We are all the same.

There will be always someone out there saying "Wow, didn't know you 20 days per month 9 to 5 is only worth (your pay) per month. Work like a slave for (your pay) for 20 days per month to me is a big NO."

These people dont know how bad the economy is now. Tell them dam lucky got job that pays your bills.

That's great. You will work in which industry? Where u plan to stay?
*
I be working for the offshore and marine construction industry. In charge of cranes.

Will be working at Jurong, already got a place at Lakeside. Pretty nice Malaysian family ^^ considering the fact I only pay partial rent when i go offshore training for my first 3 months. Lucky i got the last room.

Dont mind if i could ask which industry are you working at? Have you find a place to stay yet?

I will be in consumer industry dealing with customer like Fair Price, Watson & Guardian. I yet to find my place to stay as my employer is providing 30 days free accommodation at hotel.

I see. If you are a girl is easy to get a place for rent. Many landlords dont like single young dirty beer belly boys with bad BO.

Actually the SG economy and job market is pretty good. You need to be in the right sector with the right skillset and now the right residency status.
Banking and finance is still booming in SG (except for Investment Banking and Trading in general)

It seems that way for engineering as well ^^. I guess there is alot of wealth in such small island.

but its rather reasurring to hear from you tat sgd3k is liveable in singapore... rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif guess i juz gotta control my spending... smile.gif

i tink i shud not take up the accomodation costing sgd1k...its taking up too huge percentage of my pay... rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif

1k for accomodation is abit alot if you are single. With 1k you can rent a whole unit by yourself which is not a good idea. Share a bit with people can get 200-300 per month. If you need personal space then 500-700 per month for a personal room is enoug. Look around for a place, there is plenty to hunt out there.

Dont get caught by aunty from hell. You dont want to lose your first month bond and rent to mean old ladies and man. Also skip the real estate people, not worth your time and hard earn money.

Just use the website i pm you. Then email them about the vacancy. Gather all possible landlords and google maps directions. Take a trip down and see the place and meet the landlord/tenants.

If you are a single guy, my advice is to get as many options as you can get (at least 10-15 renting options). Many landlords thinks single guys are sex maniac pig sty from jungle Malaysia land. They prefer to rent out to single ladies.

saw on easyroomate. not sure about the details. 1k to rent surely out of my budget because i dont even pay that much for rent, is silly.

I know a few relatives that want to rent out at the same price as well for the whole unit.

Yeah, medical pass. No AIDS.

Btw, what time is good to go to MOM to get my EP pass? Is morning less people there?

Kinda want to skip the crowd if possible. I got tired of waiting at Malaysia "efficient" passport office for 2 bloody days with more than 8 system breakdown.

Hi senior forumers,

I have a question im being offered a job in sg and now in the midst of applying for a E pass... i lost my degree graduation certificate the english version... But i still have the malay version... This is what information i read on MOM SG's website

"supporting documents which are not in English should be submitted together with an official English translation. Both documents must be scanned and uploaded as one file."

this is the link : http://www.mom.gov.sg/foreign-manpower/pas...es/default.aspx

Can it be applied to my degree graduation cert? I have called my university and the procedures are :

1) Lodge police report
2) Goes to university portal and pay RM100
3) Wait for max 1 month to get the cert

:'(....

I think Singapore easier and safer. Malaysia you reach the rented house to make police report, you lost your bond to robbers half way.
