hi folks, wanna ask.

1) Where I live, UMobile has no 3G. At least i've tried it on a RM8 SIM card (normal sim, with the big sized gold plate, cannot cut to nano or micro sim size)

2) However, I noticed that people have always mentioned that UMOBILE's 3G coverage, if its outside of its own coverage, will roam into Maxis 3G's coverage. Is this true? (the reason I ask is that no matter what I do, I can only see UMOBILE GPRS, and not 3G)

Assuming if #2 is correct, is there any way for me using UMOBILE SIM to latch on to maxis's 3G roaming? or its just not meant to be like that? Kindly advice please?

Did you enable roaming in your phone settings?

And does your phone support 3G?

The phone supports 3G. I'm thinking that this may be the SIM issue.

I did enable data roaming, but this is a custom ROM so i'm not so sure.

I'm more inclined to think that there is a SIM issue, because this is a brand new SIM, but uses the old big gold plated ones (that you can never cut) instead of the newer Nano and MICRO sized chips (the gold plates are much smaller) and therefore you can cut them.

I've not been able to test them on other devices because I can't cut it. I guess I will have to see if anyone else in Sabah actually gets their 3G roaming on same SIM.

May I know there are any differences using nano sim or micro sim instead  normal
Sim?

I'm not sure, as I've said. I'm just saying that my situation as of the moment, i'm pinning it to SIM issue, unless there are other users in Sabah (or Semporna that can get full 3G roaming via Maxis) with a similar SIM.
