Hi guys... newbie here so dont tembak ar!!  blush.gif

I've been using my Sennheiser HD 457 for 2 years now... love em. Although it can get quite bassy at times. Recently, I decided to migrate from MD to MP3s. I still listen to MDs quite often, but since I purchased a W800 with 2Gb memory stick, it only made sense to migrate to MP3s. On the move, the SE earbuds work fine, but at work, I'm with my Sennheisers.

Now... I'll be travelling quite extensively soon... and am in the lookout for a more portable set. I've looked around and think the most suitable candidates would be the PX 100 or PX 200. PXC250s are wayy out of budget!!  cry.gif

Read some reviews - it seems the PX100s were better sounding than the 200s. But, they're open type, which can be a nuisance since sound goes out too. The most common gripe apparently for the PX200s were the lack of bass.

Any recommendations and suggestions from the gurus and sifus here would be much appreciated. Thanks!!!

yup. i oso read tat px100's better than px200. wanted to get px100 but no1s selling it. can onli get px200. so...join d audio technica bulk insted n m ordering d ES5. from d few reviews, iz supposed to b better than both d px100/200 wit great bass/impact.

Hey all,

Day 2:

Still cannot find the mids, sounds a bit shallow in this department. Maybe it's the deep bass and the precise high that overcame the mids. Oh yeah...deep bass...think SR60, 85% there (IMHO Gauge) in terms of depth... nice!

As usual, my standard bass track = Daniel Powter, Song 6. Very very deep and long bass throughout the song.

I'll update whether the mid have presented themselves, as soon I find them, or they find me smile.gif

dude try amping d cx300s. d mids will return to haunt ya. atleast it does for me. hav fun..!

senn px100 / px200
ones open ones closed. both fold out to a reg. headfon and flods back like a pair of sunglasses. oso comes in its own case. i hear the SQs decent too with px100 being superior. icon_rolleyes.gif

hey guyz im back on da Senn camp with my latest acquisition of a very mint but used HD555. got it primarily for gaming & late nite movies but its turning out to be very very decent for porty use too. my sansa fuze (noted for its weaker output relative to da clip) drives it loud & sounds very nice to boot. amped its even better with a more tangible bottom & improved forward mids. highs are very airy & detailed wit very little or zero sibilance.

wot stands out for me is its huge & deep soundstage - perhaps even better than my ex HD600 but tats based on memory soo dont quote me on it. regardless this HD555 has a great soundstage. amped its better than my ex grado sr225 overall. de sr225 (again only based on memory) wins out interms of mid bass slam but i do think da HD555 wins everywhere else esp da huge headstage.

after trying it out for hrs lasnite -some of it lying on da bed- i can report its oso supremely comfortable. infact this mite be de most comfy fullcans i've tried.

O & for those wit a need to know, a well driven HD6xx will blow this outta water ofcos but....& its a huge BUT....unamped offa ipod or wotever DAP or even a soundcard, this HD555 owns its big braders.
its certainly surprizin me fo'sur & is IMHO a better 'audiophile' headcan than any of de lower-mid Grados icon_rolleyes.gif

Added on March 14, 2009, 5:23 amhey brader PcWork is tat me ex MX500? if it is, its approx 10yrs old & is brought over from london. hows de older ones SQ compare wit its new brethens??

hey sep nice cups for ya HD6x0! but yaaa sep's korek though as stock & driven incorrectly -or shall i say- inadequately, its nothing to write bigg mama about. but recabled balanced & driven rite, it is a slice of headcase heaven. i

the qualities that been attributed to HD6x0s almos disappears as it morphs to something else....& completely beautiful - jus ma 2cents.

on another matter, any1 here is putting dips on being da 1st boleh owner of HD800s? come on le as its an opportunity of of a lifetime to be the 1st in bolehland....M'sia Boleh!

yup senheiiser is great when driven by balanced amp and it will show their true potential .....my b22 is driving them to full potential...
well the woodies gave me more tighter bass and improve the high and mids to another level... laugh.gif not jus for comestic effect they effect the sound imaging as well...

ooooo niceeeee! B22 driving a balanced HD650. this setup would def be one of me 1st best value must-listen-to rig before thinking of anyother stuff. its should be easy enuff at one of haedfi meets i will try to attend in the summer.

meanwhile im trying for a ALO mod Ultrasone HFI780J -the one with da 18awg Jenna cryo cable & wit certainly internal mods- as its said to be a "baby ED9" or 95% off da real thang la. besides @50ohms its gonna be easy to drive soo it'll be relatively portable. if i can get it, i'll make do till im ready -or rather till ma bank accounts ready which mayb never- for a serious homerig like yours (1st choice cos it da most easy on da wallet) or perhaps...gasp...a HD800 wit a zana deux or one of those niceee looking sound making plastic films thingamagigs called 'stats!

but yaaa even more importantly, im discovering its almost crucial to amplify cans correctly as it can be sheeeeat otherwise. some ppl mite say ya nuts for gettin an amp costing 2-4x da cans but in my books ya doin it rite! kudos to u for getting a B22 thumbup.gif

sheeeeaat baaa u've gats some nice headtoys (hmmm i like tis word) or u've gats some rich brat frens. either way...coolios thumbup.gif

yaaa i wish i can spread da dough for a balance 4channel -or isit 4board?- B22 but ahhh gats other priorities at de moment. u know la things like....rent, car payments, fon & misc bills, food, sex drugs & rock&roll - not neccessarily in tat order mindya tongue.gif ).

i have no doubt the Ed9s are better than de ALO HFI780Js but they're oso us$1k+ while i can get this for about 2/3s less. this way i can afford a cmoy to accompany da ahmoi when i listen to de sounds of moaning.... hmm.gif

& yaaa im sure an O2 will sound deliciouso amp wit a blue hawaii. i did have a chance to briefly audition the closed top end omega stat -fergat de exact model- but i wasnt terribly impressed. it was airy & detail with decent bass impact but certainly not wow'd. it wasnt driven by a KGSS or blue hawaii though.
