thanks both of you. I'll test more options before I make a decision. kinda hard to test headphone, most headphone performs best after 100-200 burn in.  especially audiophile grade.

i found that hd650 quite suit my taste. controlled yet deep bass, excellent mid, especially voice reproduction. that's make my dido, eva cassidy and katie melua collections a treat to listen all over again.

high freq instrumental sound is good, but not quite as enjoyable as triple fi's. 

I'm eyeing AKG701 at the moment. maybe make another purchase and return it if hd650 is better. Never tried closed headphone before, so might test denon D2000 as well.

last time went to NY mini gathering. I'm quite don't know what to listen to. so just wondering around listening to machines that I don't even know their names. can't wait for another meeting thou. this time i'll be more prepared

the 580 is my friend's and my hd650 with maple cut wood
using both high end amps to try it....

nick i will honestly tell u my hd650 i could hear all sort of things rubbish in rubbish out dammm 
it is very analytical and the bass omg  so deep that i got suprised by it even deeper than denons and grados
the 650 performance is like ed9 but with the deep bass response like beyers dt990 omg superb thick soundstage with smooth mids and crisp high
it is neither forward or laidback but rather very neutral and fast like ed9 itself...superb and able to handle any fast and attack with authority and power....
now for the last mod......

well sen r dark and laidback b4 modding and b4 recabling if u dunno 
this 1 is fast,aggressive and with power and authority i think darth the word doesnt suit its btw 
i will name it sened=sen+ed9
same characteristic as ed9 after modding
