Anyone applied for the finance vacancies back that closed on 13 September 2019? Send in my application on 12/9.

I got a call from the HR just to check like email/phone number/IC no and other basic information on 31/10.

On 1/11 got an email from their HR requesting IC/Results/Current payslip.

Until now no news. Wanted to send a follow up email to the HR but scared later the HR think I'm impatient. ahahhaa

I am not sure for PrefChem, there are a lot of experts here that can help you to answer.

As for the online test - preferable to do the mock test here https://practicetests.cubiks.com/. There are 3 levels, beginner interm and advanced and its according of what level are you interviewed for. The higher the post, the higher the level. for me the question is neither too hard nor too easy - except the adrenaline rush that u need to fight as timing will become your main obstacle in the test.

If passed - then only can think about CBI. Good luck!
*
how do you know u pass the test? result of the test can be seen instantly? coz based on the practice question, i can see whether im right or wrong.

i just receive an email about this online assessment yesterday, need to complete it by sunday.

No, u will not know ur result until the day you are called for CBI. Then u will know u pass the test, but they will not let you know the result.
*
just did the online assessment today.

manage to answer:

21/24 verbal (last 7 pure tembak)
15/16 numerical (last 4 pure tembak)
10/10 abstract (last 3 pure tembak)

let's say none of my tembak + unattended question all wrong (i hope it's not) and everything before is correct,

14/24 verbal (58.33%)
11/16 numerical (68.75%)
7/10 abstract (70%)

im confident for numerical, but not for abstract and verbal, i hope it's at least 50%.

but from my observation, i might get
12/24 verbal (50%)
10/16 numerical (62.5%)
4/10 abstract (40%)

all at least 50% except abstract.

Recruitment process (I'll quote this process everything I get an update):

12/09/19 - Submitted online
31/10/19 - Called by HR
01/11/19 - Received email from HR requesting payslips, etc
19/12/19 noon - Called by HR, 'Your hiring manager would like to proceed with your resume'
19/12/19 evening - Online assessment email received

QUOTE
As part of the PETRONAS recruitment activity, please be informed that you are required to complete the PETRONAS Pre-employment Assessment: Logiks General (Intermediate), latest by 22 December 2019 before 11.59 pm, prior to attending the PETRONAS Pre-employment Interview which will be communicated in separate email.

is this standard wordings received by everyone, coz it's say to complete online assessment prior attending interview, but didn't say upon successfully passed the online assessment. or im starting to get paranoid.

Finance. Should be petronas as the department stated in the email sent to me is just ‘xxxxx xxxxx - PETRONAS’.

For example

Strategic Finance - PETRONAS

Are u in petronas yet?

I did the online assessment, after 2 weeks I emailed twice asking for updates.
HR told i failed the assessment after the review.

No luck i guess eventhough i knew they hired less competent personal for similar post previously
*
by any chance u applying for finance position as well? receive email about 3 weeks after my online assessment.

'your application is processed by batches' - not sure if this means i pass the online assessment. they also put the Batch Number in the email - like Batch 4 Batch 5.

What is tier 1 and G2?

Tier 1 is those works mostly in upstream oil exploration and production related such as geologist, petroleum engineers, wells engineers and any subsurface related job scope. Any other technical non-subsurface scope usually falls under Tier 2, and service such as finance, legal, HR etc under Tier 3.

G2 is job grade. Someone with 4-5 years experience usually falls under this grade.
*
How much would someone in Tier 3 with G2 grade job salary usually be at?

I googled it says around 6.5k-8k. The range is too big. Im from a small company so this amount is definitely twice my current salary. I scared if i ask for 6.5k ill be underpaid whil 8k is a bit too much

Just ask the middle amount or 8k if u think u deserve it and just say it is  still negotiable. HR will assess it based on your experience and offer what theu thinks is right for you.
*
Yup. Just had my iv today. It was okay. They got say the amount i ask is a bit higher than what my years of experience will usually get, but then he said ‘just discuss with HR later once they get your offer letter sorted out’

It sounds like they wanted to hire me when he said that, I just hope so.

Interview was super casual, laugh a lot, discussing high school time, talking bout PS2 game...

Now the waiting game began. I did ask when I can get the outcome from the interview, he said ‘within 2 weeks, the HR will communicate with you, but for the offer letter, i think it will take probably 3 or 4 weeks time’

Again...sounds like I’m hired. I just pray hard it’s true.

I was hoping that you did ask them about the dramatic drop in oil price and how it will affects your (or entire Petronas) recruitment process and budget. I hope it will not.

Anyway, may the force be with you bro. Let's pray hard.

Sorry to dissapoint you guys..but due to low oil price, petronas has put on hold recruitment of new staff..

Got an email yesterday (16/3) that I've passed the CBI Assessment Interview.

Interview on Thursday, got the replied email on Monday, i guess that's quite fast.

The next course of action is to issue offer letter should you be recommended for this position - i'm not sure what does this means? meaning the position i might be offered different from the position they offer me during the interview. The interviewer is also my Hiring Manager. anyone has anything to share on this line?

Tried to call the HR since yesterday and today to ask further, no answer, morning, afternoon, evening. I know Petronas staff has been working from home, but the direct line number doesn't connect to their laptop? - idk about Petronas but my current company, it will connect to our laptop/mobile straight away if they call our direct line.

That means it is pending management approval bro whether to take you or not. If the hiring manager wants you does not guarantee your placement to be agreed by various level of HODs. From my experience, they have multi layers of approval, eventhough for an Exec position. So the red tapes going to be tough and take quite long time to approve. But it depends on your luck and timing also.

But based on the current situation of COVID and oil price hit BELOW 30usd, you can just pray that hopefully everything will be fine and smooth, and dont put hope too much. I am being realistic here. I am waiting my offer letter for 7 months since they said they want to take me in.
*
Up until now you do not have any confirmation? The HR did call me just now late evening explaining on what to expect. He did say he cant tell me the specific processing time but roughly in the next 2 weeks he will update me on my process.

Will update here in the next 2 weeks on my process.

Just got the news, external recruitment has been put on hold at this moment.

I am almostttttttttt there, but yes, my time hasn't come yet.
*
Hi. Did u get the info from HR?

I did call the HR that communicate with me earlier April, she said approval from BoD has not been obtained yet. Expect delay until a month or so after MCO. It doesnt only affect me, but it also affected people that went for interview beginning of feb onwards

Ur position is contact or permanent?

Mine is permanent. There’s no slight hint about recruitment freeze from the HR.

update from last March, just got an update that they've gotten approval for my employment. however, the terms have been change from permanent to ONE YEAR contract.

leaving my current job of which I'm a permanent staff to a one year contract position seems like a bit risky, any advice?

Hi, my advise, please don't leave your permanent post. Its a very challenging time right now. Previously, I have once work in contract post and I've regretted my choice. Although during that time, we do not face economic crisis. Since that I just only accept permanent post.
*
i've decided to take the offer. since my pay will be double from current pay. as for future job, as my background is economics, i believe in the future it would be not as competitive as other industry (engineers, etc) in getting a job.

QUOTE(hidayat14 @ Aug 4 2020, 03:35 PM)
I just got an offer from petronas, it is grade N2. May I know at what grade is this, and how many grades are there? from the offer letter seems it is a permanent post.
*
good for you as u still able to get permanent. I was suppose to be hired under permanent, confirmed by the hiring manager and HR during interview, however, when my approval memo gotten back, it was changed to contract due to the business outlook. majority were affected by this (except for graduates from UTP) as per my discussion with HR.

contract hire is not entitled for bonus and claims on professional qualification fees sad.gif

Oh my. What is approval memo by the way? Since the offer letter didnt mention anything about contract, but it did mention about probation period of 6 months. Is that where they will come out with approval memo and change to contract?
*
Before u get the offer letter. They have internal thing on approval memo. I was told i was in for a permanent position, once interview done and they send for final approval, it was changed to contract.

Yours should be permanent then. Mine no mention on probation period. Just contract period
