my solution?

its not easy to give a simple solution here. to design a site you need to consider many factors.

just think yourself as the visitor. would you know right away that it is what it actually is?

no problem =)

make sure you put enough thinking into your designs. that is the most important part of design.

hard to say, depends if it has functions. if your work is good, you can definitely get few thousand per project.

remember - prices are made by you and you only.
some companies could even charge 30k+ for one simple website, because their client doesnt know much about the market pricing.

joomla+flash+forum could go up to 2-3k also, for a freelancer. dont charge too low, hard to find job sometimes (if its your main job now..)

depends on how much you need to modify. if its just the banner, then people are not willing to pay much.

lol.. and for you to "promote" it tongue.gif

anyway, yea Gen-Y is open to a widespread of ideas. but i think they are only the "transition generation" where they do the hard work to promote internet usage. the next gen (gen-Z?) are the ones that are going to get the widespread ideas. they will be born with the internet fully ready for the world, or at least more so than us.

why oh why do they undercut sad.gif at least those stores wont be beating ebay and the likes smile.gif

I suggest you just use ebay. My main reason is ebay gets a tremendous amount of traffic. On the other hand, your site is not well known yet. Hence, you get more customers on ebay.

There are also trust issues, etc and costly fees to instill that trust, (few thousand ringgit if I remember currectly) to get an EV SSL certificate.

On ebay, it is free.

QUOTE(Nation of Sensation @ Mar 30 2010, 06:34 PM)
Honestly, I checked your site and your rates are way too low.

For professional clients, they wouldn't mind to pay a slightly higher price since it is your portfolio that matters to them, not your qualifications.

Myself as a graphics designer, I had never disclosed any information regarding my paper qualifications and I am still young as well, currently a uni student but my rate is quite high since most of my clients are overseas (US, UK etc). Whenever I quote a smaller price, they wouldn't mind paying me more if 'the quality meets their standard'.
*
Uhm.. I started quite young as well, now I am studying at a university. I can tell you, qualifications matter for a few reasons:
1) clients trust you better obviously
2) you need to know basic design principles, not only do it by instinct. I remember when I thought my designs were great in the past. Now I look at them and think they are bad tongue.gif

@Chery
I think your rates are fine for now. It really doesnt matter what your rates are as long as you have the passion to do well in your designing for now. When you get into the real world (although you may already be exposed now), maybe somewhere at my stage (I am studying+designing casually for one of my lecturers), you will find out more about how to use your rates to attract the right clients. I have even rejected a number of clients because I am too busy with study. In summary, "it shouldnt be about the money".

you have to ask your boss. if no agreement was signed on this, then it should be ok. but still, its better to ask your boss.

Just overcharge =) If they accept, then go hire someone else. If they decline, you didnt want to do it anyway!
