I'm in the process of deciding which credit card to apply for and the Maybank 2 cc was recommended to me by the guys at kopitiam.
I've looked around for info on the card and I think I have a decent idea on how to go about the application process. I went into the klcc branch an hour ago and they can definitely process it immediately if you send in a request before 4pm. They also accept applications all week long including weekends but you will only get your card the next business day. Also, this office closes at 7pm.
Another thing I've learned is that they only need your ic, 2 months salary and 3 month bank statements. No mention of the epf or tax records.
I have three questions that I haven't been able to clear yet:
1. Do I need to get the cards first before I can ask them to link it to a single m2u account or do I need to have the card in hand first? I do not have a checking or savings with Maybank.
2. How is payment done if I do not have a CASA? Can I just use climb clicks or do I need to do it personally at the Maybank branch?
3. Are statements sent electronically to my email or in paper form to my home? Can I make payment immediately after I use the cc or is it wise to wait until I get the statement and pay it off in one go?
oh hi there! saw your thread in kopitiam...
1. a simple maybank account is good enough. not much required for opening new account there. then, straight away register m2u. but since your not getting the card yet, better register for the card 1st, then open CASA later.
2. better as well to make payment at branch. i mean, there's a lot of them around...a lot of them around Malaysia..
3. payment patterns will differ from person to person. i suggest waiting for the statement first, then pay off the amount stated inside the statement. duration between statement date -> due date is 20 days, so should be ample time to clear off any outstanding then
