What can you get between RM54,888 and RM59,888?

Apparently quite a lot, such as:
- 6 airbags (dual front, side, curtain)
- ESP
- 4 disc brakes
- ISOFIX anchor points for child seats
- 4-sensor rear parking assist
- auto headlamps
- projector headlamps with manual levelling
- LED daytime running lights
- electric folding side mirrors
- audio with AUX/USB and 4 speakers

and the above is standard across both A/T & M/T variant.
while the A/T variant adds on 15-inch alloys (14" on M/T), chrome door handles, front fog lamps, Supervision cluster meter, two extra speakers (total six), steering controls and Bluetooth for the stereo, leather wrapped steering and keyless entry with push start button. Other smaller additions on the A/T include a sunglasses box, illumination for the cup holders and a large driver’s vanity mirror with LED illumination....

What are you waiting for?

p/s: Dimension comparison between Viva - Picanto - Myvi now included. The Myvi is not much bigger really....have a look

The picanto and i10 is among the shortlisted candidates before I settle down on the current Flx...

Back then the picanto just launched at Korea, and I instantly fall in love with it... But there is no news of it reaching our shores on 2011/2012... So it got axed out from my list...

Haha, Typical of manufacturers who will quote using best case scenario. Just like the Rio it was quoted abt 6L/100km (or 16.6km/L) but i think the reality in Malaysia is anything between 7L/100km (14km/L) to 9L/100km (11km/L) since we have to go thru traffic during peak hours, but if you have to drive to Cyberjaya or PD to work, I guess the manufacturer's claim is achieveable.

I think the 2nd one, from Indonesia with 10.4 l/100km is driving in similar situation as KL driving would, i.e. jams most of the time.

I think so. Jakarta is more jammed than KL. And we can travel faster on our highways too (due to traffic). But if your driving is 90% city, then I believe you'd get close to what those in Indonesia are getting.

Higher RON has minimal effect on stop-go driving in jammed roads.

This is the same model isn't it?
http://www.ancap.com.au/crashtestrecord?Id=497

Very good. 5 star ANCAP. Malaysia's Picanto has 6 airbags and VSM (ESC). Should also be 5 star is it is the same model.

Myvi and Picanto not in the same class, not fair to be compared that way
but Picanto does have many things that Myvi does not have!

Went to showroom few days before.

Its not cramp at all. Spacious front & back.

It can fit 4 adults good enough.

And even if you want to compare Picanto with MyVi INTERIOR length/width/height:

MyVi: 1850/1350/1265
Picanto: 1729/1335/1247
Viva: 1845/1300/1250

Picanto is much bigger than Viva of course & there's not much difference when compared to MyVi (according to the interior size).

Yes, since you appeared undecided if its a Rio or Picanto. I unable to decide for you, you have to follow your heart. Pay 63k (est) and get the car to enjoy or
Pay 74-80k and wait till dont know when and became frustrated (esp if you need the car urgently).

Promos and discounts will be NOW, as early bird buying the car. If its hot cake, you will see lesser promos/discounts along the way, then the last time you see promos/discounts will be when facelift is coming so the need to clear stocks

It is a 2-bulbs proejction type head lamps. The low and high beams are integrated onto ONE single projection lamp, of which the direction of the beam is controlled by a rotatable lens shield that is triggered by solenoid. Halogen light only, no xenon or HID.

You are right. This is a car which emphasize a lot on safety. Yes, it is a little more pricier that the ordinary P2 cars of the same segment but way lot safer.... money well spent I would say.

I'm sure there will be lots of aftermarket head units that would give a lot of cool features. But what I like about the Picanto is the safety features. 6 Airbags and ESC. Heck even the new Accord does not have them.

I just wish Kia had used 6-speed auto. Oh well, it is a step in the right direction. Hopefully more new cars would have as good a safety feature as Picanto.

Well, for city drive car like picanto, 4at is enough already, 6-speed is just a waste on it smile.gif

At this moment, it is Semi KD. Majority parts & assembly, welding and paint done in Korea. Only minimum assembly involving the doors, head lamps etc done locally. Thanks

Golden Steering Wheel for Peter Schreyer

Bavarian-born Schreyer has been Chief Design Officer at Kia Motors since 2006 and was appointed President of all Hyundai-Kia Design Centres at the beginning of 2013. With overall design responsibility for the world’s fifth largest car manufacturer, Schreyer is only the second designer in the 31-year history of the Golden Steering Wheel to receive the award. Giorgetto Giugiaro received it in 1995.

Peter Schreyer trained at the Munich University of Applied Sciences and the London Royal College of Art, which presented him with an honorary doctorate in 2007. Prior to joining Kia, Schreyer was responsible for the design of pioneering models such as the Audi TT, Volkswagen’s new Beetle and the Volkswagen Passat.

At Kia, Schreyer has developed a design philosophy that stands for simplicity and clarity, which has made a considerable contribution to the success of the brand – in the past five years, Kia has doubled its global sales and in 2012 sold more than 2.7 million cars

went to the show room to check out this model, im impress with the spacious cabin to be frank and the spec provided.

too bad there is no test drive model available.

definitely will put into consideration when i want to change my car next year.

say, how is the performance for this car from existing owner review? was it sufficient enough if to carry 4 adults for a long distance travel like kl to jb on speed of 110-140kmh??

Do you know?

Kia Picanto is equipped with ESC Electronic Stability Control that many cars do not have.

Conventional ABS technology secures braking stability, and traction control systems (TRC) secure stable acceleration, but neither prevents skidding. ESC is a electronic stability control system that improves active safety performance when the vehicle skids.

Electronic Stability Control (ESC) helps drivers to avoid crashes by reducing the danger of skidding, or losing control as a result of over-steering. ESC becomes active when a driver loses control of their car. It uses computer controlled technology to apply individual brakes and help bring the car safely back on track, without the danger of fish-tailing.

The ESC cannot be switch off but it will be active when it senses that the driver is losing control of the vehicle. Same as ABS & EBD it never switch off but it doesn't mean it is active. They will only be activated when require. The ECU or Electronic Control Unit which is connected to all the sensors is the one that is responsible to activate them.

That is TCS or traction control system.

Here are some explanation which you may find on the net.

Traction-control systems utilize the same wheel-speed sensors employed by the antilock braking system. These sensors measure differences in rotational speed to determine if the wheels that are receiving power have lost traction. When the traction-control system determines that one wheel is spinning more quickly than the others, it automatically "pumps" the brake to that wheel to reduce its speed and lessen wheel slip. In most cases, individual wheel braking is enough to control wheel slip. However, some traction-control systems also reduce engine power to the slipping wheels. On a few of these vehicles, drivers may sense pulsations of the gas pedal when the system is reducing engine power much like a brake pedal pulsates when the antilock braking system is working.

It's no surprise that they manage to get 5L/100 Km which is equivalent to 20 km per Liter, but this is probably on a optimum cruising speed at the highway.

I often hear grouses from prospective PICANTO buyers who wish to TEST DRIVE but unable to find an outlet that provides one. Well, you are most welcome to KIA Serdang Raya, now that there are 2 registered units so that you can do a proper test drive and at reasonable distances under various road conditions. Here are pictures of the TEST DRIVE units.

For Picanto, there is now a 2 year free service (or 40,000 Km ) offer + other offers.
Service interval is every 10,000 km or 6 months interval. Will post the table for the maintenance cost and schedule once available.

Cheers!

Picanto servicing /maintenance cost is as per attachment.
The servicing interval is every 10,000 km or 6 months.
On Average, the cost is about RM1K per year or every 20,000 Km.

At this moment, there is no local body kit available for Picanto yet. However, I have seen a diffuser/rear garnish and front bumper guard posted by someone before, but it is likely to be available in overseas market. Shall update, once I get more info. Cheers

Not a lot sold because KIA is targetting customers who appreciate safety and features and willing to pay more for A segment vehicle.

Unfortunately, in the A segment, as we know, most buyers go for the lower price due to easy affordability. That's why the A segment is dominated by national cars.

Just got my Kia Picanto last week.

Here are some of my thoughts...

The good
- Suspension
- Steering/ cornering
- Pack load of features

The bad
- Very sensitive breaks
- Very underpowered in Eco mode (turn off Eco mode gives more omph! burns more fuel of coz)
- Back passanger seat is a lil small, cant fit 3 people behind.

Test drive this picanto, found out the gear change not very smooth during low gear. I floor the pedal, gear change jerky.
Anyone encountered this or is the test drive car problem ?

Just a friendly reminder to those seeking to get their cars before the Raya festive holidays, please place your booking by this week as we are only about 2.5 weeks away and there is not much time left. At present moment, HP submission /registration cases have increased significantly at all banks and JPJ and processing/turn around time is much slower compared to other normal times due to the higher volume. Hence, do make your purchase early or risk not having your brand new car for the long festive holidays ahead. Avoid last minute hastle due to congestion at banks/JPJ, if possible. Cheers!

Interest rates for car loans may increase as early as next week as BNM raises overnight policy rate by 25 basis points to 3.25%, the first time since May 2011. Those who intend to purchase cars but are still holding back, now it's the time to act before the interest hike. Bring along your documents and submit for application by this week urgently to lock in the current low interest rate. Good luck!

LATEST NEWS

Bank Negara has raised the benchmark overnight policy rate by 0.25% to 3.25%, the first rate hike since June 2011

For those who are interested to get a new car. Better to secure the loan now before the interest rate hike take effect. Do not wait any longer.

It's now official, KIA MALAYSIA has just announced that they have discontinued LEMON GRASS color from the standard choices of color. Hence, those who are keen in this color, suggest that you grap them before they run out of stock forever.

The other standard colors : Signal Red, Clear White, Bright Silver and Alice Blue remain. No replacement for Lemon Grass has been announced yet. Hopefully something exciting will come along the way.

There has been a recent re-oganisation of authorised service center by Naza Kia whereby some non-performing SC dealers have been terminated not too long ago. If you are unsure about the status of the SC, please do check with Naza customer service at 03-26177666. It is important to only service your car at an authorised SC so as not to void your 5 year warranty.

Yes, same spec, unchanged. Yes, like any other A segment models in the market, PIcanto (manual trasmission) needs to compete primarily with Axia, and in some way with Iris MT as well.

There is discount for the AT as well but that as much as the MT.

There is a now a FANTASTIC deal awaiting Picanto buyers for Manual Transmission. Check it out. You'd be pleasantly surprise!

Hi,

Am shopping for a car for my wife. Currently the short list is Picanto, Myvi 1.3, and Mitsubishi Mirage. Picanto is on top now due to electronic stabilization and 6 airbags. Not forgetting the 5 year waranty

I do have some questions:

1) Any comment on the wind noise/engine noise while driving?
2) Do Kia SC sells bodykit and also ICE upgrades? Am interested in reverse camera.
3) Is the 2 year free service still on? Am interested in red colour car. AT.
4) Noticed Mirage has a flywheel problem when starting the car. Is Picanto suffering from the same?
5) Can I disable the passenger side airbag? At times I need to put a baby seat there.

Thanks.

Some answers to youy questions:
2) Currently, there is no local body kit for Picanto. It is possible to upgrade the audio and display to one with DVD player & built-in GPS with reverse camera.
3) The 2 year free service package previously has been replaced with additional discount.
5) It is not possible to disable the passenger airbag in our local Picanto version, unfortunately.

Kia cars ranked Top 3 in 2015 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study!

We are thrilled to announce that Kia Motors ranked second among 33 automotive brands in J.D. Power’s 2015 Initial Quality Study (IQS). Only Porsche, a premium brand, outranked Kia, meaning that Kia is now ranked #1 among mass market brands.

Now in its 29th year, the annual J.D. Power IQS measures the quality of vehicles based on the number of problems reported by vehicle owners within the first 90 days. This is by far the finest performance Kia has achieved in this study to date. Honored were the Kia Soul and Sorento, which received the highest scores in the compact multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) and midsize SUV segments, while the Rio, Optima, Cadenza, Sportage and Sedona (Grand Carnival) ranked among the top three in their respective categories.

“We believe the J.D. Power report leaves no doubt that Kia builds world-class vehicles, and the results are especially gratifying as the IQS study truly reflects the voice of our customers,” said Michael Sprague, Chief Operating Officer and EVP, Kia Motors America. “Kia’s rise is one of the industry’s greatest success stories and is driven by the hard work of thousands of team members around the world, as well as our long-term strategy to concentrate on quality, strengthen the brand and elevate the ownership experience.”

See the chart below for the full J.D. Power 2015 IQS rankings.

Findings from the J.D. Power Asia Pacific 2015 Malaysia Customer Service Index (CSI) Study show a trend – Malaysian vehicles owners are expecting more out of their dealer service experience, but authorised service centres are struggling to keep pace with their rising demands.

The study, now in its 13th year, measures overall service satisfaction among owners who took their vehicle to an authorised service centre for service maintenance and/or repair work during the first 12 to 24 months of ownership. Service satisfaction is rated for mass market brands, so the likes of BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Lexus are not included.
The study evaluates new-vehicle owner satisfaction with the service experience by examining dealership performance in five factors (in order of importance): service quality (32%); service initiation (22%); vehicle pick-up (18%); service advisor (15%); and service facility (13%).

Satisfaction among mass market brands averages 749 index points (on a 1,000-point scale) in 2015, which is a five-point decline from 2014. Customers are expecting to receive a higher level of service, overall satisfaction averaging 815 among the 12% of customers who indicate they had a “better-than-expected” service experience, compared with 842 in 2014.

The greatest drop in satisfaction is in service facility, where satisfaction has declined to 773 in 2015 from 785 in 2014. Ease of approach to and convenience of service centres contribute to the decline in satisfaction in the service facility factor. Among the 3% of customers who indicate having a “worse-than-expected” service experience, overall satisfaction is 558, down from 590 in 2014.

“Clearly, customer expectations are on the rise; hence, it is critical for service centres to provide a positive experience throughout, from service initiation, which is gaining importance, to delivering the vehicle back to customers, while remaining focused on delivering service quality,” said Rajaswaran Tharmalingam, Malaysia country head at J.D. Power Asia Pacific.

The study also demonstrates the importance of satisfying customers to improve loyalty and repeat visits. Among mass market brand owners who are highly satisfied with their service experience (815 points up), 42% say they “definitely would” revisit their dealer for post-warranty service, compared with 12% of those who are highly disappointed (698 or lower).

“Service centres must strive to always enhance their service standards, specifically in offering the value-added standards to their customers. This is precisely what delights customers with their service experience,” Rajaswaran added.

Now, how did each brand do? Top of the league is Mazda at 774 points, just one point ahead of Mitsubishi at 773. J.D. Power says that Mazda performs particularly well in the service initiation and service quality factors. Honda completes the podium with 760 points, ahead of fellow Japanese big boys Nissan (758) and Toyota (756). As for national brands, Perodua is above the 749-point mass market average at 753, while Proton is far behind with 726.
The 2015 Malaysia CSI Study is based on responses from 2,812 new owners who purchased their mass market brand vehicle between February 2013 and May 2014 and took their vehicle for service to an authorised service centre between August 2014 and May 2015. The study was fielded between February and May 2015. Agree with what you see?

Some customers feedback from other social media are as follows:

" Latest fuel economy is 5.4l/100km and usually cruise 130-140kph. " Manual User

" During school holidays I can get around 5.6 l/100 km (17.8 km/l) for Puchong-Damansara. But with school's back now the best I can get is 6.9 l/100 km (14km/l) " Auto User

1. After sales service - how easy to claim warranty?
2. Maintenence cost?
Please refer to the attached file

3. How is the fuel consumption?
Some user feedback as follows
" The best fuel consumption so far I can get is 15.6km/liter."
" if we combine a 50% city traffic (start stop) it actually averages to about 7 litters/100km (14.3++km/l). But I am not very light footed person thou. "
" for me..my picanto fc was acceptable..80% town use rm30=200km=14.33km/l...(AUTO User)"
" Managed to get 530km full tank (Shell Ron 95), 3.8L/100km. which means 26.3km per litre!! as you can see both pics, I achieve that 3.8L after cruising few km on speed 80-90 kmph "

4. Ownership experience?

If that's the case, will it mean searching for spare parts that is meant for manual transmission will be an issue?

There are many specs for various international market. To keep the costing low, I don't forsee that we will get the turbo version.
We may get a facelift version by mid of next year.

There are also many facelifted versions of the Picanto. During the recent Kia dealers meeting, the facelifted version that was shared was of the attachment below:.

Just to share the anticipated increase in KIA prices for various models effective 1st Jan 2016. Price increase is quite consistent with that announced by other auto makers as well, no thanks to our depreciation of our national currency.

hi, does anyone owns 2008 Picanto?

My mom's is having gear slippage. Its an auto 4 speed. Going from 2nd to 4rd would have some sort of slippage, 3rd to 3.5 more slippage and 3.5 to 4th some more slippage.

Does anyone know any reputable gearbox shop?

thanks.

Facelifted Kia Picanto has arrived at our Malaysian market but is very limited in stock. Front bumper has changed quite significantly, as in the rear bumper diffuser. For interior, the supervision cluster meter has also changed in design and looks more elegant than previous version. What do you think, folks?

Hi owners, would like to ask, does picanto has any spare wheel? As I came across some sites, certain countries, picanto doesn't has a spare wheel.

Very limited stock for Facelifted Picanto came to Malaysia, as such Kia Malaysia did not go big with any media announcement or advertisement. Even in peninsular Malaysia, there is already no more stock. Will probably need to wait for next year.

i10 is too old, there is no new model for it sad.gif iriz? prefer non-national car.. i drived iriz before, but i think not too good for senior citizen usage, cos the transmission really diff, might pose some danger to my mum who gonna drive the car.. prefer car with normal gearbox.

went to vietnam i saw so many new i10 on the road, but dunno y malaysia is so slow.. and there is no much choices for a or b seg small car..

The Picanto is in KIA line-up , however the new model has not been launched and actual pricing is still not confirmed yet. However, it is OK to take booking now, if customers want fast delivery and ahead in the queue, but the final price will be subjected to their agreement upon the revealing of the specs and price after the launch.

National cars will always have price advantage due to our NAP protectionist policy. Picanto can't never compete head-on with Myvi or Axia in that respect, but it will provide an alternative to the market to those who wish to get a quality product with its unique & much sleeker design.

this is not very relevant now. A civic selling in labuan compare to sabah is only 10% difference(exclude GST) in pricing due to excise duty which everyone is whining about this NAP bla bla policy. So a kia picanto should be more competitive in pricing rather than NAZA Being and arse to pull up the price more than 10%.

Additionally, luggage capacity and space efficiency has been further improved upon thanks to its foldable 60:40-split second row seats providing 1,010 litres of cargo space.

For entertainment, there will be a ‘floating’ 7.0-inch touchscreen at the centre of the dashboard.

This will allow for seamless smartphone connectivity for music, calls, messages and directions.

It will also include navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and voice recognition.

To further bolster safety, the Picanto will include six-airbags as before and may add torque vectoring brake based system, straight line stability, forward collision warning system and autonomous emergency braking.

I don't mind the size actually since I usually drive alone

But what I'm curious in comparison with the myvi is

i) fuel consumption
ii) power/pick up speed
iii) reliability

A bit sad they didn't bring in the 1.0 Turbo engine. If they can price the current spec at 49k then I'm pretty sure the turbo engine wouldn't bump the price too much. I would consider this over the myvi definitely if it come with turbo engine at <55k

the 1.2 engine has been there for a long time. Picanto FC no ppl complain before, so should be good enuf. i dont think if turbo engine can be less than 55k, u see ford fiesta 1.0 ecoboost and normal version, difference is at least 10-20k..

but that's sime darby tho, known for stupid pricing decisions. I'm pretty sure naza kia can be more rational when it comes to pricing

anyway I'll decide between this and myvi 1.5av for my first car this year, getting it around mid - end of year. So will wait for user feedbacks and reviews

Ya I rather pay slightly more for the digital aircond

And I see picture, the door panel is just pure plastic? No cloth material or anything on the arm rest?

Lastly why did they remove the centre armrest...? Cost a lot meh to include that doh.gif

exactly, how much does it costs to add the arm rest since the current spec costs only 50k...

hopefully someone would be able to bring in the parts soon

another point off from the picanto for this. But I still prefer the centre console compared to myvi. Myvi doesn't even have centre cupholders.

Picanto would've scored full marks if its the auto aircond

Yes, there are solutions and customizations according to your needs. I was made to understand that Naza Kia is packaging those gear-up items : leather seats, body kit, front camera recorder as after-market add-on optional accessories. Will update once this plan becomes clearer in the weeks to come.

they should understand the market well. There's definitely people who would use this car for long distance trip, and I reckon the comfort will be better than Axia

but anyway will arrange a test drive soon, so far I like everything about this car except the arm rest issue and lack of auto aircond.

if I were to nitpick I would say the lack of turbo engine as well, but the 1.2 engine should be sufficient, and it's proven

For a small A-segment car, the engine cc of 1248 coupled with 4-speed gear box is quite sufficient. The ALL New Kia Picanto JS comes with a host of extra features not found in previous model like

* 7 inch touch screen floating multimedia infotainment system with Apple car play & Android Auto
* Reverse camera with dynamic guide lines
* Steering Wheel with audio, bluetooth, trip meter and VOICE RECOGNITION
* Hill Start Assist (HAC) and of course ESC
* AHSS - Advance High Steel Strenght (more than 44% compared to previous model) for enhanced cabin protection
* Premium Steering Leather Wrapped
* LED Tail lamp
* Projector Type Head Lamp.

Yes, I know about the features, no argument on that. But my wife spends about just 20-30 mins in her car each working day, she does 10-12kms tops! Just 26k km so far. I tell her 1.2 engine too much, she should aim for P2 Axia with 1.0 engine that is more economical for her needs, haha...

I don’t fall for this line of reasoning these days la because people make sweeping generalizations, without any numbers to back up. i10 also can be considered shit car... no airbags even! If you think Picanto has high-cost parts, enjoy the delusion. Features, yes, but I paid over 100k for my Cerato and it has a couple of pointless features. Bro, u can try and sit in an axia, and u can compile axia accident. Heck even u look at alza or myvi accident, all becos no HPF steel. Even perodua salesman tell me axia and bezza is not strong especially ramming from the side, it is a low cost solution.

i10 is not a shit car, it is much better feeling compared to axia bro. The new i10 i sat in vietnam uber car, damn, that's really solid car. doesnt feel like u are sitting in a axia. feels more like a vios in terms of comfort.

belum cuba belum tau, u can try urself, but u cant try urself by crashing right? Better be safe than sorry. Axia highest spec aint cheap too.

Test drove new picanto just now at kia Glenmerie, then walk over next door to Perodua and tested new myvi as well

Overall kia feels better in quality and comfort, infotainment system also miles better. But steering wheel feels a bit too light to me, and a bit shame no auto aircond (expected for this class I know)

Myvi surprised me as a perodua, plenty of features and gadgets for the money, and they certainly improved the quality. But certain details will still tell you it's a local car - low quality plastics, the ride is a bit harsh, and engine rev intrude too much into cabin.

In the end.... Can't make up my mind. will test drive a second time with friend or family

Looking for my first car after working and this Picanto came just in time to widen my already limited choice 😂
Haven’t seen the interior of the car but the only concern would be the leg room...anybody know how it’s like compared to the axia? I’ve sat in an Axia and I have no issue with backseat legroom (maybe driver pull front seat all the way to the front that’s why it felt like there’s plenty of legroom) but from the photos the Picanto have little legroom space..(from Kon’s walkaraound, he mentioned that the seat is longer for better thigh support)

Picanto is having lesser rear leg room than Axia, and also feel a bit cramped compared to Axia, by quite a margin.

But the car feels more solid than Axia, and is having much more safety features.

Still waiting for test drive, maybe will go this weekend. Driven a rented i10 before, it's very stable at highway legal speed limit, much better than Axia.

So if you only drive with yourself most of the time, Picanto might be a better choice from the driver point of view, and safer too (theoretically). But if you need to carry 3-4 people most of the time (like your parents, siblings, etc.), then maybe the new Myvi is a better choice. Axia is good too, as the interior space is almost the same as the previous Myvi. Another option is the Bezza, if you need the boot space for long distance trips (luggage).

like mentioned above, if you drive alone most of the time and don't fetch more than 3 person frequently, picanto is fine. The refinement and quality is just better than myvi.

But if you're a family man or you fetch more than 3 people frequently then myvi is the better choice

Do check out the ALL New Kia Picanto at the Kia Showroom before deciding. Sit inside the car to have a feel of the legroom and space. If you are in Klang Valley, you are most welcome for a test drive, do PM me for details.

Had a closer look at the Picanto yesterday, certainly classier than Axia. Features, too. You might want to check out the legroom yourself... it looks a bit cramped to me, but my wife has a Hyundai i10 which is about the same size and she has no complaints about back seat space when she drives her friends around...

Probably wants your order straight... if he lets you wait a few months, you may change your mind. And GT won't cost that much more... has autonomous breaking, I think...

If go strictly by paper, CBU comes with approved permit (AP). Current batch of cars do not come with AP. Unless something else behind the scene, I do not know and can't comment.

I thought most kia new model initial batches are cbu, but then naza did something with the documentations so they could avoid ap and sell it at ckd prices? This saying had been floating around since forte days. So the new picanto is actually ckd or skd?

As long it's not completely ckd like Honda then I'm fine. Parts vendor for ckd in Malaysia is hopeless, after few months you see all the ckd Honda owners complaining

QUOTE(atah @ Jan 18 2018, 10:08 AM)

QUOTE(ZeneticX @ Jan 18 2018, 11:56 AM)
like mentioned above, if you drive alone most of the time and don't fetch more than 3 person frequently, picanto is fine. The refinement and quality is just better than myvi.

But if you're a family man or you fetch more than 3 people frequently then myvi is the better choice

Had a closer look at the Picanto yesterday, certainly classier than Axia. Features, too. You might want to check out the legroom yourself... it looks a bit cramped to me, but my wife has a Hyundai i10 which is about the same size and she has no complaints about back seat space when she drives her friends around...
*
Most of the time it’ll be just me driving to work..once a while I’ll fetch at most 3 person...I use my family’s Myvi to run errands most of the time...I have tested axia and bezza.. but have not fully decide until I test the new Myvi and the Picanto...thanks for the feedback smile.gif

Guys, anyone can share more on the Picanto's maintenance cost in short/long run? Plan to drive this car for quite a long time. Comparing with Axia I like Picanto more.

Can summarize the yearly cost for you as follows. Except for Year 1, where there are 3 times servicing, other subsequent years are based on 2 times servicing or (10,000 km X 2)

Year 1 : RM 533
Year 2 : RM 866
Year 3 : RM 882
Year 4: RM 775
Year 5 : RM 899

The maintenance cost is quite low actually.

Is the 5 years warranty a full manufacturer warranty?

Or is it 3+2 / 2+3 kind of thing?

Or 5 years only for certain parts like engine and gearbox only?

5 years warranty unlimited mileage from the manufacturer. NOT 3+2 extended warranty by insurance company.
There are some exceptions to the warranty of course

For example
1) Battery 1 year or 20,000 km
2) Alignment - first 1000 km
3) Drive train & suspension - 3 years or 50,000 km
4) Paint - 2 years
5) Audio System - 2 years or 40,000 km
6) Service parts & A/C gas - 6 months only.

Wear and tear parts not included in the warranty.

Thanks for the info.

It's pretty clear except for the item 3 - drive train. may I know it's referring to which part?

Gear box is under 5 years warranty.
Drive train refers to the drive shaft and all those parts underneath the car. Along with the suspension, warranty is only 3 years or 50,000 km.

At 49888 OTR without insurance, our principal Kia Malaysia is banking to get volume sales. At this price, there is very little margin for any other festive promo. They could have launched it at 57888 and give 8000 discount to entice buyers, but they decided to be bold and just give the lowest price possible to take on the prices offered by the national makes for A segment cars. Nonetheless will PM you separately on some other details that you might find interesting. Thanks
