the best way is to jog, yes weightlifting does work...but it has its side effects.

without a proper trainer or a proper guide, you can get tons of terrible injuries. even in simple excesises like push ups...if your back aint stright you will get hurt.

and if you dont reduce your body fat ratio, first.....you will have man boobs. then you will look like crap.

i have one friend who did just that, didnt go and burn some fat before hand. now he looks terrible without shirt...

Everything is dangerous and can potentially cause TONS of injuries. Sleeping is dangerous, walking is dangerous, having sex is dangerous, so is swimming, jogging, etc. Some are just a lil' more dangerous than others.

But i can say this for sure, weightlifting will OWN all other forms of physical exercise in old age. Badminton, jogging, running, high impact sports will take a toll on your body, causing problems like osteoarthrosis, etc.
Weightlifting in old age done in a controlled, safe manner can reverse loss of muscle mass. It has been proven.

weightlifting promotes the secretion of HGH and IGF1 too. not to mention it hardens your bone. especially true for older person.

just compare a sprinter with a marathon runner. one engages in anaerobic activity. the other engages in aerobic activity.

um, the guy is near 200lbs, if he's the average malaysian male height(iirc 170-180cm?) he's fat and probably already has manboobs. having been fat before(not that i'm slim now doh.gif )  man boobs comes with being fat. lifting weights arent going to worsen the situation.

he's just as likely to suffer knee/ankle injuries jogging(remember 91kg is alot to stress your knees and ankles with especially if you havent already been jogging often) as he is (insert injury here) while weight lifting.

imo listen darklight, he looks like terminator in his avatar and he says that was him when he was smaller.  rclxm9.gif

btw: no offense calling you fat nightstalker, just saying it as it is. i feel and know the pains of being overweight, i also know the joy of losing the extra weight so good luck with losing it.  thumbup.gif

mates, mates, i am not really aruging that weight lifting is bad, you need proper gudiance thats what i am saying. i know mates who over pumped, or pumped bilndly in desperation to get thin or fit. then judging by their result they didnt do quite well.

my mate ended up short he started in form 3, the result is that he wassnt that fat...but cause he didnt redude his fat ratio further it made him look bloated up. and he has muscle aches all over.

another i've seen was he did when he was thin, body came fit...but looking like a bloody deprived child. his fat ratio was too low.

on paper and with the proper guides its good, one of the best. but wrong posture and all can hurt....

I get your point, but who's advocating wrong posture? In short you should just advocate caution. Using your friend as a template is a matter of semantics. You know mates who're overpumped, etc, etc.
Poor caloric maintenance when requirements are much less after cessation of working out. Bodybuilding isn't jsut about training, proper posture, etc. It's 70 percent diet, 30 percent the rest.

it's most important that u monitor ur progress & find the best way to loss/control weight coz every body reacts differently to various diet or exercise regime.

permanent weight loss regime would only see results perhaps in 3 months time while temporary weight loss programme might give significant results in just 3 weeks, some even 3 days!!

a personal trainer will tell you temporary weight loss regime (e.g. loss 5lb in a week) is useless but the cold hard truth is over-weight people will give up if they dun see any result in 2-3weeks time. immediate weight loss might not be a permanent solution but it sure give you a strong boost to continue your quest to long term weight loss programme

whatever, you do don't starve ur self blindly & make sure the matter you pursue will not jeopardize your health condition.

well wrong postue comes in naturally, i never knew that push ups your back must be stright. i never knew squats that you cant bend your back till recently. if i went bilndly and over pumped with a posture that i didnt know, the results will be bad.

i agree with you on most of that, i am just trying to point out the dangers....through experiences with my mates.

Well, it's obvious you haven't read enough before you start working out.
Who can be blamed for that?
Preparation is important, the better you prepare, the better the results. Haven't you learnnt that?
