I think stock rom is not bad, alot of features.
I myself prefer custom rom not because stock rom is bad, just prefer something minimalist like nexus devices cuz too used to my previous phone galaxy nexus.
*
Ok then but at the same time can this v6 supercharger thing work on stock rom? Need to root first right? I just wanted it to perform without lag.

To be Frank 8GB... I'm using 4GB and it is not enough partition for apps...
*
what do you mean partition for apps? I thought on android we can install apps into the SD card right? Which means a 16gb or 32gb card would be enuf right? Sorry for my noobie question. I have been using Nokia all this while simply bcoz battery life.

Only certain apps can move to sd card. Except you already rooted your phone.

i think i will definitely root the phone, simply bcoz i want to try this v6 supercharger that someone said improves the performance and can be used on stock rom.

no bro... u can move partial of the apps to there only not all... so still depends... 16GB internal best... if not 8GB will be sufficient... 4GB will not...
i still have 1GB space for apps in my 4GB even after repartition... that is my FIFA14 haven move to internal... if not my internal is full already... smile.gif

i see, it is most probably because of those big sized games lah? i dont think i will play those huge games lah, at most is just some candy crush and angry bird and nothing more.

Nope price drop, bought last month from them at rm779 8gb, now must be drop to RM749 already.

Anyway that price is AP set, so don't compare with Ori.

QUOTE(fitzhex @ Dec 9 2013, 03:21 PM)
AP set great for it's price
but it woulde be pain in ass to when comes to warranty claim.
depends on your warranty provider of course.
*
ap or ori not an issue for me... After all i think satugadget being quite a big retailer shouldn't have much issue to claim warranty also. If price can drop somemore i am willing to wait Abit longer lol.

**update, just checked mudah, they still listed RM750 for a 4gb version sad.gif

guys, i have finally bought a 4gb version last night. bought 2nd hand from garage sale, and i think it is not rooted yet. Forgot to ask seller. still on stock firmware s119, but with this i am already happy bcoz it hardly lags and true enuf, battery life is good for an android smartphone. Played the whole nite updating some apps, watched 40mins of movie, online and fb abit, all about 2-3hours and battery only used 20% So i guess with my style of using phone it can last me from sunrise to sunset without charging. smile.gif I'm a happy camper now.

so after this, root > repartition > v6 ?  brows.gif

not sure yet. Coming from Nokia symbian, i find that this phone is a great jump already. Plus i intend to give this to my wife as Christmas present So better keep it stock standard. I'll take over her old htc desire and only then learn about rooting and flashing Rom on that phone.

By the way i have put in a 16gb class 4 sd and selected write to sd card. Does this mean when i download any app or games it will automatically be stored in the card and not the built-in 4gb memory? By the way not exactly 4gb also i only see 2gb available.

remind me on my old moto defy. learn a lot from that phone.  blush.gif

i not sure too because i set it on built in storage. most of large apps/games, i linked it to sd card using folder mount. actually, our phone devided by 3 partition, system (android system here), internal storage (for apps) and built in storage (phone storage/usb storage).

for 8gb
system - 793mb
internal - 3.17gb
built in - 3.08gb

another thing, about repartitioning, i read in 1st page that it can only be done one Rom s110. But i read from another post that s119 is the best stock Rom currently. If i flash down to 110 to do the repartitioning, then later flash back to 119 will the partition size remain? So much flashing here and there i worry will cause something to go faulty.

Alright I’ve prepared this tutorial to the best of my knowledge. If anything isn’t clear do let me know.

NOTE: THIS WAS DONE ON STOCK ROM P780_ROW_S119_130930 AND ROOT ACCESS IS REQUIRED..

We’ll start by getting required programs
1. ADB (most important piece of this maneuver)
2. 7zip or Winrar
3. Lenovo drivers
4. RootAdb

GETTING A WORKING ADB
Usually to get the ADB program you need to install android SDK by google and that is quite a huge file. Head up to the XDA link below to get a working and light ADB installer

Working ADB thread on XDA

Kudos to the creator of the XDA thread @shimp208.
Once you get the installer from the thread above, simply install it on your windows computer.

GETTING 7zip or WinRAR
I guess everyone knows how to do this so I’ll move on to the next requirement.

GETTING LENOVO DRIVERS
Thankfully Lenovo already gave this to us. It can be foung in the built-in storage of the phone in the folder LenovoTool, the file is named LenovoUsbDriver_1.0.2.exe.
Install the driver file on your computer

GETTING RootAdb
Simply go to playstore on your P780 and install RootAdb. Run it and grant it superuser access.

After you are done with all the steps mentioned above we can move on to business proper!

DOING THE MANEUVER
1. Now run the ADB program you got and installed from XDA forum. It will open a command prompt window (don’t worry it’s very easy to use)

2. Now make sure you are running the RootAdb app on your device and you have ticked the box displayed in the app & it says “restarting adb daemon with root privileges, adb is running as root”. Now you can plug in your P780 via usb to your computer.

3. Once plugged in, type the following command line in the command prompt window  and send using ENTER key on your keyboard.

If it dispalys  a set of numbers & letters then you are good to go, your device is recognised by ADB. If it doesn’t then your Lenovo driver isn’t installed properly. Troubleshoot.

4. Next step is to type the following command line
This to enable you change from r/o to r/w. Very important.

5. Next step is to pull out the required system file from your device which is LenovoSystemUI.apk to your computer for editing . First create a folder named p780 in your default hard drive on your computer (drive C: in my case)  and then Use the following command.
Note that you’ll find the pulled out system file in the p780 folder you created earlier. PLEASE SAVE A COPY OF LenovoSystemUI.apk IN ANOTHER LOCATION ON YOUR COMPUTER INCASE YOU WISH TO REVERT.

6. Now head to the p780 folder in your drive C:. There you’ll find the LenovoSystemUI.apk. Right-click on the file and open with 7zip or WinRAR (I personally prefer 7zip). Now navigate to the following location in the archive

res > drawable-hdpi

Within drawable-hdpi folder HIGHLIGHT the following .png files (Ten of them in number)
stat_sys_gemini_signal_3g_blue.png
stat_sys_gemini_signal_3g_green.png
stat_sys_gemini_signal_3g_orange.png
stat_sys_gemini_signal_3g_purple.png
stat_sys_gemini_signal_3g_white.png
stat_sys_gemini_signal_g_blue.png
stat_sys_gemini_signal_g_green.png
stat_sys_gemini_signal_g_orange.png
stat_sys_gemini_signal_g_purple.png
stat_sys_gemini_signal_g_white.png

Once all files are highlighted, Right-click on any one of the files and select “Delete”. 3G/G network icon is gone for good! Now close the opened archive and move to next step.

7. Now copy this edited LenovoSystemUI.apk to the installation folder of ADB program in your computer (in my case it is C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot). Once file is copied to this directory, we push it back to your device using the following command line on ADB
Make sure it is successful then move on to next step.

8. Next step is to reboot your device using ADB. Send the following command
Once your device turns off to reboot, disconnect it from your computer and allow it boot up.
And that’s all there is to it. Enjoy your less clustered status bar! Share your testimonies if it works for you. Thanks.

but i'm afraid if the battery kaput (P780) when using less than 1 year sad.gif very hard to change since it cannot be removed
*
if the issue can be solved with money, it is not a problem at all.
just need to send to lenovo service and pay money get them to take off and solder in a new battery only niah...
but with current battery tech i doubt battery can spoil within 1 year, unless if you always short charge the battery or used wrong chargers with different power rating etc, that one even give you apple, samsung , htc, nokia also same result.

no regrets getting this phone.

hahaha true true...at least its hard wont worry so much of damaging the screen...
although mine didn't have the "hydrophobic" (*I tested with tea o panas*) but when watching movies on it I don't see the greasy reflection which is common if you use normal  clear screen protector. Might order 2 more pieces.
No agent sangat mahal leh... I got mine for RM21.50

Maybe yours more expensive since its "Explosion proof"  shocking.gif

Lol, u know lah mainland chinese. Damn exaggerating one. Yup at about rm30+ include shipping mah...

Does your rm21.50 include agent fee liao? Since u are buying might as well buy extra and sell here.
