Tips to Survive Major Steam Sales

QUOTE
Rule #1:
From now until the LAST DAY of the sale, if a game is on sale as a daily deal or flash deal, you can buy it. If it is only "on sale" through July 23, pass. Do not buy. Save your money (you may need it).

Rule #2:
Check each day for the daily deals, and monitor flash deals. As games come up that you want, you can get them. Just continue to exercise self control for games that are not a daily/flash deal.

Rule #3:
You can purchase the large packs, such as the THQ pack or Square-Enix/Eidos pack at any time if you wish. It is extremely unlikely that those bundles will be discounted any further, even though individual games in those packs may become daily deals. If you want a bundle, go for it. Lots of games, excellent price.

Rule #4:
On the LAST DAY of the sale, Steam traditionally makes its daily deals an encore of the most popular daily deals from the previous days. Go nuts. Buy everything you wanted. New games are almost never on the daily deals during the last day. At this point, it is safe to buy anything else you've been waiting on.

Rule #5:
If you miss a game from a daily deal, STILL DO NOT BUY IT until the last day. As I said, the final day often recaps previous days' daily deals, so there is still a chance the game you missed could come around as a daily deal again. Don't rush it. If it doesn't, you can still buy it at the standard sale price on the last day, and just be sad you missed the daily deal. Just remember that if you missed it on one day, it's not necessarily too late. Save money by keeping a cool head.

Reput my last thread again

Anyone know MacGuffin's Curse come with what bundle?
I found this game in my library but I can't remember where it come from.

I got extra of Batman: Arkham Asylum GOTY from humble bundle, will like to trade with any of these:

Mount & Blade
Majesty 2 Collection
Hoard Complete Pack
Crusader Kings Complete
Knights & Merchants

Is that ok to trade for this?(I not selling the game, just exchange with other for those bundle game, if not allow, let me know, I just keep that batman) In humble bundle, I can send particular game as gift to someone right?
*
Please post this in the trading thread. You request for trade will be buried by other posts soon.

Oh.. That means it's not like Origin which steam provide cd-key. I use the cd-key to activate in Origin; download and play using Origin.

So, if I buy in Steam I will face double DRM before I can play such as Assassin Creed?
*
So, in short, buying a UPlay game on Steam would mean that it will have double DRM. At the same time, i think you cant use the Uplay program to download your UPlay games from Steam. You have to download the Uplay Steam game from Steam, then, you have to login on Steam then UPlay just to play a Uplay Steam game.

I actually regretted buying Anno 2070 from Steam due to that as its a pain in the ass to login 3 times just to play a video game. Anno 2070 also have another in-game login for their servers while the Anno launcher is really slow.

If you found a good deal elsewhere for UPlay games, just buy it to be honest than buying it on Steam. I'll pick single DRM over double or triple DRM any day.

Yeah, but the bit where you launch the Anno 2070 with their own patcher and server login, that part takes very very long in comparison to Uplay or Steam. Uplay is fairly slow to be honest and Anno patcher is even worse.

f2p not too bad.
if not "pay to win"

those who can wait. dun mind wait. or grind.
plays for free.

those who do not wish to wait. spends real monies.

i.e. ghost recon online free to play.
i can play that game without spending real monies on bullets etc and still kill people nicely.
*
The problem with F2P is the grind if you choose to play for free because the developers will tune to the grind to be really slow compared to retail games like CoD or BF that is already slow enough. And I really dislike grinding in F2Ps because it takes very long to progress further where it is totally not fun playing this sort of games at all.

If you choose to pay for those games, you'll probably have to pay continuously to take advantage. At the same time, most developers cannot be trusted with this sort of business model because a good F2P today doesnt mean it will still be good on the next day.

Ill take retail games over F2P any day.

hmmm i am not sure how single player games will work with free to play though.

nosgoth online seems to be based in the legacy of kain universe.
kinda sad to see a great single player story series become free to play online though.
i was expecting more epic stories from that series.
not sure what kind of story to expect from free to play online games though.
*
Some F2P consultants actually figured it out how to monetise single player games as F2P but the problem lies on, who wants to pull the trigger first and face the wrath of gamers.

Paypal. CC cannot use. Need US address or UK address. Not sure if they check.

Damn it, i thought cant buy cause i saw Ace Patrol being sold for $1 last month. doh.gif

QUOTE(ChocChristy @ Nov 7 2013, 02:12 PM)
Didn't know Squeenix was making Nosgoth F2P O.O. Dang it, I want a sequel to Legacy of Kain! Want him to kick the octopus' ass and what not. The series is probably one of the most complicated and amazing story I've ever seen in video games.
*
And they actually had a Legacy of Kain single player game, called Dead Sun or something that was in development. Then, they can it for Nosgoth despite Dead Sun was quite far off. Eidos also have a prototype Soul Reaver game, which is also canned for Nosgoth.

Please burn in hell, Square Enix. Making everything to F2P isnt thinking outside their square, or erm, box.

It does looks amazing but i think the campaign will fail due to poor marketing.

It is another game by Bugbear where they have so much experience in developing racing games.

QUOTE(Deimos Tel`Arin @ Nov 7 2013, 02:48 PM)
hmmm i hope they fold and some good companies buy the various IPs off them.
i.e. tomb raider, legacy of kain, deus ex, etc.

maybe bethsoft. zenimax.

bethsoft zenimax not too bad right?

elder scrolls online will be pay to play with monthly sub. not free to play.

so far elder scrolls offline series no disappoint us yet.
*
Dont know, but I dont think I can trust Bethesda with those good IPs. Scared they just sit on it and do nothing with it like what Nordic did with Red Faction, Sup Com and Titan Quest. doh.gif

exaggeration on my part. it only affect the EU retail copies. the EU version was delayed for 2 weeks and supposed to be released 8 Nov which is yesterday. until now, no one succeed in activating their game. There are VPN users, but I wont risk my account for that. Still no word from WB about this issue and Steam keep throwing copy-and-paste replies to all tickets regarding this issue.
Some people managed to contact WB people through email and teh only reply is to try the key again after few days. emphasize on FEW DAYS. doh.gif  doh.gif
*
Sigh, Warner has to know that EU does export a lot of EU games to quite a few countries outside EU, they cant be pulling this sort of shit to be honest. I know a lot of Aussie gamers also get games from EU.

No, you have to pick one by one to sell it on the market.

Still. I don't think crates worth much to be honest.
