In SCB Gold Cashback, you must understand these 2 terms
1. cashback transactions
2. retail purchases

cashback transactions
means all retail purchases (local and international) but excludes all types of
transactions made at petrol stations or petrol kiosks including purchases of petrol, and any type of insurance payments

The 2%/3%/5% cashback is based on the amount of cashback transactions

cashback transactions IS PART OF retail purchases

You are right, you will only get RM40.

Total spending of RM1500 just to activate the 5% rebate.

Minimum is RM250 I am afraid.

I didnt bother to pursue last time as only used the card a couple of time.

I have now spent RM1450 on retail transactions (not insurance/petrol).
Can I just spend RM50 more on petrol to enjoy RM50 cb? Or must be pure retail ?

I called CS just now but he sounded very firm that I need to spend RM50 on pure retail.

So if I spend 1.5K, the effective rate for me is 3.33%. If I spend 833, the effective rate for me is 3%.

If I know I cannot hit 1.5K that month, I'll just hit 833 and keep the card away and use other card. Am I right?

Are they basing it on calendar month or statement period?

i think we can get 5% (provided you have spend RM1.5k) and zero cost for this IW bill (bestter than posonline) but i have to confirm with you later

if we spend more than RM1.5k, eg rRM2k, is the RM500 would get zero cash rebate?

Yesterday I checked with the CS, she told me is based on calendar month not statement date and based on posting date.
As you read through the t n c, it mentioned first of the month and end of the month.

6) Meaning of words
CashBack Gold MasterCard means the Standard Chartered CashBack Gold MasterCard Credit
Card.
cashback means the cash rebate explained in Clause 5 given to you calculated on the percentage
of money you spend in retail transactions on your CashBack Gold MasterCard and supplementary
cards, as shown in your credit card statement.

A month is defined as the period which runs from the first day of a particular calendar month to
the last day of that calendar month. Retail purchases must be posted to your account within a
particular month to be included towards meeting the minimum of RM500 per month in retail
purchases. If a transaction is posted in the following month, it will only be included in the
following month’s calculation. Please note that transactions may be posted by the merchant as
late as 30 days after the transaction date.

Got my card today
May 05: Apply via RP and key in information in SCB website from links provided by RP
May 09: Agent approach via email and sent supporting document for CC application
May 20: received SMS on temporary password
May 23: received card via poslaju

There are very limited statement date for me to choose:  31, 1, 2, 3 4, 6, 8, 9

I register for the SMS transaction alert but there is no option for me to select threshold. I remember from few post in front mention we cannot set to RM1, is that true? then what is the minimum?

found the setting for threshold and set to rm250.
the default was RM1000 but I received sms on the USD $1 charged during linking to paypal 
also my purchase in 400++ via paypal able to receive sms in previous RM1000 threshold setting.

The only thing i didnt received sms is the IWK payment via SCB website.
btw, the cashback is based on calendar month, right? which mean i spend minimum 500 by May 31 i will get at least the 2% cashback, right?

Used the cashback gold card to pay LHDN and got my RM50 cashback.

My April 2016 Rebate is posted on 23 May 2016 for RM50.00 (payment to LHDN)

I also receive cashback on 23th and redeemed on 24th which is today

cashback gold master u need to redeem manually.. just click ur cashback gold master and click "Redeem Rewards now" beside "bonus point available" .. try it

what do u mean by which date is ready to be redeem for cb?

cashback posted usually within 1-3 working days
