Oh.. That means it's not like Origin which steam provide cd-key. I use the cd-key to activate in Origin; download and play using Origin.

So, if I buy in Steam I will face double DRM before I can play such as Assassin Creed?

So, in short, buying a UPlay game on Steam would mean that it will have double DRM. At the same time, i think you cant use the Uplay program to download your UPlay games from Steam. You have to download the Uplay Steam game from Steam, then, you have to login on Steam then UPlay just to play a Uplay Steam game.

I actually regretted buying Anno 2070 from Steam due to that as its a pain in the ass to login 3 times just to play a video game. Anno 2070 also have another in-game login for their servers while the Anno launcher is really slow.

If you found a good deal elsewhere for UPlay games, just buy it to be honest than buying it on Steam. I'll pick single DRM over double or triple DRM any day.

For Origin, you can activate the game and download it using the Origin client. And if you installed the Steam version and running it from Origin, both DRM will run so you can use Steam feature and Origin feature, mostly the Origin cloud since EA games doesn't have Steam cloud support.

For UPlay, the key you got from Steam has a special Steam tag. When you activate it on UPlay client and click "Play", a Steam window will pop up and ask you to download the game, if you haven't download yet. And you have to download the game through Steam. So you will face double DRM issue.

Yeah, but the bit where you launch the Anno 2070 with their own patcher and server login, that part takes very very long in comparison to Uplay or Steam. Uplay is fairly slow to be honest and Anno patcher is even worse.

Digital copies from say Gamersgate or GMG(if available) would be fine too.

f2p not too bad.
if not "pay to win"

those who can wait. dun mind wait. or grind.
plays for free.

those who do not wish to wait. spends real monies.

i.e. ghost recon online free to play.
i can play that game without spending real monies on bullets etc and still kill people nicely.

The problem with F2P is the grind if you choose to play for free because the developers will tune to the grind to be really slow compared to retail games like CoD or BF that is already slow enough. And I really dislike grinding in F2Ps because it takes very long to progress further where it is totally not fun playing this sort of games at all.

If you choose to pay for those games, you'll probably have to pay continuously to take advantage. At the same time, most developers cannot be trusted with this sort of business model because a good F2P today doesnt mean it will still be good on the next day.

Ill take retail games over F2P any day.

hmmm i am not sure how single player games will work with free to play though.

nosgoth online seems to be based in the legacy of kain universe.
kinda sad to see a great single player story series become free to play online though.
i was expecting more epic stories from that series.
not sure what kind of story to expect from free to play online games though.
