In a game where Sakho was a towering figure, where Lucas was solid , where Suarez was unplayable, where Flanagan was impressive, where Sterling flourished... I thought Jordan Henderson was MOTM. I was genuinely worried when word went around that he might not be fit for the match. But boy are we glad he was. Was in his usual energizer rabbit mode at the same time linked up very well with the players around him. His best game in a red shirt.

Best moment of the match? The look on Dalglish's face when Flanno scored that cracker.

If anything the manner in which we ripped into Spurs does suggest (again) that we may he ready for life after Gerrard. Not the first time we'll be having this discussion either. Without everything having to go through him, the other flourished. They were there to pick up the slack and they did so in emphatic fashion. I think Stevie is still an important member of the squad and if anything it does indicate that we can afford to rest him every now and then even against top quality opposition.
