Guys, is it 1st credit card of applicants will not get charged on the Goverment Service Tax RM50?
*
QUOTE(zero5177 @ Jun 9 2014, 12:01 PM)
Cause I heard from my siblings said something like 1st credit card can claim back the GST from somewhere else...
*
QUOTE(zero5177 @ Jun 9 2014, 12:16 PM)
Ohh okay, cause my siblings told me "actually 1st credit card the government tax is refundable" or something like that, so I thought like government encourage us to have 1 credit card or something like that...and I have been paying it for 1 year for my only credit card  tongue.gif
*
no, first credit card will also be charged with rm50 gst.
but some banks will absorb the rm50 gst for the first year (pay on your behalf to gov) if you apply and use their credit card.

I think it should be 24x7, especially if it is an international 1300/1800 number. If I'm purchasing something online or I'm overseas, the full CS support must be there, even if they are in different time zone.
*
what do you mean by international 1300/1800 number? 1300/1800 numbers are for domestic calls within a country.

QUOTE(PhakFuhZai @ Jun 13 2014, 10:32 PM)
In a situation like below:

1- Went to a handphone shop, swiped my PBB credit card, intended to make the transaction into 6 months instalment, however the sales assistant made a mistake when operating the CC terminal

2- the transaction went through, I received a call and SMS from PBB, however, the receipt did not came out from the shop's CC terminal

3- merchant bank is the same as my card issuer bank (PBB), they have called PBB requested to cancel the transaction, they claimed that cancellation  has been done from PBB operator end

4- I called PBB separately to double verify, but the transaction is still in pending

5- Shop said they were unable to cancel the transaction from their terminal, they showed me all the CC transactions made today, my card wasn't listed, according to them, they can't make the settlement for my transaction

6-  According to PBB, the transaction will be cancelled if the mercant has not made settlement within 10 working days

7- Shop issued me a memo detailing the situation, they will follow up with bank the next day. So, card swiped but cannot take the phone back home sad.gif

===
anyone here had a similar situation before? I encountered one time before but the shop was able to cancel the transaction, but not this time.

anyway, can the shop proceed to make settlement without a signed receipt?

will the transaction be posted to statement when the transaction is still pending?

the ambiguity part is: can they make settlement under this condition?
*
since the shop issued you a memo detailing the whole situation, there is nothing to worry about. the memo is sufficient for you to make a dispute if the shop make settlement without your consent (which i don't think they will make settlement anyway).

Let say my statement amount is rm1500.
due date 2 July
can i pay rm 500 at 15 Jun and then pay another rm1000 at 1 july?

means i separate the amount within the interest free period, in total the bank should also received rm1500 which is the statement amount before the due date.

just want to confirm if they will treat the first rm500 payment as i paid the minimum balance and proceed to charge me finiancial interest?
*
yes, you can pay in this way, don't worry. they only charge you interest on whatever outstanding balance (if any) after your due date (2/7).

Actually kinda make sense too although it will eat into your effective % of maybank2card.

MBB2: for every year: RM12000 spending gives u RM600 cash back + 60000TP - 10000TP for GST
MBB Ikhwan: for every year: RM12000 spending gives u RM600 cash back + 12000 TP - 10000TP for GST

Total benefit p.a. for RM24000 spending is RM12000 + 52000 TP

Assuming we get RM50 for 12500 TP, e.g. petrol voucher: 52000 TP will give you RM200 + 2000TP

Effective cashback = RM1200 + RM200 = RM1400 (5.8333%)
compare with PBB Visa signature and HLB wise... close fight tongue.gif
*
correction: 12,500 tp for rm50 gst

For Visa/Mastercard, What's the interest rate charges
incurred for not paying the full amount owed?
*
you owe the interest to the bank not visa/master. different banks set different interest rates for your unpaid balance. you need to check with your cc bank.

Is it a norm for you to disclose your payslips to the banks in your credit card application? I understand they are bound by confidentiality but my contract clearly states that my salary should not be revealed to third parties... Any thoughts or experiences?
*
it should be alright to disclose for loan or credit card application purposes. unless the person who is handling your application is not trustable or someone who knows you and go spread to your friends.

QUOTE(mar90 @ Jul 6 2014, 12:19 AM)
Dear sifu, would like to ask one question.

Does having many credit cards affect the amount of max personal loan bank will approve?

Example: John has 2 credit cards with limit of 10k each (but no outstanding amount). When John apply personal loan his bank will only approve 20k.

If John cancel 1 credit card, does the bank will approve for 30k instead?

Hope someone can answer this. Thank you...
*
yes, it does affect because there are chances that you will fully utilise all your available credit limit in all your cc when you are in need of money.

however, different banks analyse the risk factors differently. based on the same situation and criterias, bank A may approve a 20k loan to you, while bank B 30k. and with a cc cancelled, bank A 30k and bank B 40k. there's no fixed value for all banks because each bank have their own sets of factors to analyse the risks before approving a loan to you.

Thank you very much for detailed explaination notworthy.gif

you are welcome. although it's good to apply loan at different banks due to each bank analyse differently, but do not apply too many at one time as you will show your desperation in getting a loan which will hurt your rating.

Bro, reread your quote - it says RM50 for Maybankard 2 Card. Not Cards. Just kidding with you  tongue.gif
Maybank does have the rights to change any clause anytime. However, I think they need to give us Notice like they previously did when they revised the 5X TP to 2X TP for Education, Insurance and Government Agencies. But then again. we were not given Notice when they inflated Treats Points for redeeming stuff.

Anyway, if you got time to waste, click here to my article Maybankard 2 Cards GST Is Now RM100. Mentioned both Human Nature and cybpsych initiatives to inform existing cardholders of the good news  biggrin.gif
*
nice article again as always... thumbup.gif

let me quote your article on your credits part to cybpsych and Human Nature.

QUOTE
Last but not least. two members at LYN going by usernames Human Nature and cybpsych by  did seek clarification with Maybank and was informed that the new RM100 GST is only applied to those who applied on or after 9 July 2014. Well, please take the time to report here if this is the case, i.e. you are still being credited RM50 (to offset GST) into your AMEX account where your card anniversary date falls after 9 July 2014.

Hey guys, just realized that credit card is a complicated stuff! So my objective is to get cashback on petrol pumping. I don't have the requirement for platinum card yet so here are my choices after some research:

1. maybank 2 gold card. The porblem with this is the RM100 GST charges. I probably spend RM200 petrol/mth, and only weekend can get 5% quite troublesome. (just breakeven!)

2. HSBC?? . This one also.. only 5% weekends..

Any better suggestion?  I used to remember last time 5% daily, everyday.  laugh.gif
*
5% daily everyday:
1) uob one
2) citibank cb platinum

But the 900k monthly quota set by UOB usually runs out by the 15th of every month....so the card is pretty much useless for the later part of the month !
*
last month i tried one transaction on 26/6 and i still received the 5% on this month's statement. maybe many stopped using by 15th so the 900k still not run out yet and i still get the 5%. icon_rolleyes.gif
