OK I almost bought the HTC One but I think I'll be going for the Nexus 5 instead for my upgrade from my current iPhone 4. It's more powerful and much cheaper, runs the latest stock Android, has a screen to match. It loses out to the One in looks (although from pictures its minimalistic design is not shabby at all), storage, and obviously sound quality. But if I can get my friend to bring it back from the UK at RM 1,300+ then it's an absolute bargain. Even if the price goes up to RM 1,600, I think I'll be choosing the NExus 5 still.

why would u get from UK when the LTE band doesn't work here...
despite the price difference, i rather get a local set...

1. I don't use LTE at the moment.

2. The uk unit has the same LTE band as Malaysia. From what I read anyway.

i think u better read again cause the LTE band 3/7 (which is ours) isnt deployed yet there so nt sure if they will include it

as you said .. im the lucky one...

maybe you guys are unlucky... no offence...

i do understand your feelings... it happened once before .. but not htc one la ..
as i said before no phones or product are perfect...  the purple tint is a small problem...dont forget the ultrapixel is a new technology...

if its a mature technology and it still cause problems.. that is another story ...

do give some time for the ultrapixel technology to mature up....

you are lucky that HTC made a statement that all defective camera modules can be replaced...

eventhough htc is at financial trouble... they still took responsibility replacing all defective phones..

when i first bought my htc one... the purple tint issue hasnt surfaced... i bought the phone before htc made the statement about the issue..

i only can comment what i have with me ... this is my opinion on the htc one ... i got a perfect phone ... so im enjoying the phone...

besides. phone camera wasnt designed to take super good pictures... if you want good quality photos.. suggest you buy a dslr...

with the my perfect htc one... all my friends were blown away by its night shot quality from my phone..

so the only thing i can say (my opinion) is that HTC is awesome.. premium build .. good camera good sound awesome UI
*
Well I bought the phone on day1 it was out over in Malaysia and saw how the whole issue blew up to date (6 months). I never pursue the issue believing in the whole software fix etc but it is getting frustrating to an unbearable point. I am not asking for DSLR level low-light photo but just a normal decent photo day or night instead of having purple tints all over (yes i have the tint in daylight as well). Do remember, it is marketed as a phone with a good low-light sensor.

I have been a HTC user and this is the first time I am so disappointed. What more I introduced it to 2 of my friends who actually bought it and now suffering the same problem with me now.

all i can say to you is your the unlucky one .. no offence ...

i understand how you feel ... paid RM 2k ++  for a premium phone...but look at the other side... people paid the same amount of money to get iphone or samsung s4... in which it is no where near as premium as the htc one...

paid 2k ++ for a plastic phone... how cheap is that ... (samsung galaxy s4)
*
well i am sure majority of the world is as unlucky as me then. just look at the xda forum.
premium but defective, i rather have a none premium phone or a Z1 or a G2 or a nexus5 for the same price sadly.

ps: the camera deteriorates in most user cases

Why you always think that we the victims are lucky enough because HTC willing to replace defective camera modules?

Again, we have to get the mindset corrected. It is HTC responsibilities to call back and replace all the defective parts. Not a luck matter. If you say " You are lucky because HTC still not bankrupt and can replace camera module for you ". Then this is acceptable.

We are very unlucky already. My HTC One didn't with me for 1 month already. So don't mention that we are lucky.

No offence.
*
even the replacement module doesn't mean it is fixed.
the problem resurface according to the xda forums and while others here having the purple spot.
this is a big blunder by htc which will surely affect the other partners.

I think it's major defect. As it's one of the main reason people choose HTC One instead of other phones. For me, I bought HTC One mainly because of the design and camera. So it's a pretty big deal. And I heard that Nexus 5 camera is comparable to HTC One in low light condition. I bet some of us will jump to Nexus 5 after reading this post.
*
of course but how do u think u can sell the H1 now with such a defect?

If it's regarding the camera issue, and you have sent it to SC and it's still have problem, you can win. If you haven't sent it to SC, it's kinda hard as you'll be lacking evidence and reasons to support you.
*
then pretty much a good case with this

keep us here updated on ur issue. looking at the complains on XDA jz hurts considering how much of a good product the H1 is without the camera issue...

are u in melbourne? cause my phone was working fine when i was there but it started to deteriorate with the hot weather in msia. XDA confirmed that the heat issue is what causing the camera sensor to fail badly with the purple tint which is why a copper wire is added to slow down the decay. those who got their lens fixed had the issue resurfaced after 2-3 months

guess what? the purple tint comes back out when the phone reaches 40degrees lolx... then 1-2 months (1 week for the guy i am quoting below) after lens replacement, the red purple tint problem returns again to quote
Xerro-Five http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...317507&page=338

"Well sadly like so many before me, the same problem is coming back on the new phone which had a perfectly functioning sensor when I first got it after just 1 week. Wow...I can't believe it happened that quickly. It's definitely not as bad as the first one was towards the end before I replaced it but it will, of course, continue to progress to that same level again on this one now that it's started. I've upgraded it to 4.3 and I again see the pitiful "fix" kick in - the noise builds up and then it resets the exposure (mostly ISO) lower, which of course destroys the ability to see much of anything in the resulting low light picture.

Just as before, the issue is created and worsened by heat.

Some examples:
Phone down on table, temp. 40, red noise is back
http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...1&d=1383634539

Right after the first picture, temp. 40, no light source, red noise
http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...1&d=1383634539

Let the phone cool down for a while. Phone down on table again, temp. 22, red noise gone
http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...1&d=1383634539

Taken right after that in the same spot as before, temp. 22, no noise
http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...1&d=1383634539

After 10min use, temp. 30, light far behind me, red noise is back again
http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...1&d=1383634539

I caught the above picture before the "fix" kicked in. BTW, that's how it SHOULD be performing (but without the red noise) in case there was any confusion, this is supposed to excel in low light...
Now here's the same picture but after the exposure is automatically (completely out of my control) reset
http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...1&d=1383634539

So this is crap. Oh, and yeah, that's right in case you caught it, there's a hot pixel on the sensor to add further insult."

that's the fear, basically the whole problem will persist and we'll need to keep changing the sensors over and over and over again
