Pros : 1)FUN..LOTS OF FUN!!!! Played it many many hours last night and was thinking about it at work today as well 2) Running Zombies over with Vehicles XD 3)Huge arsenal of weapons and items 4)Open World Sandbox freedom
Cons : 1)Graphics Issues ( Lags, Texture ) 2)No Multiplayer 3)Weird Controller Issues ( I have trouble shooting with weapons and I play a lot of FPS games ) 4)Not enough storyline/ character development. ( You dont feel emotionally attached to any of the characters.

Ed Jones, the good-for-nothing friend of Marcus in the beginning of the game,

Turns out you can make him learn Spin Kick after you get control of him, which is one of the most broken moves in the game IMO. Basically an AoE version of the normal kick attack that has a 100% knockdown chance to most zombies. I just used him to solo an infested warehouse with 30+ zombies plus 1 feral in it. WITHOUT taking any damage.
lolz really..had no idea about that. I've used him like once.. but i've spent more times bashing zeds in the face with various melee weapons..the wrench has got to be my favourite

hehe thinking of going back early today to play this game
Hopefully they will update it and fix some of the texture glitches. Seems like a great game. Cries out for multiplayer but I see why they made it singleplayer only.

u moved to a new base already or not?
i move to a new one last night n thinking maybe i should sell my old one 1st before moving to get some materials back.
seems interesting, but is it better than 'the last of us'?
This one is sandbox-oriented rather than story-driven. It's kind of like a very lite version of GTA in a zombie world -- I use very lite because this started out as a XBOX arcade game so the content is very limited due to size limitation.

There are some good mods in the official forum that you all can check it out after the initial round. I personally recommend the Romero mod.
its due to budget reasons than limitation of file size. Last i check the filesize was 1.9gb out of the 4.0 gb allocated for XBLA title. PC version might have bigger file size due to texture scaling

I read in their forum, the dev said when they do it the XBLA limit is 2GB and they have to cut many contents to fit it in. Some known contents that do not make the cut are hunting and weather system.
Edit: A brief search on Google, the 2GB limit is there since 2009 and only by late 2012 they started to allow 4GB. SoC is probably in development before 2012. I guess you can argue why are they not putting the content back in after the size expansion by 2012.
Edit...Again: Okay, after a more thorough search I realize only 2 games are above 2GB and it seems that MS wants to keep those XBLA game under 2GB if possible. The over 2GB thing is never official.

haha damn i accidentally "killed" another survivor when i played him. dropped from ladder. the ladder detection system sometimes do suck. and then get nom-ed by zeds. damn...
My quick take, avoiding any spoilers: Pros: 1. Great open world infested with zombies 2. Nice sandbox for building your shelter in a zombie apocalypse 3. Cars > Zombies 4. Adrenaline pumping initial stage, where stealth is critical and zombies are really overpowered, at least in numbers. This point go into the dumps right after you get your first car. 5. The games actually "runs" even when you are not playing. Making sure you start the game often to keep your camp healthy. 6. YOLO gameplay
Cons: 1. Storyline is non existent. And there are certain side quests which came to an abrupt end, such as the Courthouse storyline. Or worst, story branches that awards you for being "bad" and practically non-rewarding for being "good" as in the Wilkerson storyline. Or the Ray Santos storyline which serves nothing but giving you a generic sport car. 2. Cars >>> Zombies ( I think the new DLC will make cars a much more precious resource ) 3. At some point it becomes a grind as you check in and do your daily activity for point (5) in pros. Kinda like a MMO where you log in just to do your daily quests. 4. No main character as everyone is YOLO. 5. For a zombie apocalypse, it seems like all your neighbours and your friends didn't get their brain eaten yet. Survivors are common, and crucial to gameplay as you can recruit them to your deck of characters. Spoils the immersion though.
Overall: First, credits have to be given to undead labs. This is a very small team of developers with big ambitions. While they did promised to put into a co-op mode and call it off, the game on its own is a very engaging survival simulation of a zombie apocalypse. I'll give it a 7.5/10.

Been there done that as well. I always walk slowly when near the ladder now to prevent accidental slip.

True on those pros, the vanilla game is pretty easy after you learn how to play it. Try a no car(unless on long distance travel) run or put Romero mod in for some second round fun, featuring fragile vehicle, loud gunshot, fatal attack and so on. I didn't put loud gunshot because it's too crazy to me but fragile vehicle and fatal attack are good enough for me. 1 bite or 2 claw from zombies and your character go down, every battle is thrilling and dangerous.
As for the cons, from a realistic prospective, being bad is actually more rewarding as you can just take whatever resource and whatever while being good, you have to give people things, definitely not always a good choice. If everyone is rewarded by doing good, I doubt anyone would bother to be bad.
I actually liked their take on multiple survivor groups. As far as I know, most(if not all) zombie stories are all about 1 group against the world, they might be some other groups in the mix but definitely not as many and as packed as the area of State of Decay. Having a ton of different survivor groups out there is an interesting take or at least an unusual one. If they can feature something like turf war and every group sharing/fighting the resources around town(the scavenger mission doesn't seem to affect the location's resource), then it will be awesome.

Nice take on the mods. But for green players which do not know modding or applying a mod, the new DLC will certainly balance things out and make it more interesting. (Less cars, more "special" zombies for example). I'm also interested in the DLC's promotion that the game gets harder and harder as more time in the game world passes. Practically a race for survival.
I do not have qualms against playing the bad guys. Hell, I enjoyed playing bad guys from being a Renegade in Mass Effect to being an evil Dungeon Keeper. But the Wilkerson storyline is just plain one side and incomplete, with no resolution to the climax and no benefit at all to being good. As a matter of fact, you actually lost out on supplies by playing the good guy for this story line. I don't expect this game to have the depth of Walking Dead, but some effort should be placed to put equal reward/punishment for moral decisions like these to put the players into a dilemma.
I actually hoped for a struggle between different camp of survivors. Imagine my joy when the Courthouse storyline came to be and the disappointment with the abrupt end to this. Wasted potential I must say. That's not to say the game is bad, it's pure fun as a matter of fact, it just would've been much more. I'm going to assume undead lab simply do not have the funding or resources to implement these ideas and maybe they hired a terrible storyteller, but I'm certainly keeping an eye out for their future releases.

The mod is actually pretty simple to install and you can always ask for help from the modder Adeno, who is very friendly to newbies of modding, in the official forum. I asked one question he explain it in a way that is very similar to what you would find in a TV manual, very clear and newbie-friendly. Just saying if anyone wanted to try but has no mod experience. But of course, waiting for the DLC is also cool. It's pretty much the mode everyone is waiting for. A true sandbox experience.
What you said about the story is pretty true although I am not sure if they would expand on it. Class 4 is a MMORPG so they probably don't really focus on the story as much as the other aspects of the gameplay. I would say that it's one of the few weaknesses of their team so far. That and I think they have no resource to implement human vs human combat, such a shame. I really hope they can do a DLC that expand on a little HvH. I wanna play an a-hole group that just raid every other groups for once.

ooo i just moved into the warehouse. ed recovered liao.
i have not done the other quests yet.
memento available - go back to ranger station find watch
and other 4 more - army - wilkersons - find missing guy jack - court house
careful if u decide to go back to the lake camp to get Lily's father's memento. Better bring a fren along with 100 influence.
THe first time that I play SoD, my main character Marcus was killed by Feral when I go back to get the memento. I recall there were hordes, feral and screamer in the lake camp there. Damn tough if u go alone. maybe it was random spawn or wad. But juz bring sum1 with u. safer.

State of Decay sells 2 million copies combined across Steam and Xbox Live
QUOTE
Developer Undead Labs has announced that its zombie survival game State of Decay has sold 2 million copies on Steam and Xbox 360. People love zombies.
That number doesn't include any of the various DLC packs available for the game, which is even more impressive.
State of Decay hit Xbox Live in June 2013 and made it to Steam Early Access by September of the same year. By around this exact time last year the game had reached its first million sales. With the remastered and enhanced State of Decay: Year-One Survival Edition set to come to Xbox One in 2015, that success shows no sign of slowing down just yet.
"Two million calls for a hell of a celebration," reads a blog post from the team. "We’ve already announced everything we can when it comes to the future of State of Decay — and then some — so we’re going to kick off a month long celebration."
Details are yet to be announced as to exactly what that means, but Undead Labs advise fans to keep an eye on their various social media channels for further information.
