's just that the build quality is not as good compare to to most combiners. The most prominent issue I have encounter seem to have derive from the combine mode which seems a bit floppy but as individual bots/jets they look great. At the moment Uranos seems to be the definitive version of Superion as I haven't heard any news of other 3rd party company attempting to make another Superion counterpart. It really depends on how much you really like the jet combiner. nod.gif

I remember last time someone uses translucent plastic sheets (those usually use to wrap school books) cutting it according to the measurements of the Billy bookcase and pin it at the front of the bookcase to act as a mock "glass" window display. Consider it a "cheap" way to have a "glass display" if you don't wish to fork out extra for the actual glass panel installation tongue.gif.

Guys. Need some feedback on the Generations Metroplex. I heard from the seller saying that the Hasbro version spot some QC problems on loose knee joints as they suggested me to get the HK / Jap version instead. Hope you guys can shed some light on the subject. Thanks wink.gif.

I don't mind him having a bada** face. Just really not find of that "bigger-than-his-face" grin tongue.gif. They should have made him like Starscream with a switchable/replaceable face instead nod.gif.
