Very interested to get this phone.

Currently still comparing this with Xperia Z1 and Z Ultra.
My main use of the phone will be watching anime and take photos.

I see 1520's screen is bigger and clearer and also I like the camera, ZU has larger screen but the camera is disappointing, was thinking to get ZU and QX10 but doesn't fit.

I have never used Windows Phone but it scared me when I go to apps store search "Facebook" there are 10+ "Facebook" come out and some of them have to pay.  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif

Android's Facebook is much more better because of the fluidness and seperate Facebook messenger.

Where as WP8 is still far from reaching that level because the app itself was created by MS but rest assure it just keeps getting better and better.

Though still lack of many things.

Yes the screen is no doubt the best screen I have ever see, love the matte white though! laugh.gif

cant wait for this...
my S3 battery so  sucks and too tired to flash ROM anymore..
need slowdown since phone is for job,
my question is whatsapp and gmail good?
how to transfer gmail contact to this phone?
have google drive?
*
exactly like me when I got my hTC One X.

Whatsapp is okay good but sometimes it will miss notifications.

Gmail is not fully featured but it does the job.

Google contacts can be sync when you setup your phone.

Google Drive? Nope, but we have Skydrive, 27GB for WP users, 77GB for some loyal hotmail users. laugh.gif

Lowyat.net has reported that uncle who attended the seminar is 70+ years old. He also has another Nokia, 920 I remember. Respect really for such an elderly guy who is still following up with technology. I wonder at times whether I can even live up to his age!!! I am now already 59 n though still healthy but life these days is so uncertain!
*
ben were you there that time?

I might want to ask what's inside the goodies bag. laugh.gif

me too, planning to send it tomorrow at nokia care imbi. problem, camera shakes by it self when in full zoom. pic result is blur when in shutter speed 4 sec. hate it when happening like this. =.=''
*
Did you tried mounting the phone into something? Say, a small tripod?

From the video, if you're holding the phone on the table and using a finger to maintain the balance then yes, the phone itself will get some vibration hence the OIS kicks in and for sure you will see some shaking when zoom (digital zoom at that).

When using a DSLR to take a timelapse/long exposure shots, the photogs would usually use a remote because you cannot trust your hands and the holding the shutter tend to gives in some shake hence it would be wise for people to mount their camera on a tripod, frame the shot, use a remote to trigger or use timer.

Waze is using OpenGL to render the maps while WP8's Waze is using Direct3D, I suspect this is the cause of battery drain.

Because of MS's ego on Direct3D and zero support for OpenGL which is why the cause of sluggish performance and battery performance.

So the current use of Waze is just for you to check traffic, not for navigating. laugh.gif

Wow cool!! Darn I'm gonna run out of space on my L1520  laugh.gif
Eh.... if your logic is correct then all games should heat up the phone like mad since they all use Direct3D. But it doesn't since games like Temple Run 2, Subway Surfers, even Jetpack Joyride doesn't heat up the phone much.
*
That would be the perfectly optimised direct3d?

Probably Waze should learn a thing or 2 from HERE department.

LOL! No such thing as perfectly optimised Direct3D lah. All access goes through the same Direct3D API stack at the OS level. Not like games developers go write their own Direct3D driver hehe.
*
ahh I see. There's an expert in the room. brows.gif

So whats the cause of the sluggish and battery drain behind Waze eh?

Thanks. Currently using a year old L720. Best camera for its price IMO. 😁 Just curious where did you guys get yours? I bought my first Lumia 800 from directd and it's a tank still going strong (tho looking at the display now I'd be sure to avoid AMOLED forever). This L720 is from Satu Gadget and it gave me problems from day one.

Just a few hours before I move to the big bad trucker. Woot.
*
Wow Fhaarkas, how you doing man, never seen you in GH or Lumia 720 thread these days. laugh.gif

Hey hey I'm pretty good haha. I'm been off my PC for a lot of months now so haven't been active in forums and games. 😞 Do you have a 1520 as well s7ran9er? 😁
*
Unfortunately no, my Lumia still works great despite suffered a few dents around the corner and staying naked since day 1 I've got it.

1520 is beautiful though, love the slim profile and vibrant color but the screen really screams.
