QUOTE(QuickFire @ Nov 14 2013, 08:13 PM) Got my friend to bring back a 32Gb black from Australia. Shipping is in 4-5 weeks, with a $AUD20 shipping fee. Total is about $AUD469, about RM 1,400. She'll only be back on 1st Jan, damn, such a long wait. My friend bought an iPhone 5 on Apple's Australia official site and the device is shipped all the way from China. He still able to claim tax refund (roughly 9.1%, its reduced from last year's 10%) but you have to print the right invoice and present it to the officer as a proof at the airport. I did that when I bought my belt last year (But its bought in a physical store). I just ordered mine too. 16GB BLACK. JUST CAN'T WAIT Anyone knows how to get the GST refund at the australian airport? That will save me about RM 125. This post has been edited by zorbyss.: Nov 15 2013, 12:28 PM |

QUOTE(KLlee @ Nov 20 2013, 09:04 AM) +1 G2 has great battery life. Like really great. Software features are adequate but not OVERLOADED (I'm looking at you, samsung.) Despite the design is kinda... Off. There should be some love for the G2 here. Back button is a innovative IMHO. |

QUOTE(barbar554 @ Dec 1 2013, 11:54 AM) Well, i have seen people claimed it but are Australians when they leave Australia.just see if any Malaysian manage to do it. They actually request a different invoice from Google. AFAIK, the invoice that initially received by buyers is not legit for the tax claim. |

QUOTE(tanjinjack @ Dec 1 2013, 03:50 PM) Here's my own research about getting GST refund on Australian set. My friend will process it for me when she's coming back late December. All information is extracted from here: Thanks for the detailed write-up. http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2050306 Google Asia Pacific, despite operating in Singapore (and have their warehouses in HK), is registered to ABN. Registration to ABN means they are charging you GST under Australian laws. For that, as a tourist, you have the right to claim GST under the TRS scheme. Link courtesy to QuickFire: http://abr.business.gov.au/SearchByAbn.aspx?abn=54341015381 Despite the clear clause of "good purchased over the internet and imported into Australia", it does not seem to apply for Australian Google Play devices because you are still charged the Australian GST, which you have the right to claim refund of. The clause is to prevent claim from purchases made without GST being charged, say buying something off ebay from US. Here's what you need to do (and what I will ask my friend to do): 1. Request a tax invoice from Google. My friend got it by getting in touch by Google with this link (https://support.google.com/googleplay/contact/us_tax_exempt) (doesn't matter if information seems applicable to US). Some guy should reply you and tell you bull shit about eligibility of tax refund. What we need to do here is to get tax invoice, not requesting refund directly from Google. Send in the email in the form like: Usually you should get the tax invoice in email in 24 hours based on my friend and the whirlpool discussion. Your tax invoice should look something like this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7u7hepag758u34d/n5-tax-invoice.png 2. Print the tax invoice out, preferably on a colour printer. On the whirlpool thread, there are people who got rejected the refund on the basis that the self-printed tax invoice is not an "original copy" of tax invoice. So, when you print it out, and got challenged if it's mailed directly from Google, answer "Yes!". I doubt the TRS staff will have ways to prove otherwise it's not from Google directly. (If you request a hardcopy, Google probably also prints out using the same file anyway, isn't it?) 3. Bring the phone with you. You need to show the good to the TRS staff. It needs not be sealed in box as far as I am concerned. You probably have some paperwork to fill, but you should be good to get the refund. Proof: In the whirlpool thread, a post on 15 Nov 2013 by user Jayau has successfully claimed the refund. Receipt: https://db.tt/LVOlYVoV All these are from the whirlpool thread and credits to all of the forumers there. You can read them yourself and you are likely to find the same info as me. I can't say mine is the definitive guide until my friend tried it out. Maybe someone can test it out first. So far as I see, it should be fine. |

QUOTE(Tsukiyomi001 @ Dec 2 2013, 02:25 PM) I know, I guess we can hope for the day where amoleds get as efficient as lcds Use Lux.More on the screen: I hope Google fixes the auto brightness The screen has a very wide range of brightness, but auto brightbess only adjusts in a very narrow range, and its worse that it adjusts too bright for almost every situation, this ends up killing the battery |

QUOTE(barbar554 @ Dec 4 2013, 11:23 PM) My girlfriend is staying in Melbourne at her aunt's place. I know how you feel bro. No offence but girls (usually) So I sent her the money via PayPal and got her to order the phone on my behalf. She'll only be coming back on Dec 27... SO LOOOOONG, MY NEXUS! I really wish it comes with no defects whatsoever 'cause she's a total newb when it comes to handling all the crap that comes with the RMA process and neither do I want to trouble her. better ask her open to check all the necessary stuff on the list. as i did ask my friend to do the same thing when he gets mine. arhhhh. the RM300 less is worth the wait man. |
