Naza, the Malaysian distributor of Kia, confirmed in the news that it is letting go of Kia. Let's wait and see if the brand continues its presence here, and who will take up the distributorship. I saw recent test drives and reviews of Kias in Korea, and they're really good cars. The new K5 looks great!
Now that explains a lot of bad experiences i'm having. I have a 2 years old Picanto Ex. 1st year was OK, car and SC all OK.
Then on my 18mth service, the Glenmarie SC that has been good and nearby my house said that they no longer have the engine oil applicable for the free service package that came with my car promotion. I'm entitled to 2 years free service+parts as a sales promotion. They also can't give me other oil brand that they have, and they also not allowed me to top up $$ for other oil, or bring my own oil. A bit strange at that time when I don't know why yet. They reco me to Puchong branch saying that they still have the oil stock for the free service package. So I got my 18th mth service done at Puchong. A bit far.. but OK.
Then recently on my 24mth service (which is my last free service, and the MOST expensive service with brake, AT all in), again Glenmarie told me no oil stock. Weird why after 6 months still no stock??? I went to Puchong again and this is "where you just need 1 incident to lose a customer forever", but this time in order for Puchong to honor the free service, they forced me to opt in unnecessary items -
1. Sanitizer RM127
2. Petrol and engine flush RM125
3. Aircond service RM137
I'm opted out the optional item but they insisted I need to get it and is recommended. I then questioned what is the basis of recommendation of those items - despite a 24mth/40K service yes.. but my car only clocked 12k after 2yr due to extreme low usage as a backup car. Is there a need to flush and aircond service... and what is that sanitizer about.. kill covid? Only after further questioning then only they start to be truthful.. that because NAZA is NOT compensating SC agent on free service that they provided and all payment is overdue and in debt. So most SC now just stop honoring free service (which now i finally know why Glenmarie say no oil). Puchong is the last SC in Selangor that still give free service - but they need to recuperate via expensive optional items.
Long story short - I ended up didn't do the service. I called Kia Customer Support, escalated the issue (well this is a story on its own for another day on my experience dealing with customer support and escalation). I didn't give high hope and I'm not sure even if i win the case, that i still want to return to the SC to get it service with all these bad taste in everyone mouth... i'm not sure whether the service will still be professional.. or worst... sabotage? I decided to just forgo my free 24th service and get it done outside.. and yes.. also forgo my kia warranty in doing so. Take is as a lesson learn.. don't ever cheapsake on your purchase.. you get what you paid for....
