really? that long?
how come mine not last that long?
*
I set glance screen to Peek mode. Then turn off "Double tap to wake screen" (This is battery eater). Then I don't simply let all those apps run as Background Task unless those like Battery Sense, Weather, Whatsapp, Wechat, Facebook.
Maybe because I am previously using 920 since WP8 launched with it, so I am familiar with those ways of making the battery last longer and know which app are battery eater. icon_rolleyes.gif

One thing to ask you guys to check out on your 1520. Did you notice that the SD card and SIM tray cover are loose when rub it with thumb? My bro with Black matte is loose on these tray but my red gloss fit nicely. Not sure if other colour got this issue.
Another thing is that the Back, Start, Search lights are kinda like a bit red tint in color. Last time my 920 these are white colour.

battery drain rather than button spoil later (look fragile). just ask , how many time you will press your button to wake up device a day?? more than 50times? well, that's the feature for to showoff. can other device do double tab to on screen??
*
Well... I saw from TV ads LG got show off their double tap to wake the screen. And also, this is not iPong with that well known button dead issue, so quality might not be the same. So far for whole year keep spamming that power button on my 920 got no issue. So I hope the button quality remain the same with 1520 smile.gif

i didn't change my current maxis plan, i just change the lumia1520 mobile network setting's "highest connection speed" to LTE and it work...

i can make call n use the data...will maxis extra charge me ar hmm.gif
*
I am setting highest connection speed at LTE, my Maxis got LTE enabled... same for my home area. No notice difference with H+. As long as the signal is good when you are using it, then it won't be draining battery. But our phone will normally select the strongest signal when is idle.
Even if set to LTE, Maxis wont charge you anything, because you cant even utilize it if you are not LTE enabled line. When connected to LTE, the top left signal bar will also show LTE. So far I able to get fastest speed with Maxis with full bar signal are around 45Mbps/s download.
p.s: You need 1GB and above for data plan to get LTE enabled.

hmm... just got the latest update from Microsoft. Now they fixed the touch screen response for this phone at least... Previously the touch response is totally sucks comparing with my 920. It always miscaptured scrolling as single touch which is very annoying

its a know issue since GDR3(preview). before that AMber doesn't have such issues.

you probably want to auto upload backup all your photos to skydrive.
*
Yea.. I read that earlier this morning. I can replicate the problem they stated. But for my case I didn't use any Reframing also having my photos lost. Tried shooting with 19MP DNG and 19MP JPG also having issue.
Previously with 920 on GDR3 Preview never got this issue. I think must be Lumia Black firmware issue.

currently, i'm an android user, looking to change platform to WP8,
currently on my phone i only have whatsapp, fb, line and waze. this is most apps i use everyday
and apps is not my main point for a phone.. i just need fluidity and smoothness
*
Waze for WP8 now is not fully optimized. Is like simply just release to WP8 users to keep them mouth shut. GPS reception is really bad with Waze and is draining battery way to fast for a GPS app.

I just set my Country/Region to US all the time and set Regional Format to Malaysia (English)
And for Browser & search language - English (US).
When I first use WP8 last time, I also keep changing the region to download apps. But then I realized that if I reset my phone and restore the applist from cloud backup, then it won't be able to auto download back some of the apps that are only available for certain region.

Don't know why 1520 is such bad at low light photography and video shakehead.gif Still photo low light will have a lot noise and sometimes red/green banding noise. Video is worst. 920 in the other hand is doing way better at low light for still photography and video as well. Not sure is it sensor quality or firmware issue, I tested 2 unit of 1520 side to side compare with 920 at home. I am seeing other forums got such complains as well now... This camera just disappointed me. doh.gif

I found out something wrong with the Nokia Camera when set to 5MP + 19MP DNG. By right it supposed to do oversampling for the 5MP size and then keep the 19MP DNG, but it is not doing oversampling on the 5MP. When the picture is zoomed in, most of the details are lost. If you compare the 5MP size created with DNG, you will notice the size is much smaller. But when set to 5MP + 19MP JPG, the 5MP is doing fine. File size also larger.
On the noise part... both are still the same though...

Nokia representative said this is due to the F2.4 doh.gif
If like that maybe in future if they were to reduce the noise, they might just soften the photo or video....

Thank you for writing Nokia Careline.

We would first like to thank you for choosing our Nokia Lumia 1520 as your preferred device. In response to your inquiry,  kindly be informed that DNG file always comes together with 5MP oversampled image with the Aspect ratio set to 4:3.

On the other hand upon checking and comparing Nokia Lumia 1520 Camera F-Stop/Aperture is f/2.4 to Nokia Lumia 920 Camera F-Stop/Aperture which is f/2, the differences may cause the said noise. However,  we will take note of this for further study. Nokia places a great deal of importance on all useful comments from our customers. Constructive feedback is highly valued as this serves as part of our basis in improving our products and services.

Kindly be informed that the latest Nokia imaging applications, Nokia Camera, Nokia Storyteller, and Nokia Refocus, are available in the Store. Please make sure to visit the Store and download the apps to enjoy imaging at its best on your Lumia 1520.

We hope for your kind understanding regarding this matter.

You may like to visit our website at www.nokia.com.my for more information and support for your Nokia device. If you have further inquiries, please write to us again or contact Nokia Careline at 1300 881600. We operate between the hours of 9.00am and 6.00pm, five days a week.

Kind regards,

Estila V.
Nokia Care Representative
