Nvidia plans to make the technology available two different ways. First, those of you with existing monitors — otherwise known as “everyone” — will be able to upgrade an Asus VG248QE display with a standalone kit. No word on whether everyone who doesn’t own a VG248QE display will be able to upgrade or not, or whether the upgrade will be available on Asus monitors in that family at the 27-inch size.

We’re pushing the limits with Star Citizen, and this commercial is our best example yet. It’s rendered 100% in-engine in real time at 4k resolution. We scale everything for the super high resolutions that will be the basis of tomorrow’s gaming experience; our assets are designed with high polycounts instead of having details baked into their textures. That’s a big part of why NVIDIA and AMD have been demoing Star Citizen at 4k! The next generation of CPUs and GPUs will make this kind of experience possible in gameplay, and we are building Star Citizen to be ready. With the Hornet commercial, we wanted to give our backers an early look. If you have a 4k-compatible monitor, select “Original” from the video settings on YouTube (or download the 4k file directly here. ) If you don’t, 1080p is highly recommended.

Sauce: INTRODUCING THE HORNET LINE FROM ANVIL AEROSPACE

I wonder if one 290x is sufficient to play this maxed out at 1080p/1440p. hmm.gif

Yes to 1080p without MSAA. But 1440p isn't possible at 60fps yet, not at least until (hopefully) Mantle is baked into the game.
*
Can Chris Robert implement Mantle without Crytek consent since Cry Engine 3 is used to power up Star Citizen? hmm.gif

Looks like it comes with BF4... (according to the box)
Considering you will get free CPU cooler and BF4...  I think the price is pretty fine... tongue.gif
*
Yeah, BF4 is around RM150 and the cooler is around RM200.

they will let them but maybe a month or 2 after launch date.

Some of you have expressed concern over the GPU running at 95C. Be assured, that 95C is a perfectly safe temperature at which the GPU can operate for its entire life. There is no technical reason to reduce the target temperature below 95C. However, like all aspects of PowerTune, this is completely within the control of the end user. If you would rather have you GPU operate at a lower temperature, such as 85C or 73C, we strongly encourage you to customize it to your preference and write about it in your review. This is, after all, the reason that we design products with this level of flexibility.

ASUS DirectCU II versions with Super Alloy Power and OC/TOP pre-overclocks will follow in the coming months.

Nah, Prolimatech MK-26 did a good job cooling 290x. You can get one for around RM250 in garage sale.

Synthetic benches of 290x@1200/6000 here and you can find leaked R9-290 synthetic performance benchmark on the first page of the thread.

QUOTE(ruffstuff @ Oct 26 2013, 10:59 PM)
Linus opinion about Mantle and G-Sync

Discussion start at 1:27:43

Points to highlight:-
Mantle
-it's not done, performance is unknown
-frosbite engine developer not sure about mantle performance
-there should be dramatic performance improvement in BF4, if no, mantle will be a failure
-developer participation is unknown
-coding in mantle will not be the same across GCN, but there is similarities.

G-Sync
-Huge thing
-lot of people have wrong idea of G-sync and what it's actually solved
-it improves latency
-it runs fantastic at even lower fps than 60
-hardware issues; only for kepler, TN panel monitors sucks
-hoping nvidia license the tech to amd/intel, and hoping g-sync will make it into hdtv and ips panel
-gaming in 4k is horrible without g-sync
In before Linus being paid by nvidia.  brows.gif
*
Both tech need a year or two to actually see an impact, though gsync could last forever IF its not proprietary.

QUOTE(zhen^wei @ Oct 27 2013, 12:48 AM)
it will selling at GTX770 price.

how good is the card ? hmm.gif

QUOTE(RaePyng @ Oct 29 2013, 04:01 PM)
For those who has purchased R9 280x earlier including myself

http://www.guru3d.com/news_story/amd_to_up...phics_card.html

AMDs R9 280X might still be using the oritinal 7970 GHZ edition XT2 Tahiti GPU and replace it with Tahiti XTL next month. Apparantly the Tahiti XTL GPU was not ready for the launch and all current Radeon R9 280X graphics cards ended up with the Tahiti XT2 GPU instead. Various sources confirm that AMD will do a, so called, "running change", where there will be no announcements and no name change for the new GPU and the only way you would be able to tell which GPU is behind the R9 280X is by its BIOS version.

Of course, nothing is carved in stone as AMD can simply decide to launch a different named graphics cards with Tahiti XTL chip but currently the plan is to do a running change.

Apparently, Tahiti XTL should have a lower power consumption and thus should be easier to cool. We will surely keep an eye out and our ear close to the ground in order to spot the new GPU in November.
If the source of news is true, then this would be unfair for those who purchased R9 280x and could be a misselling as some GPU manufacturer claimed that they are selling R9 280x with Tahiti XTL chipset.

I have actually contacted Sapphire to see what's their view on this and to be updated further.

Anyone can verify this and your views?
*
Current 280X using Tahiti XTL and what AMD is preparing right now is the replacement for 7950 imo. BIOS from 280x show Tahiti XTL instead of Tahiti XT2

The rumour originally posted from WCCFTECH which is less accurate than semiaccurate. doh.gif http://wccftech.com/amd-preparing-tahiti-x...x-graphic-card/

Radeon R9 290 (non-X) Launch Pushed Back a Week

Launch of AMD's Radeon R9 290 (non-X) is reportedly pushed back by a week, to Tuesday, November 5, 2013. The card was expected to launch on October 31, 2013. The reason for this delay? AMD reportedly developed a new driver that significantly improves performance on the R9 290. AMD pushed this driver onto reviewers at the last minute, and asked them to re-bench their R9 290 samples from scratch, extending their NDA till the 5th. The driver reportedly makes the R9 290 extremely competitive with GeForce GTX 780. A side-effect of that would be that the recently launched Radeon R9 290X could be rendered unattractive. It remains to be seen if the driver also proportionately improves performance on the R9 290X, and how AMD ends up pricing the R9 290.

I just hope the price will be really attractive here in Msia.
