My own adventure lining up in Apple Store Tokyo Ginza.

Was number 300+ around the time I got at the end of the line.

Apple staff rolling what I thought initially was breakfast. But it was a cart with boxes with card slip dictting what config of iPad Air you wanted. Plus free mineral water.

This was what I initially wanted. Later I asked for the WiFi model since getting the Cellular model requires signing up data contract with AU, NTT DoCoMo or Softbank.

Apple Store Ginza has 4 floors. Ground floor and 4th floors for purchase, activation and product setup. I had a nice chat with Matsushige who is fluent in English, while he sets up another guy's iPad Air speaking to him in Nippon. After that, I settled down to the 3rd floor where they have this lovely auditorium with velvet seats where you get free one-to-one and product tutoring on how to make full use of your new iPad Air. This is only Apple Store I've been with such facility like auditorium open to public.

My Space Grey iPad Air. I had to rush back to the hotel in Narita airport to fly my plane to Los Angeles.

Looks like I got into more drama after landed in Los Angeles. Gunman went amok and shot TSA and passangers at security checkpoint. Airport was in lockdown mode after we landed at 1pm LA time, and for 3 hours, we had to park at the taxiway waiting for bay to dock back in. At least didn't have to divert to Ontario International or Las Vegas. then after got to the terminal, full with security officers in kevlar, and commando getups. 5 helicopters flying overheard, feels like a Holywood movie, but in real life. Only managed to get to the hotel after 7pm.
When we landed we had no idea what the delay was, but I sneaked open my iPhone and was shocked at what had transpired. Airport was on lockdown since 9am. Very lucky we managed to get landing clearance.
http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-l...y#axzz2jTeB0kqyLAX was a scene of total chaos with passengers and crew standing around stranded, while Airport and Homeland Security assess security situation and closed the airport and roads leading to LAX, INCLUDING West Century Boulevard where our hotel was.

2 of the 5 news helicopters covering the LAX gun shooting hovering over the airport.

The stranded passangers and crew. Our picture not including.

Sedentary excitement in Tokyo, more Hollywood-style excitement in LA. Feels like in the movies.
