Sigh when they gonna fix this os limitation on notification. Sad. It seems they gonna integrate whatsapp into windows phone smile.gif good news rite? don't know when though u can google it
*
Honestly I've had no issues with Whatsapp notifications since August, the only time it doesn't work is of course when battery is too low & battery saver mode is on. Apart from that it works so well I often had to mute a bunch of groups so I don't get disturbed sweat.gif

never had whatsapp noti problems on my WP7...deswai sked to move to WP8 hehe
*
If you used WP7 before, why r u scared of moving to WP8? That's the most weird reason honestly. WP8 is way more stable & Whatsapp works even better in WP8 compared to WP7. thumbup.gif

QUOTE(NecroPhilia @ Jan 3 2014, 05:21 PM)
I'm regret on this Lumia - - This is quite disappointing experience compare to my last Lumia(720 and 710). This 1520 lag all the way. even I typing and surfing web,it lag like hell - - I wonder it is defect unit or it work like that.
I swipe the phone,it took it as touch - -
I surf apps store typing, the words delay 3 seconds
I surf lowyat forum,it keep stuck in IE
I tried UC browser, same thing lagging

I seriously disappointed on this phone already sigh.. sad.gif

I'm nokia and WP fans since the beginning of Nokia Lumia series. My family member all using Lumia phones but this indeed different case :S  I wonder how to solve the problem I having :S

I knew you would feel laughing on me switch from Nokia Lumia to Iphone smile.gif but this phone seriously spoiled my experience towards windows phone :S

As what my experience on windows is lag-less and smooth phone,it has the fluidity feeling but not on this phone :S
*
Wow! Sorry to hear bout your L1520 experience being this bad but I think it could be a faulty unit. My experience changing from L920 is more speed & smoothness only. Now when I use back the L920 which my wife is using, it feels slower. I honestly never thought it can be faster but my L1520 proved that it can be faster.

I also don't know can now. I think during the days 920 when i first bought have to factory one.
Sorry yeah.. Very not up-to-date with the latest news hahaha
*
Aiya reset phone to change region is WP7 only lah haha! WP8 just change from settings & restart phone. I'm always in USA region but change back to MY to buy games since its always cheaper compared to current exchange rate.

Sad to hear that bro sad.gif Anyway since it didn't affect our image quality that captured by our camera,so cheers bro  rclxms.gif let's enjoy our phone, hope it wont lag again to me sad.gif

You bought your casing bro? smile.gif I'm now so worried the body get scratch, now using microfiber cloth on the table, only use the phone on the microfiber cloth until the casing arrived sad.gif
*
Hey bro, glad to hear a reset fixed your lag issue. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(NecroPhilia @ Jan 15 2014, 11:27 PM)
Guys,I just installed apps like Nokia Camera,Dictionary,Battery,camera360,lumia system updater, metrotube, youtube HD,whatsapp, wikipedia and UC browser. but the phone started to lag already - - how many apps do you guys install? I had blocked all the background task but still it laggy - - not so responsive, same as what I had bring the phone back at the first day. I asked the Nokia there, they keep ask me do hard reset only - -
*
Oh no, not again. Anyway, I have around 100+ apps + games installed & no lag encountered. Sadly it seems like a hardware issue for your phone. Anyway, u can try to remove an app or 2, restart the phone see if maybe an app is causing it. Long shot but who knows.

QUOTE(apecx92 @ Jan 16 2014, 04:07 PM)
just now picked my phone at ncc. now the camera no more shaky.

just wanna ask does you phone have the same os version? here mine.

os version: 8.0.10517.150
firmware revision: 1028.3534.1343.003
hardware revision: 5.0.0.1
radio soft version: 1.0.26028.0001
chip soc ver: 8974
*
Same as mine.

QUOTE(apecx92 @ Jan 16 2014, 06:21 PM)
done some testing.

in af mode: low light enviroment. shutter speed 4sec = pic kinda blurry

in manual focus mode : low light enviroment. shutter speed 4sec = pic really sharp.

could be software problem?  using nokia camera hmm.gif
*
AF has always been bad at trying to focus in low light so unless you enabled focus assist light, your findings seem normal to me. If you did enable focus assist light, most likely it means the place u trying to focus is a bit far away. Hehe.

Guys what is your discharge rate? Mine is 8.x with surfing lowyat and no background task and no multitasking..
*
Daily is around -3.9%, this is with lots of news reading, checking emails, whatsapp. If I play games then it can reach -8%

QUOTE(mavezai1984 @ Jan 19 2014, 12:14 PM)
Guess Nokia had no idea how to control Snapdragon 800. laugh.gif

Basically whatever I do with my 1520, FB, IE, Metrotubing to name a few, I can basically few heat from upper camera part of the phone almost instant. Not really intense heat but really uncomfortable to hold horizonly. Basically I don't really feel those on Note 3. hmm.gif

1 more thing is about charging, sometimes it detect charger within 3 sec, sometimes in 30 sec and sometimes it doesn't and I had to reboot phone (happened once only). sweat.gif

Wondering how u guys comment about yours?
*
1) Nokia doesn't control Snapdragon 800 directly. Thatis handled by OS side which is under Microsoft.

2) For almost all the stuff I do on my 1520, it doesn't get hot at all, This includes web browsing, reading news from news apps like Weave, CNN, browsing FB, Twitter, Instagram & Whatsapp. The only time it does get hot is when I'm streaming video over 3G, using Waze & playing non 3D games. Weirdly 3D games don't heat up the phone much. I can play Temple Run 2, Subway Surfer & it gets only a bit warm. Play games like the new Microsoft Solitaire Collection & the phone becomes freaking hot.

3) I never encountered any issue with charging. Plug in, by 2 secs it's charging, wired or wireless.

Guess Microsoft can't tame Snapdragon 800 properly. tongue.gif

Well I didn't game too much, just purchase Asphalt 8 for some test compared to Android and yes it play smoother but freaking heat up very fast till the game close itself (and I only goes through a race) biggrin.gif

About charging, no idea, had to observe for a period, if kept on like this, might send to NC. smile.gif
*
I'm guessing Microsoft still need time. Besides this is the 1st Snapdragon 800 phone. Probably needs time for the drivers to mature a little.

Haven't tried Asphalt 8 as I'm still playing 7 but I didn't encounter till freaking hot & game closes itself yet. Touch wood!

QUOTE(NecroPhilia @ Jan 19 2014, 04:54 PM)
Sigh..I do all from 1-17 except 7 and 17 but the battery still sux and the phone easy overheat - - I went to Nokia there and they say it is normal. I told them others people Lumia 1520 doesn't heat up,he duwan to hear - -
*
Hmmm maybe you should bring straight to Nokia Care or another Nokia Care as others suggested. Your phone definitely not normal.

Asphalt 8 is free for today guys. Time to flex that 1520 muscle.

Wow cool!! Darn I'm gonna run out of space on my L1520 laugh.gif

QUOTE(s7ran9er @ Jan 21 2014, 11:29 AM)
Waze is using OpenGL to render the maps while WP8's Waze is using Direct3D, I suspect this is the cause of battery drain.

Because of MS's ego on Direct3D and zero support for OpenGL which is why the cause of sluggish performance and battery performance.

So the current use of Waze is just for you to check traffic, not for navigating. laugh.gif
*
Eh.... if your logic is correct then all games should heat up the phone like mad since they all use Direct3D. But it doesn't since games like Temple Run 2, Subway Surfers, even Jetpack Joyride doesn't heat up the phone much.

That would be the perfectly optimised direct3d?

Probably Waze should learn a thing or 2 from HERE department.
*
LOL! No such thing as perfectly optimised Direct3D lah. All access goes through the same Direct3D API stack at the OS level. Not like games developers go write their own Direct3D driver hehe.

ahh I see. There's an expert in the room.  brows.gif

So whats the cause of the sluggish and battery drain behind Waze eh?
*
Probably how they often they poll data from net over mobile data. This is still a very CPU intensive task on WP.

What delay?

QUOTE(xSean @ Jan 21 2014, 10:39 PM)
no delay even amber...

if u really worry whatsapp notification delay, then use android or ios....

we explained many times, no more issue on notification delay...
*
Yap, no delay since August last year when I was using Lumia 920.

QUOTE(Lamecat @ Jan 22 2014, 05:34 AM)
I am thinking of buying a qi charger pad, is the 1520 from storekini able to use that feature?
*
Yes Lumia 1520 supports Qi wireless charging. I'm using the Nokia Charging Stand, have been using it since Lumia 920.

i have the same problem.

i also noticed that if your 1520 is charging and you try to shut it down....the phone will restart itself automatically.

am thinking of sending my phone back for warranty claim - too many auto restarts issues
*
QUOTE(benny888 @ Feb 5 2014, 08:53 AM)
I tested switching it off first But i noticed phone will restart once i connect to charger
*
This is actually normal behaviour for Windows Phone since WP7. When the phone is off & you plug in charger it will switch on the phone. So if you try to off the phone while charging, it will auto turn on. It's not a restart, just the charging mechanism starts the phone.

Also, I've not encountered any auto restart issues since Dec 2013. At least when it wasn't an app causing it. The Apps Folder app by Nokia actually caused my phone to auto restart when I had way too many apps put in a folder but that's now fixed.

Yeah, it's the mobile theme that has some styling IE doesn't seem to understand well. Happens...... use desktop mode hehe.

Anyway,Thanks a lot yar for you guys replying and state your opinions here smile.gif Great to have you guys in this community. THumbs up (Y) (Y)

Hmmm,do wifi consider as heavy usage?
*
I would put heavy usage as:

1) Playing intense 3D games
2) Streaming video over network data
3) Using GPS navigation apps.

LTE 24/7 does count i think.  tongue.gif
*
Eh... I'm on 3G 24/7, if u just letting it do sync in background it doesn't count as heavy hehe.

QUOTE(PowerGadget @ Feb 24 2014, 01:37 AM)
lol doh.gif Using 2G without data connection 24/7  here smile.gif

1 thing I notice very weird on windows phone if u use h+ and lte it drain intensive of battery life but on android if I get stable h+ my battery life improve.

If I use 2G I get bad battery life.
*
Ha? U get bad battery life with 2G on Android? Hahaha that's so odd. Well I can easily last a day with H+ on this phone, even can put in some gaming again so no complains from me. That wasn't possible on my previous L920.
