Well we can educate people about purebreeds and why we should love all dog. Hint hint, tell your mom don't buy from pet shop anymore k. QUOTE(hairyLGS @ Jun 19 2006, 12:33 PM) Why isn't anyone do anything to such people when we can report these kind of people that they use pure breed to milk money out of them and left them to suffer? I really hate owners that don't even care their own dogs... and especially those that use dogs for making money. Why isn't any local media cover this kind of story? Going for adoption is one thing... but to save them isn't just pictures alone. It can never be one owner that does a horrible thing to these poor souls... there are other owners out there that may have done the same thing...

Wow good move, Malaysia. But all the dogs are adopted unless there are some that needs homes and stuff to take care of them. I can donate dog food methinks.

these poor dogs ... so sad.
other than donation/adoption a more effective method would probably be posting guide/review to weed out the reputable shops/breeders from the rest in place like this forum so that pet lovers can buy from these places. i will not want to give business to pet shops that promote this kind of activities. we need to create some awareness ...
just like comp shops at lyp - we all know which shops are good which are not.

I don't our government will care about animals especially dogs. All this while, the campaigns on animal abuse are organised by members from SPCA and PAWS. Just look at the law against animal cruelty, the sentense is too soft until we need to sign a petition for the government to mend it.

There were stories published in the Petworld magazine about dogs purchased from petstores that acquire them from puppy mills. The owners tell sad tales of their well loved dogs that go through life wonderfully until one day they fall sick and die unexpectedly. These stories are linked to the mills because when the dog is diagnosed or sent for autopsy, there are problems that arise from the breeding, living conditions, treatment and nutrition that these innocent animals get when in the puppy mills.
A friend of mine purchased a puppy from one of these mills thinking that the owner was a breeder. When she asked to view the mother of her puppy, the man said she was at the back and didn't make an effort to bring her out. She soon found out that the mother of her 1 and a half month old labrador puppy had terrible hip displaysia and dislocated both hips due to the weight of the pregnancy. She could not walk so the fur and tail was disgustingly dirty due to faeces and urine. This is just plain cruel.

I think I read the same article in Petworld. Horrendous. Sigh. To think money is more important than God-given lives.

If you wanna buy dogs, get from reputable breeders.... how to know? Call MKA and get numbers or visit dog shows.... that's how I landed a few of my dogs. Listen to people and get recommendations of quality kennels. Normally good breeders means high price. Please do not think save a few hundred RM is worth it when you see a cheap pedigree... long term later regret.
Visit a few breeders. If they only concentrate on one or 2 types of breeds... then still ok... but if this breeder breeds maltese and pomeranians and poodles and shih tzus all at one time, beware... it could be a case of a puppy farm.
Normally mass breeders do not have the time to take care of so many breeds. Really true and these mass breeders give the minimal care so that they can gain a better profit margin.
So do homework first before buying dogs or cats or any other pets.

I have an Uncle who does grooming and sells poodles. He used to breed dalmations as well but I don't know if he still is. His poodles are well maintained, well-fed but more expensive than local petstores. He also has some rare colours for poodles such as black, red and silver. He is registered with the MKA.

Same goes with any animal. You guys might or might not have seen cat mill and small animal mill pics, those small animal mills are even worst than the dog mills, coz the breeders just house hundreds together regardless of if they fight and kill each other or not.

Yes, I have seen them online and not a pretty sight.  It;s just UNETHICAL, ya know. Sigh. Just wonder how rampant this problem is here in Malaysia. AFAIK it's a serious issue overseas as well... ;_;
