Guys,

I went for an interview session at Kerteh for an OPU there early last month. The interview was conducted with TP and Department Manager, which most of it was all technical. After two weeks, I called their HR to find out the result for the session, and they said I've been recommended for SI. They asked me to wait for HR in KL to call for SI.

Now, its been two weeks since the call and I'm still have no ideas when they will call. I did ask during the interview, is the position offered need to be fill-up urgently. They answered that they are looking to fill the position by January. icon_question.gif

What position and which OPU are you applying for?

I heard there is a new method on SI nowadays, but I could not confirm this. But it will be similar as what has been shared throughout this thread IMO.

Goodluck! smile.gif

But I noticed that the forms used stated "Technical Assessment".

Weird.

The whole thing took 1 1/2 hours.. laugh.gif
Tomorrow have another chit chat with another Dept laugh.gif

that's just normal. For an SI, the HR will have to find 2 assessor for the session. They are from the HR and the field so very hard to fix any dates to say. normally for any TA, there might be more recommended candidates than the number of vacancy. so, u will have to wait as they shall rank everyone for the SI.

having said that, normally those recommeded from the TA shall be called for SI - it's a matter of time. Good luck!
*
I just been informed by the HR that he's looking for assessor for the SI but since its the end of the year, many of them are on long leave, so might have to postpone the SI till January.

Not sure whether its true, or just to make me feeling a bit comfortable sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif

Petronas do hired fresh but mostly from UTP and some from other uni. U must have control and instrumentation or EE degree to be hired and E&I engineer.
If you cannot get a job with client, try to work as a vendor 1st like trisystem, foxboro, yokogawa, emerson and etc. These vendor usually will only hired fresh grad, after 3-4 years, these fresh will jump to client and the cycle goes on. Usually people that have work with vendor for few years easily be hired to client because of the connection they have during working as a vendor. For me, i do have EE degrees from UTP but have worked in oil and gas telecommunication field for 5 years. I have  a lot of friends who is working 4-5 years in other field like manufacturing, factory suddenly being hired by petronas for position that is totally different. In this case you cannot demand the salary, they maybe offer you slightly higher than fresh grad rate but still if you work in factory you cannot get 4.5k(engineering fresh grad rate for petronas) within 5 years, rarely happens.

For me, i alwiz believe in rezeki. Don't push too hard and follow the flow.
*
You're applying for position in which OPU?

Me myself from I&C background as well, working for a local vendor for about two years doing projects for client such as Shell and Petronas. So are you maintaining your line e.g taking control of telco system in Petronas later or they assigning you to different scope? Just wondering if Petronas take experienced personnel based on their working background or not.

Thank you notworthy.gif

Just got invitation from HR in one of the OPUs in Kerteh for a SI, and the SI will be conducted in Kerteh! I didn't know the OPUs can handle SI by themselves rclxub.gif

Btw, I went for chit-chat with their management personnel two month ago. I thought they have freeze the recruitment since the oil price plunging and shock got the call. So going to do it anyway trying my luck. blush.gif

hye guys,

I'm am on the verge of receiving my offer letter from Petronas. I attended SI at PGB last month and asked to do medical examination yesterday. I completed the examination this morning. I checked with the HR the offer letter should be out by next week.

I have few questions here

1. If the offered salary lower than our expected, can we still negotiate with HR to increase, a bit if not up to the expected?

2. Can we nego with them on the report duty date? delay it by few days or a week or so.

I'm trying to look for a complete employment benefits from Petronas, in terms of leaves, medical, etc. I've seen once in the thread. If anyone here have any reference, appreciate if you could share with me. Would like to do some comparisons. =)

medical leave is standard 30 days. For annual leave, you start off with 15 days of AL

So you will be reporting for duty in PGB based in Kerteh then?
*
Yup, based in Kerteh.

Hoe about medical coverage and etc?

Your two years experience is a monkey. Nak nego? Tergelak your hiring manager.

In O&G 5 years above baru ada leverage to nego. Below 2 years tu kau simpan diam2 dalam hati jer bai.

I even know someone who waited close to 1 year before got the offer letter.

I wouldn't said freezing, it just that they are filling up vacancies only if really needed by the department. For my case, I waited 5 months before got the offer letter.

just wondering, after completing the SI, how long till your hear back to proceed to the medical check up ?
*
uncertain. Depends on the urgency for the position to be filled up, and HR processing time. could be as soon as 1-2 weeks, but sometime could be as long as 1 year. #truestory
