QUOTE(nsiboro @ Oct 11 2013, 12:32 AM)
TOXIC = when you don't want to play the overclock lottery/game. Already tested to run stable Factory OC-speed

VAPOR-X = vapor-chamber, better heat transfer, slightly lower temps, useful in our weather or you don't have AC in your room/workstation

DUAL-X = vanilla, want to OC yourself, wants sauna in your case (if your case is not well ventilated may make your motherboard components & CPU hotter = lower OC, instability, etc.)
ahhh well the part about Dual-X is rather misleading.

all the above will make your casing a sauna because they dissipate heat well.

the better the cooling, the more sauna your case is because heat is dissipated faster to the case.

part in bracket for the Dual-X applies to Toxic and Vapor-X

I suggest u grab the Asus Sabertooth 990FX mobo ~RM600, it comes with extra 2 years warranty definitely worth it and it is extra reliable. That Asrock board is kinda bad.
QUOTE(Boldnut @ Oct 15 2013, 06:59 AM)
because that particular Asrock board does not support 125w FX CPU?
http://www.asrock.com/mb/NVIDIA/N68C-GS%20FX/?cat=CPU
dude, you gotta choose your words man.

a board doesn't support it doesn't mean it's bad.

even if it's a bad choice for the person asking, that doesn't mean the board is bad.

get it?

normally sound recording exaggerated the audio level by a lot. biggrin.gif also depends on how close is the recording device.

no, sometimes the BSOD is not defect, it's just AMD drivers are rather wonky.

I had a same machine with HD 3450 / HD 5450 / HD 7790 and HD 7970.

The HD 7970 works with the latest drivers but not the rest.
The HD 7790 needed it's dedicated driver, and will not work with legacy or latest drivers.
The HD 3450 will only work with legacy drivers.

NecroPhilia could you take note of the file mentioned during BSOD? It might be same issue as i was facing.

I solved it by disabling some stuff.

oh i thought there's BSOD.

could be just graphic card having problem. even my HD 5450 was a nutter, the most 'angin' card I ever used.

For now, ignore all those beta drivers. Just stick to the usual drivers. Does the screen look fine before driver install?

as my 7970ghz works with any driver. hence the above. hmm.gif
my 7970 ghz certainly did not work properly when 7790 and legacy drivers exist. It was around the early Catalyst 13 days, before 13.4 I believe.

that was just a few months ago, search for HD 3xxx drivers and you'll be pointed to legacy drivers, same goes to HD 7790.

this is not the case for the past few Catalyst revisions.

nah, the nVidia driver won't cause any issues. Windows won't have conflict on such petty matters.

I've had so many AMD and nVidia cards together on same OS. NEVER had any issues regardless GTX 5, 6, or 7 series.

The only ones giving me problem are AMD to AMD cards. really strange.

According to review from Techpowerup, no difference in performance for 1GB vs. 2GB on 1080p resolution and below. 1600p above will highly recommend to go with 2GB version.
this is correct.

I did an R7 260X CFX setup http://www.goldfries.com/hardware-reviews/...a-worthy-setup/

2GB vs 1GB on the HD 7790 setup.

no difference at 1080p.

Higher resolution would require faster GPU so the HD 7850 wouldn't cut it, regardless of VRAM.

Can i know the exact graphic setting you used to benchmark Sleeping Dogs? Because 45-ish is way too low for a 7970 Ghz at this setting.
the image you quoted is of a GTX 760 la.

Yeah, i took that from your MSI GTX760 review.

Card Score
MSI GTX 760 55.8
ASUS GTX 670 56.3
Sapphire HD 7970 Ghz Edition 45.5
yup. the score is as it is.

i also was puzzled, settings unchanged but framerate is as such.

i didn't believe it to but after a few card swapping, it just seems to be like that.

I have some R9 280X to test so we'll see if the score is different. I also have newer drivers now.

You need ASIC miner for Bitcoin, normal consumer grade computer won't cut it anymore, the difficulty went of the chart since ASIC miner took off, only Litecoin and Dogecoin? still profitable for normal consumer i think.

Here's a list of coins for your reference.

http://dustcoin.com/

SHA - ASIC miners
SCRYPT - GPU miners

biggrin.gif ASIC for SCRYPT is said to be under development.

anyway going off topic.

guys, please don't stray off-topic for too far or too long - this reminder is especially to those who like to "chat".

Serves em right when the Chinese government declared bitcoin illegal and made it lost 50% in value.  rclxms.gif

1. They did not declare it illegal. China just restricts yuan exchanges
2. Lost about 50% of the highest recorded value BUT I guess what you didn't realize is that it already went up again, and it's still more than 1000% the value of what it was.

oh and you guys better start learn to edit the post that you quoted. If it's a long post, you can just leave the first and last line and remove the rest of the content.

Bloody bitcoin miners basically bought every damn 290/290X available on the planet.

FYI - Bitcoin miners DO NOT buy AMD GPU.

They did last year, and maybe 2 years ago but certainly not for the last 2 quarters of 2013. Not anymore.

Oh and let's not wish people evil just because the stock ran out and may have raise in price.

Nah, I'm just adding information that Bitcoin miners will not buy AMD GPU already these days. ASIC miners out-do AMD GPUs by far.

If anyone uses an R9 280X for Bitcoin, they could only fetch 5.40 USD per month at the current difficulty.

R9 290X maybe about 7 USD. smile.gif

Casual miners hoping to make a quick buck are disappointed. smile.gif LiteCoin is now half what it was about 2 weeks ago but still 8 times more than what it was many months back.

As for the cooler, I'm getting the soon.

Thanks for the tip bro but I'm only willing to spend a max of around Rm450 which is off my budget already. I can't seem to find any R7 260 anywhere.. Any suggestions where i can find it?
R7 260X is the commonly available on. Haven't seen any R7 260.

If you want cheap, just get a HD 7790 1GB OC. Works the same anyway.
