There were stories published in the Petworld magazine about dogs purchased from petstores that acquire them from puppy mills. The owners tell sad tales of their well loved dogs that go through life wonderfully until one day they fall sick and die unexpectedly. These stories are linked to the mills because when the dog is diagnosed or sent for autopsy, there are problems that arise from the breeding, living conditions, treatment and nutrition that these innocent animals get when in the puppy mills.
A friend of mine purchased a puppy from one of these mills thinking that the owner was a breeder. When she asked to view the mother of her puppy, the man said she was at the back and didn't make an effort to bring her out. She soon found out that the mother of her 1 and a half month old labrador puppy had terrible hip displaysia and dislocated both hips due to the weight of the pregnancy. She could not walk so the fur and tail was disgustingly dirty due to faeces and urine. This is just plain cruel.
