As you know there are a few hidden puppy mills around KL... ok, around Malaysia.... and recently one such breeder left his 20 over purebreed dogs to suffer. The breeder or owner just abandon them, left them to starve and go hungry. mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif

Look at these pictures, take a look... some petshops get their puppy stocks from such breeders.... I hope these pics can shed some light to you guys to stop puppy mills.

I got this email from friends, the owner just left all his dogs abandon. Currently they are in Cheras(if I'm correct). Well, they will be put to sleep in SPCA if no one offers them a home. Yes, this is also an adoption thread but my main point is showing you how bad the dogs look and how sad their eyes meet the camera. cry.gif

So if you are interested to adopt, please contact ######

This thread will allow discussions. I hope some of you are kind enough to give a home to a last chance dog. Pity their lives.

Look at their skin, rashes and mange. Their eyes have either infections or cataracts.... Well, skin infections can be treated and they do heal well. These dogs would make good pets if you are patient with them. They may not have been out of their cages before, nor walked on grass. Look at their feet, all splayed and you can see the overgrown claws. Poor Poor poor souls.

Here are some pictures

EDITED:
Latest news, all dogs found homes... good for them but be aware that there are many dogs at SPCA, PAWS and strays that need homes as well.

Honestly speaking, even if you can provide a months' supply of food and stuffs, in the end, it'll still be enthanised.

Do spread the words around and let's see who can adopt these poor souls.

we'll spread the word around though!

So spread. Any information needed, just call Mr Param. From what I heard from friends, they need some supplies to upkeep the dogs. If supplies run out, they would be sent to SPCA....

well, this is the reality of Puppy Milling industry, which is why we recommend buying from reputable breeder instead of buying from petshops.

oh man. horrible state. the owners are worse than animals. all they think of is $$$ at the expense of those innocent dogs. sad.gif

don't mean to be cruel, but i look at them - i can't help but feel that it might be better just to end their misery than keeping them alive and suffering.

A lot of petshops get their animals from mills, dogs cats and small animals are bred in this way, which are than sold at a very young age with some of them carrying disease. Best is not to buy from petshops but from someone you know.

i think you have to define petshops.

AFAIK there are 2 types (well, at least to me there's 2) of petshops.

first one is the commercialize type, ie - Pets Wonderland, Pet Safari......... so on so forth.

the other type is the single shop low-profile type, ie - the pet shop next to KFC at TTDI, the pet shop at Plaza Damas. those kind of shops, usually they have regular customers who actually take care of their pets and those people may ask those shops to sell, so like that still OK i find.

however i did come by a pet shop in Cheras that kept their pets in appalling conditions, although not as bad a the one shown in the picture.

Poor animals go thru breeding their whole lives at pet farms... I call them pet farms coz they keep on breeding till they can't breed anymore....poor things.

Also, not only pet farms never take proper care of the animals.... some animal collectors too. They buy and collect pets still they can't care anymore and dump them aside...

That is good to know. I will take down the adoption tag but this thread will remain open for you guys to discuss and understand what the pet trade has made people do.....

Hope the dogs are doing great in their new homes.

So appalling. I hope whoever did this will get his/her own dues. Perhaps it will be reflected back to their own generations, I dunno. Such farking irresponsibility. Ugh sickens me.

Why isn't anyone do anything to such people when we can report these kind of people that they use pure breed to milk money out of them and left them to suffer?

I really hate owners that don't even care their own dogs... and especially those that use dogs for making money.

Why isn't any local media cover this kind of story?

Going for adoption is one thing... but to save them isn't just pictures alone. It can never be one owner that does a horrible thing to these poor souls... there are other owners out there that may have done the same thing...

Wow good move, Malaysia. rclxms.gif

But all the dogs are adopted unless there are some that needs homes and stuff to take care of them. I can donate dog food methinks.

these poor dogs ... so sad.

other than donation/adoption a more effective method would probably be posting guide/review to weed out the reputable shops/breeders from the rest in place like this forum so that pet lovers can buy from these places. i will not want to give business to pet shops that promote this kind of activities. we need to create some awareness ...

just like comp shops at lyp - we all know which shops are good which are not.

I don't our government will care about animals especially dogs. All this while, the campaigns on animal abuse are organised by members from SPCA and PAWS. Just look at the law against animal cruelty, the sentense is too soft until we need to sign a petition for the government to mend it.

There were stories published in the Petworld magazine about dogs purchased from petstores that acquire them from puppy mills. The owners tell sad tales of their well loved dogs that go through life wonderfully until one day they fall sick and die unexpectedly. These stories are linked to the mills because when the dog is diagnosed or sent for autopsy, there are problems that arise from the breeding, living conditions, treatment and nutrition that these innocent animals get when in the puppy mills.

A friend of mine purchased a puppy from one of these mills thinking that the owner was a breeder. When she asked to view the mother of her puppy, the man said she was at the back and didn't make an effort to bring her out. She soon found out that the mother of her 1 and a half month old labrador puppy had terrible hip displaysia and dislocated both hips due to the weight of the pregnancy. She could not walk so the fur and tail was disgustingly dirty due to faeces and urine. This is just plain cruel.

If you wanna buy dogs, get from reputable breeders.... how to know? Call MKA and get numbers or visit dog shows.... that's how I landed a few of my dogs. Listen to people and get recommendations of quality kennels. Normally good breeders means high price. Please do not think save a few hundred RM is worth it when you see a cheap pedigree... long term later regret.

Visit a few breeders. If they only concentrate on one or 2 types of breeds... then still ok... but if this breeder breeds maltese and pomeranians and poodles and shih tzus all at one time, beware... it could be a case of a puppy farm.

Normally mass breeders do not have the time to take care of so many breeds. Really true and these mass breeders give the minimal care so that they can gain a better profit margin.

So do homework first before buying dogs or cats or any other pets.

I have an Uncle who does grooming and sells poodles. He used to breed dalmations as well but I don't know if he still is. His poodles are well maintained, well-fed but more expensive than local petstores. He also has some rare colours for poodles such as black, red and silver. He is registered with the MKA. smile.gif

Same goes with any animal. You guys might or might not have seen cat mill and small animal mill pics, those small animal mills are even worst than the dog mills, coz the breeders just house hundreds together regardless of if they fight and kill each other or not.
