Actually....... Zakk DOES use them...... that's one of the key things to his sounds. He rarely (if ever) uses normal tunings. It's always a full-step down with the now D dropped to a C for the albums (Stronger Then Death and above) and it's a Full-step and then another half step down with the D tuned to a C also when he plays live....... That's why he uses such heavy gauges. For his normal tunings.... he usually tunes the E to a B and keeps it there..... that's when he uses the .70s. Rest of the time, he uses the .60s.

Trust me......... I'm the Zakk Wylde fanatic here. I use the heavier gauge because most of the time, I play riffs more often (usually drop the last string down a full step and just barr the bottom 3 strings) so I get a nicer chunky sound when playing metal. And the heavier gauges are EXCELLENT for Pings of Death..... Some how with lighter gauge (Like what's on my Epi Zakk Wylde), the pings arn't as heavy as my LP-100..... waiting to change the pick-ups and strings to get it's full potential!!!

ALSO...... he coils he strings around the tailbar..... another reason why he uses the thicker gauge.....

FYI...... will try to go down to Bentley hopefully tommorow to pick up the errmm.... pick-ups.... if they still have 'em. Then get 'em fixed on Tuesday at Woh Fatt...... Bentley charges crazy for pick-up installation...... Rm50 for each pickup!!!!!!!!!!!

Just practise your pinches before attempting any songs.....
But if you want a real Pinch Harmonic workout, try Counterfit God from their Stronger Then Death album.

Oh yeah...... I got my EMG-ZWs..... now shopping for a place to install them. Last place I want to go is Woh Fatt because of downtown and jam and all that..... Anyone knows how much the guitar store charges for pickup changing and setup?

And should we meet up anytime during 7th - 14th of August?? I got a mid semester break then..... what say ya??? Bentley to test out some amps and show over the new and improved Epi Zakk Wylde??!!

Hehehehe..... you should have asked me 4 weeks ago man!!!! Oh well.... Hand Carry weight? Um..... put it this way..... They let me in with one of the heaviest Les Paul Epiphone had to offer....... 'nuff said. Bringing back a guitar should be no problem..... put it in a SOFT case (Hard case they MIGHT ask you to check it in and then you can kiss your beautiful guitar good bye after the luggage handlers toss it all over the place) and hand carry it along on the plane.

Oh yeah....... this is how f'ing Noob I am...... I just read the Manual for the EMG-ZWs..... and just realized that the stupid idiot at Woh Fatt SWAPPED IN THE WRONG PICK-UPS FOR MY LP-100!!!!!!! The EMG-81 has a silver logo and the EMG-85 has a gold logo....... They put the 85 in the bridge and the 81 in the neck!!!!!!!!!!!! Imagine..... me not noticing that........Stooooopid Noob..... I'm now officially the laughing stock of the forum.
sigh.......

SO if it's a Quik-Connect, I can just swap 'em myself without soldering anything, right? They are both actives anyway........

Yeah..... I was thinking about the Half Stack, All Tube.....First things first, I can't play it too loud..... my practise room is really small..... Second of all..... I might have no place for a half stack...... I might have to settle for the Marshall AVT150 Combo........ say it ain't so...... but, that's the reality of a small space where I can't play loud.......sigh...........................

Oh..... and I roughly know how to setup, in terms of adjusting the height and all that.... will have to experiment for a bit and also gives me a good reason to change the strings on my LP-100..... Sayang to throw away 40 Ringgit worth of strings!!!!

And I'm sending my ZW LP to either Guitar Collection or Guitar Shop..... if I can't do it this week, I'll send it to Bentley then. Still awaiting the price from the Guitar Shop to properly change the pickups and setup as well...... maybe findout how much to fix that crack too.

Well..... Now I've FINALLY put the ugly incident behind me..... I swapped the pick-ups and gave it a quick setup and it sounds great now. More punch to the harmonics....... FINALLY.........

Will have to take it for a proper setup one of these days...... probably AFTER my ZW Les Paul is fixed.

But also found out the idiot at Woh Fatt Swapped the Volume/Tone toggles also...... usually to operate the Neck pickup, you go for the controls that is higher, closer to you and the bridge pickup's controls is on the lower level, further away from you....... He swapped it the other way round. Didn't really notice because don't play with other guitars much.............. Dumb ass. Only thing right he did was the Toggle Switch..........

And then the setup?? I don't freakin' know how to setup a guitar!!!

Anyway, just sent it in...... Charges me 50 per pickup and 25 for the setup, and can get it back tommorow. Also, they (Guitar Store) is bringing in some new amps...... soliano or something like that...... 50w All Tube..... Half stack..... with cab... about 3800..... Looks like a JCM2000......
Will see if it SOUNDS like it tommorow when I pick up my Epi.....

Don't forget..... I just spent 800 US on a Guitar, and an extra 760 Ringgit on the pickups........
I'm eating bread and drinking water for the rest of the year.

Well, it's on the Week of the 7th...... so any time between the 7th and the 14th of August we can hold a gathering......

The Les Paul is back and it sounds GREAT now!!!! Can't wait to test it on some Marshalls!!!!! The tube amp at The Guitar Store hasn't come in..... so will have to wait for a bit for that.

Don't forget....... I got a freakin' big and heavy ass case to lug around....... Don't want to go Yum Cha where it's tooooo far to walk....

Now I know how Zakk tones his pecs..... lugging his Les Pauls around can already replace weights!!

It's heavy..... but not THAT heavy.....
everyone can lift it..... but will give you all hernia's at the end of the day.

Once I fill the Coffin Case with the Bullseye, Wah, Overdrive and other accessories.... then you can feel it's true weight.

No Wylde Wah??? No Wylde Overdrive??? How can I brag about complete Wylde Dominance then??? Wait..... that didn't sound right.

But honestly.... It'll be quite an interesting jam if EchoB, LedZep (please hold all Brokeback references until AFTER this posting has concluded) and me played in the same room. LedZep runs out first because the pings drives him wild (no pun intended) and then EchoB falls over and break his back trying to lift my Epi Zakk Wylde.

Oh yeah. That's true. I still need to look for an all-in-one power connector for my pedals and wah. Hopefully they'll have something like that in Bentley.
