RCA do have ground, the outer one it is. to make RCA to TRS 3.5mm we connect TRS' ground to RCA outer later contact.

a nice article to read regarding cables to use for interconnects
http://www.bluejeanscable.com/articles/balanced.htm

quotes,,,,
"---it is important to use balanced cable for balanced circuits, and unbalanced cable for unbalanced circuits."
"Coaxial cable, not twisted pair audio cable, is the right choice when connecting unbalanced components"

audiophile thingy don't have the best sound, only have the most suitable sound tongue.gif just choose which suitable for you

now the problem is my family complains the power filter EXTREMELY UGLY, but i dun have art talent at all,
how should i design to make the power filter more beautiful?
the cable will connect to ceiling, theres a wire casing so i will connect the following cable to there,
currently temporary using cheap plug to listen to music (where the cable connected too, temporary)

maybe use heatshrink or anything else? please guide me sweat.gif

Erm, just use multiple layer cupboard to re-organize all your stuff?
Or use a cupboard with swing door at the front, take off the back board so all the wires goes to the back, all should looks neat.
Picture to demo how it looks like in a short moment.

thanks for ur point but my family doesnt complain the equipment are ugly, just the power cord and filter doh.gif

edit : decided to get arcylic casing, thanks

shielding is to prevent signal interference. Actually there are shielding on certain higher end iem or headphones cables. For example, shure SE215 default cable already has shielding on it.

Mostly build on RCA and data cables because normally these cables are near to other high current electrical device that might give out some interference.

Hi, heres my plan, I plan to make 2 meter cable for my D2000k
The cable will solder into 6.35mm plug and another side to headphone with 4% silver solder cream
Because my tube amp output is 6.35mm so i don't want any adapter between them

Any recommendations? Anything after 3mm sleeving will "stop" when the left/right cable split their way
I use thick anti vibration layer because this cable (silver plated teflon OCC) have stethoscope effect. I don't mind its thick or heavy

After reading here i decided to changed my design. What should i use to fit those empty spaces? Also, is braiding required in this situation?

EDIT: DECIDED DON'T USE 8MM SLEEVE.

Pardon me for my noobness tongue.gif actually I don't quite understand your design, are you going to do it where there are 2 cables, each of the cables has 4 cores of conductors in it? each cable for one side, each side signal and ground has 2 cores conductor?
*
yeah. i mentioned i've read this design :
http://www.canare.com/UploadedDocuments/Cat11_p35.pdf
Splitting the core can greatly reduce noise. there are graph inside brows.gif
Also, making cable like this can let me feel better because the L/R are totally splitted, just like RCA cables brows.gif

Now my plan still quadstar design with silver plated OCC copper loose cable (0.4mm)

(4*0.4mm silver plated OCC copper wire -> 1.5mm² copper shield -> 3mm sleeve) *2(L/R) -> 6mm² copper shield -> 8mm sleeve with cotton

BTW i have around 2meter 6mm² copper shield for sale anyone interested brows.gif
