can u give side line instruction when game is going on? i saw something about it on the Fm tips.

and oh when you buy new players how long do they gel in ? i sold and bought 2 defenders from my previous 4. The new comers all have higher stats than the leavers but my defence has been leaky and they are not playing well at all. some players i bought made an instant impact tho.

Err that is pretty hard to actually explain it to you. Read the side line instructions one by one to suit your style.
It is depends on how you want your players to play. If you emphasize on more one-two and quick passing or long ball crosses and across the field passes, well.. put the appropriate side line shout.

Err that too depends on the adaptability. The more players from same nation and players who can speak the same language, the quicker they integrate with the other players.

Defense leaky hmm... Check your defensive line. If you have low acceleration and pace defender, you might wanna turn off the higher defensive line instructions.
Let say you are leaking from side, you'll need to play your LB/RB as Fullback Support/Wingback Support with either your two normal CD Defense to CD Cover and CD Stopper or two normal CD Defense and DM Defense to Halfback.
And oh, play the offside trap instructions.
And another one, player roles. Close down more, mark tightly and tackle harder for all Defensive players. Just make sure your players has enough stamina+work rate to do so.

i tried one tactic , set all my players to specifically mark 1 of their opponent player. like CD mark ST, LB mark their RM...

end up no one is marking no one. concede 4 -0 in 20 min

I never use mark specifically because I believe CPU roam almost everywhere in the pitch and never stays in the same position. That were going to draw out their your own players position and resulted to concede and messy play.

just get plug and play tactic. there is plenty out there and I believe some of the FM-ers here has it too.

Hi are there any good ideas on how to protect a lead? Lets say i am 2-0 up @ HT. during the second half the opponent will throw everything at me. And i often give away my lead eg 2-2, 3-3. They will press hard and play aggressively. I tried going defensive and defending deep but it will just invite pressure. What else can i do?

only good defending stats but slowpoke as hell sure will die

intelligent strikers will lose man-marking defenders in just half a turn so you might get your ass whipped against good strikers so adjust accordingly

Hi guys, i just started to play football manager 2014 and i choose to manage Chelsea. During preseason, my team play ok but epl first match against stoke, my team lost 2-1 away. And my fabregas not performing. Below is my tactic:

Goalkeeper: Courtois
Defender: Azpilicueta (left), Terry and Balanta (center), Ivanovic (right)
Midfield: Fabregas and Mikel (center), Hazard (AMC), Schurrle (left), Oscar (right)
Forward: Diego Costa (target man)

Can sifus please teach me... The match with Stoke both bolos from my left. And 1 more preseason match against deportivo, my team lost 4-1 away, and 2 were conceded during corner...
