QUOTE(pu27 @ Dec 3 2014, 11:36 PM)
It's not clear on their website at all, they just wanna hide the important truth of internet surfing/data usage, SPEED. 250MB but what's the minimum download speed? 64kbps? Hotlink provides 64kbps without 250MB limit. Both require you to top up RM30 per month(or hotlink just need to stay active, i.e: RM5 - 5 days)
So why isn't hotlink better? I'm considering which to switch to..
*
i don't think that they wanna hide the important truth, maybe just lack of details there.
u may enjoy 1 month data with UMI18 for 250mb high speed data (1.5mbps), Umi28 or above is TOP SPEED
the top up RM 30 is extra free 30mb high speed data and also 250 mb if u are mnp from other telco. Not necessary to be better than Hotlink but just another good option, lets make a comparision:

let say you mnp to hotlink / umobile then top up 30
1. hotlink got 30 days active validity, 30 credits to call, free 30 days 64kbps data, umobile got 60 days active validity, 30 credits to call, free 250mb high speed data.

2. call rate : hotlink i m not that familiar, umobile 0.2/min to all telco, 0.6/min to umobile
if the call rate is not important then just leave it

3. with the balance RM 30, u may go for RM 30 1gb high speed data from hotlink, or RM 28 1gb data and 50mins free call from umobile.

QUOTE(esmonde @ Dec 4 2014, 11:04 AM)
hey guys,

Usually to check my broadband data usage,  I will send an SMS DATA2 to 28118 from the MIFI device.

Then after the bill come, I noticed they charge me for every SMS I sent to 28118.

Is there any other way for me to check my broadband usage without charges?

Thank you.
*
yup since 2 years ago sending sms to check quota might charge RM 0.05 /sms, u may login the 192.168.0.1 there to check cool2.gif

Thanks for the update. I don't trust the modem information because last month when I compare the data used from Umobile and the info in the modem, it is different.

Maybe the MIFI calculate internal network activity too.
*
nono i mean with Umobile Logo Mifi. after u connect the portal, there is an option for USSD code to check ur quota , just same as you put the sim into ur phone and dial *118*2*3#

The whole point of their promotion is FREE 250MB Data, so let's not talk about the internet plan like UMI18 UMI28 and so on.

1. So MNP to Umobile I'll get free 250MB @HSDPA/LTE(like at least getting 5mbps) speed for 30 days with RM30 top up, without buying any of the UMI internet plans. Correct?
Also "60 days active validity" you mean in the 60 days I get to make calls, not just receive calls?

2. It's cheaper to call to other telco than to umobile number? how come?
*
1. yup 60 days active validity, umobile offer 2times validity for top up 5, 10, 30,50,and 100, other amount very confusing like top up RM 20 only 20 days, top up 35 only got 60 days...
2. haha typo, should be 0.06 to umobile tongue.gif

as a consumer, i do DREAM for that too, unlimited 4g internet, but obviously
not efficient by offering such plan because umobile most customer base are in city, either u like it or not, either they better or just normal, significantly increase on subscribers is surely happening, and they even planning to cut data in the coming plans, even unifi promised 60GB top speed data only, which means FASTER internet is coming, but not CHEAPER =.= maybe after umobile get listed first, they planned for this more than 4 years just because unable to get a good revenue.

as a dealer, good news is umobile giving more benefit to customers and more advertisement to promote their products, I love to see that, but bad news is they cut their budget on dealer benefit cry.gif , I tends to increase the price of my products too tongue.gif

QUOTE(stren89 @ Dec 19 2014, 06:47 PM)
Now you're talking about dealer's benefit.

I tell you if uMobile starts unlimited plan and all UniFi users start canceling their contract renewals, as a uMobile dealer you stand to benefit from lots of commission too ya know.

Unlimited 4G LTE is a norm now in South Korea and Taiwan with all mobile telcos already having such plans there.
4G networks are purely used for data and was designed to handle such loads.

With yesterday's result of testing, many on the 4G LTE covered areas could reach speeds over 30Mbps more so during off peak hours. People were pulling down like 10GB-15GB of contents within just a single day.

It's quite a success that Unlimited mobile plans might become a reality in near future.
*
what i wanted to point out is Umobile won't simply spend money without big return, u can see their 4g coverage almost no improvement for 1 year, either they would SPEND here, CUT there, best part for customer is BETTER benefit for customers, BETTER benefit for dealer who explain and promote their package. At the same time i believe they would CUT other benefit too just like what they did from 3x validity to 2x validity, 15% extra credit for IDD call and 6months 15% extra credit for MNP, so for umobile to invest big money for large coverage for 4g LTE should be few years project, but what i am very very sure is now HOTLINK and CELCOM are working on their 4g 1800mhz with Huawei currently.

QUOTE(HexPhoenix @ Dec 20 2014, 02:19 AM)
hi guys. sorry to interrupt, but i do have question bout umobile broadband (customer-will-be-if everything's ok)

i plan to take RM128 plan. but have a few questions:

1. Is the upfront payment stated at umobile website really the upfront payment? i don't want my celcom or maxis episode happen again... suddenly ask for 2 months upfront + fee...
2.is umobile charge pay per use after quota finished? or unlimited use on lower speed without additional charges? if so, how much speed they reduce after quota finish?
3. for mifi, is it better to get it from them or just buy online on LYN trade zone? since i'm not sure about the quality of the mifi they give and if there's better option out there online, i most probably only opt in for sim only.
4. this stated on their website:

Promotion period till 31 Dec 2014.
All off-peak quota is free until 31 Dec 2015.

what promotion? quota promotion? is off-peak quota needed to be activate before use? or that 30GB only applicable during promo period? after that 30GB will only be 20GB? i am confused about this.

btw, i live in 3g coverage area and lte is still a distant far away from reaching my place. so if there's suggestion about mifi modem, i mostly preferred a 3g only version (except if the price difference between 3g and 4g mifi too small).

thanks. smile.gif
*
1. u may treat the UPFRONT = DEPOSIT 1 month payment, may used to offset the last bill when u terminate, I am pretty sure I never heard some 1 being told to return modem or 2 months upfront or something similar from customers, unless that sales person purposely cheating u.
2. after quota = throttle speed @ 64kbps
3. umobile 3g wifi currently is zte mf65, huawei 5220, u may compare with other modem first before purchasing, i do sell them separately too, including sierra 754s mifi
4. means if u subscribe the postpaid mb128 before this month end, u enjoy 10gb +20gb off peak till 31dec 2015, if u subscribe on 1 jan 2015 u only got 10gb monthly

my offer for 3g mifi and 4g mifi would be 159 and 250, if RM 100 is only slight difference for u then u might consider to get 4g mifi

QUOTE(AskarPerang @ Dec 20 2014, 12:15 PM)
the prepaid umobile broadband that you are selling still valid right for 2015?
*
i can't tell maybe next year or 2016, but pretty sure umobile would cut down their DATA package since no competitors are selling such high volume but cheap price data package, and i sell it even cheaper , i tends to increase the price too while umobile cutting off some benefit from me. sweat.gif

Umobile doesn't have agreement with Apple to get LTE network, so, cannot

it different with ALTEL which are using Celcom line, so they could get 4G network in iDevice

you can call them to downgrade, and need to bear any penalties/fees

If UM do not introduce new plan to substitute the removal of extra off peak quota on 1/1/2015, the future potential customers will go to maxis or digi or other telcos that do offer extra off peak data package.
*
haha i don't think so, because I am here giving discount on umobile but not on digi maxis celcom thumbup.gif
btw, very very low portion of my customers utilize the off peak quota, and most of my customers choose my prepaid broadband with cheaper price and whole day 24 hours usage quota rather than BIG VOLUME OF USELESS off peak quota for most customers, maybe suitable for the university students to download during midnight sad.gif

QUOTE(digilife @ Dec 25 2014, 09:56 AM)
My take on Mobile Internet Plans [ voice included ] ~ sim that you use on Smart Fon  [ which you can tether to laptop ]

Nowadays when new plans like  Maxis One Plan , Celcom First Plan are introduced, they give you less data for higher price & if you need more data, they will charge you extra.

DG current offerings ~ Postpaid Smart Plan is considered the best because for rm50[rm5 rebate via online billing] gives you 4GB Data + 100 Mins.

Umobile on the other hand will be revising their offerings come 2015 ~ could be worst than current offerings too but UM's 3G/4G coverage is not that good, so not much impact will be felt.

Still Maxis Biz/Bes 68/99 & Legacy99 is the best around, 10GB for rm68/99. Do you guys regret in terminating it ?

Maxis 3G/4G is one of the most stable currently.
*
i can't see any DG 4GB + 100min with RM 50
i only saw 2GB + 100 min with RM 50 (rm5 rebate for 6 months only when u sign 1 year contract)
