You do know this is a psychology game right?
Most Malaysians over here probably do not know what true value is.

Hi guys, student here who's thinking about my future and how I should probably start learning about investments while I'm young with time to spare for reading and research.

I attended a Financial Youth Intelligence at Taylor's lakeside over the weekends last week and apparently a "famous" silver trader by the name of Jonathan Quek gave a talk about how gold's price is always tied to silver's price and how the value of gold (hence silver) will rise since China and Russia are stockpiling on Gold, he then offered us silver coins in small quantities because he knew we were students and couldn't buy in bulk.

My question is:
1)Is it that simple? Any non-biased websites that I can read up on to check his claims?
2)Is Silver a good investment for students? I'm guessing that the speaker would have some amount of bias because he will gain a profit by selling the silver to us.

Would really appreciate some help here! thanks

First of all, if the speaker is selling to you at a higher relative cost, then obviously, he is just trying to make a profit

If the speaker is selling at low premium, then he is sincere. I mean obviously he should be making a profit but then he should also understand that silver is an investment and will not over charge the customer as for investment, you do not want to pay too much for "transactional" costs.

Definitely no.

Calculate for yourself la. Last time I do the calculation, the spread is 10%.

Buying the actual physical in Malaysia, the spread could be around 14-15% But then. if you sell it online, you could probably sell it at a 3-4% discount of the cost you originally bought.

I think most of the people buy from buysilvermalaysia.

I buy from Singapore becoz it's cheaper.

I see, because like for gold if we open an account in uob it isnt that bad since the spread is around rm2 difference. So wondering if we have similar with silver.

If thats the case then maybe i'll just buy couple of those 1kg silver bars smile.gif
