went to Digi centre to register my Maybank Amex card, then made payment via phone on Saturday, mana tau they only process it on Monday... -__-
to use Amex on weekend you'd have to go Digi centre itself
*
that's why i always go extra mile to pay my maxis bill at the counter itself
pay at counter, then got 2 sms for confirmation of payment. 1 from maxis, 1 from maybank icon_rolleyes.gif

5400 is MasterCard
3791 is AMEX

but amex got zing card meh?
*
usually it was supposed to be linked to MC/Visa card only
i called them CS up, ask to change Zing auto-deduct to amex
success!
so, when auto deduct, straight away got 500 TP rather than 100TP brows.gif

500TP = RM2, so auto reload actually is FOC, but need to ensure is RM100 per reload
*
it will always auto reload RM100, when balance is less than RM50.
and i will actually get 510 TP, including that RM2 auto reload charge

so basically free auto reload + 10 extra TP...those 10 points may go a looong way

would like to check with you, if there possible auto reload flow on weekends ? have you experience this before??

asking this because actually we can slight adjust by auto reload flow on weekends to entitled for 5% plus x5 point.
*
usually it will depend on transaction date, not posting date
so you may try and aim for weekend auto charging.
although, usually TnG ppl would only process payment on working days. so, it's a hit and miss thing

Okay, sound like interested... May I know how do you apply for it?? Is this can be done by walk in to card centre to request for it?
*
my way is:
apply for normal TnG Zing 1st. link it with your MC/Visa (since that's the only option that you have on the application form)
get the card activated first. you may have to do 1-time transaction at any major toll plaza first for the card to be activated 1st.
after the card activated, call CS to change Zing usage to your Amex.
done!

walked in to card center at 1u branch just now that to apply for Zing card, a form will need to be fill up, and there have option for Master/Visa & Amex.

Obviously, Amex is the prefer option to be choose. Process time: 2 weeks, a call from CS will be received if the card is ready to be collected.

One time charge fee: RM10
Auto reload per transaction: RM2

As above charge are same with MBB website.

Besides, I have asked how about the cancellation. The balance will be transfer to your saving account if there has any.

wow!
quite different compared to during my registration of Zing card then
good to know that registration can straight away link to amex thumbup.gif

QUOTE(Current Events guy @ Jan 2 2014, 06:54 PM)
I'm in the process of deciding which credit card to apply for and the Maybank 2 cc was recommended to me by the guys at kopitiam.

I've looked around for info on the card and I think I have a decent idea on how to go about the application process. I went into the klcc branch an hour ago and they can definitely process it immediately if you send in a request before 4pm. They also accept applications all week long including weekends but you will only get your card the next business day. Also, this office closes at 7pm.

Another thing I've learned is that they only need your ic, 2 months salary and 3 month bank statements. No mention of the epf or tax records.

I have three questions that I haven't been able to clear yet:
1. Do I need to get the cards first before I can ask them to link it to a single m2u account or do I need to have the card in hand first? I do not have a checking or savings  with Maybank.

2. How is payment done if I do not have a CASA? Can I just use climb clicks or do I need to do it personally at the Maybank branch?

3. Are statements sent electronically to my email or in paper form to my home? Can I make payment immediately after I use the cc or is it wise to wait until I get the statement and pay it off in one go?
*
oh hi there! saw your thread in kopitiam...

1. a simple maybank account is good enough. not much required for opening new account there. then, straight away register m2u. but since your not getting the card yet, better register for the card 1st, then open CASA later.

2. better as well to make payment at branch. i mean, there's a lot of them around...a lot of them around Malaysia..

3. payment patterns will differ from person to person. i suggest waiting for the statement first, then pay off the amount stated inside the statement. duration between statement date -> due date is 20 days, so should be ample time to clear off any outstanding then

Yup steampowered.com

However this is the first time I'm using the card so there might have been some hiccups on how they charged the funds.

I'll try it once more and update you guys. The whole Christmas season then could also screw up the dates.

Sidetopic, exchange rates charged by AMEX (to a smaller extent visa/MC too) are quite exorbitant. 900 pips they are charging. Has anyone had tried asking to be billed in the foreign currency instead of MYR?

E.g. I paid online for USD50, they bill me USD50 instead of MYRxxx.

We can always open our own USD account in Maybank. Retail customers are charged circa 300-350 pips, much less than the 900 by AMEX. I personally have access to cost pricing myself.
*
i bought my games using amex card.so far, posting date will be delayed for a few days. this is especially true during the holidays (which is now). but it will be posted eventually. transaction date will depend on what is the time you actually perform the transaction at their local time.... so, to utilise cashback weekend, better spend on Saturdays noon onwards.
