just want to share job application with Petronas. Hope some of you job hunters out there would find this information useful.

1. registered online through Petronas career portal (somewhere in August  2019). No vacancy at that time, i just simply register myself.

2. 14/10/19 - call from petronas hiring manager - chit chat interview. According to the manager, there is no managerial position but they are willing to offer me senior  engineer position instead. Well of course i say yes as long as the salary is not far from my expectation.

3. 23/10/19 - receive Petronas pre-employment assessment email telling me to take the online test before 26/10/19.

4. 25/10/19 - completed the online test. Piece of advice - please get yourself well prepared and take it seriously.

5. zzzz zzz zzz

6. 1/11/19...sent email asking for status

6. zzzz zzz zzz

7. 2nd week ...resent 1st email as reminder

8. received a call from hiring manager saying that i pass the online assessment but they are not able to provide the interview date as they are still waiting for the interviewee availability. OK fair enough.

9. 26/11/19 received invitation to interview.

10. 9/12/19 - attended the interview in Miri. I flew all the way from Kota Kinabalu to Miri. I asked them before that if can conduct the interview in Kota Kinabalu but they say it is not possible for the interviewee.

12. email- 2nd week after interview. no reply

13. email- 4th week after interview no reply

13. Since no reply, i call the handler personally. He told me I pass the interview and the interviewee has marked "recommended" in the interview assessment form but now still waiting for top management approval.

14. zzzzzz zzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

16. 6th week after interview. sitll no update

17. call the handler again, and i asked him whether this position has been filled up or not because it is quite weird for such big company like Petronas not to inform the candidate for the interview outcome. To my expectation, the position is no longer available as it has been filled up.

So there you go, i have been tortured mentally and financially by Petronas.  :bangwall:  :bangwall: they should have at least keep the candidate informed about the job application. I would understand if the job offer is from kilang kicap, but petronas is multi national company :mega_shok: they should have established SOP for hiring people.

But it is not the end of the world, perhaps it is not my luck with petronas this time.

I only saw a few like 3 or 4 vacancy through Petronas careers. How did you guys find the vacancy list?

1. Normal. It took me 6 months to get offer letter since my application started
2. Possibly not. If they really want you, they will try to nego with you if they cant give you the salary you wanted. If they dont want you, they will not even talk to you even if you ask for only 10%  :D
3. Sr Executive is under Executive band. cant really comment on the salary because i believe the salary band is wide and can be overlapped across different band. Perhaps i can share of my experience with you here.
- I also initially started searching for the salary range for different band in this forum. you will get some ideas by looking into the past post.
- After I got the rough ideas, then I put in my expected salary in the form, and manager did confirmed with me on that.
- at the end i got offered what I wanted , and it is higher than the upper band that is shared by other members here.
- So my advise is just put the number you wanted, and there is a chance you can get that.

Hi guys. After more than five months of kena ghost from HR, I’ve finally received my OL (CDH position). My questions are:
1) The salary they offered is not what I wanted, can I negotiate for my expected salary? A bit of background about me, I have more than five years of experience and they’re offering me less than 20% bump from my current salary.
2) Is going for a CDH position a good idea in this economy?

Yes, Contract Direct Hire for 2 years with quite okay benefits but no allowances.

Got offered contract post in petronas for 30% more salary then my current job (permanent). Worth it to pursue kah?

Now petronas already in transitioning of sarawak assets to petros. People really dont talk much about this. From what i heard, it will hurt petronas a lot. Wonder how is the future of petronas n will there be downsizing or retrenchment.

For now, Petros E&P division operating on NOV basis.
