Guys, I hope someone can help me with my predicament. I am an engineering graduate student from a private university. I was called for SI on March 22. I was informed I passed the SI the following day. The HR mentioned that they would be looking for a suitable position for me in PCG.

I have been in contact with the HR for 2 times and everytime the HR gives the same reply that PCG is still finding for a suitable position for me. It is close to 3 months already and I am worried. Does it really take that long for the job process?

Btw, I am working as a part time barrister while waiting for the official news from Petronas. I hope I am not making a huge mistake here.

Hope all the experienced otai and seniors can guide me here.

I know for sure they are putting my name in cold file and not really chasing my position for me. I am frantically trying to find contact of HR from other dept like downstream or PCSB or PMU. I hope someone can provide me with HR contact to other Petronas dept and I will settle it from there.

Is it advisable to contact another HR from other dept who is not handling my application?

In the meantime, yes I have already started sending out resume again since a month ago.

okay,finally gotten my offer and will be based in Kerteh,Terengganu under technical service dept with PET Chemical derivatives

I would like to know if Petronas sponsors accomodation over there for outstation workers since I am from Perak.

Also, what is the standard working hours for Pet chemical derivative plant workers in Kerteh, Terengganu

1. Start with brief introduction, your background, siblings, education exp, extra-curricular activity experience

2. Next, you would be asked to present your points on the topic given to you prior to start in SI. Topic is completely random. Present your points and get ready to elaborate and get bombarded by the interviewers. Show maturity and be consistent

3. It is always good to share your university projects, FYP or extra-curricular experience with the interviewer to impress them

4. Show you are committed to Petronas and sell your skills. Give example on why you are a leader or why you are a consistent and meticulous person by giving real life example

5. Next comes role play. Here, you are given a scenario and you are required to act or pretend. Lets say, you got a topic and you have to become a plant manager while the interviewer role plays as angry villagers. You are given 5 cards each with a scenario and you gotten respond and act on it. It can be trying to calm down an angry mob, or give solutons to solve the problem at hand.

6. Lastly, be yourself and do not oversell or sound snobbish and arrogant. Respect the interviewer and greet them by their name if possible.

7. Read up about Petronas, current news, who is the CEO of Petronas and what your job scope is about(if applicable)

Hi bro, thanks for giving me some valuable info. I am reporting to work as exec SEED (Process). I have been trying to contact HR but due to the holidays, guess I gotta wait till next week.

I got so many question to clarify with HR like dress code, accommodation, transportation etc

Now you play the waiting game. Expect 3 months++ for them to shortlist a position for you

Reporting to Kerteh on August 27th

Long story, applied for a open position at discoverpetronas. Called for interview then waited for few months and got the position.

I am used to boredom cause I come from Ipoh. Not much entertainment here also

You could politely ask the hiring manager to push the application through. Did you already pass the chit chat?

You gotta complete the medical checkup before they can give you the offer letter.

Any indication on the location and position?

The website already screwed up since 2 months ago after the last maintainance. All the words are not aligned. I wonder why it was not fixed after so many months

Not recommended but can be done by asking the HR. However,try to ask nicely and if really cannot then you have to accomodate the date given to you

You make the HR job easier, they make your job application easier too. Thats what I learn from my senior friends who join Petronas

I did read up on current Petronas development, news such as the recent successful purchase Canada Oil etc. The annual report can be downloaded from website. Tons of info on Petronas, what they are doing and market etc.
