the volt must be same...............check correctly before use, otherwise dangerous

Depends on the component quality also.
I've been using Samsung charger to charge my phone since the first day I got my phone. The charging time is longer because of slightly lower voltage but I don't see any adverse effect on my phone & charger.

Anbody can teach me how to view TWRP and Titanium Backup on computer? Also i can't copy the file to my com.
*
You should able to view to view the files from your internal memory/TWRP or Titanium Backup folders.
If you cannot view then you might have to enable debugging mode & use adb shell to check your internal memory directory.

To copy the files you can copy paste the folder as usual or use adb pull command.
Personally I always use adb method because Android's MTP if piece of unreliable sh*t.

Kinda sad to see the scratches on my Nexus 4's back.

Been a week + & Google still isn't releasing any info regarding 4.4 updates for other Nexus devices. And there's no leaked system images also...

Problem is not about some half baked ROM.HTC spokesperson announced that HTC One GPE 4.4 update should be ready 15 days after 4.4 update announced. And I'm pretty sure Samsung is ready with their update for S4 GPE also (their software delivery rate is much better than the stability itself).
If Google want to wait for GPE devices before starting the update I think it's not a reasonable excuse.

true true. do they nid to push the rom to the companies for editting still or just pushing the rom out? i dun get the GPE process. if google is pushing update themselve, it makes a bit of sense since it came out later than n4, but if its sent to the companies, and its slower than ours, tats slowwwwww
*
GPE devices update is still kinda mystery.
OEM say Google handle the hardware adaptation & function updates but Google say OEM will deliver updates themselves.
I think Google will just take care of the entire system update but it is up to the OEM when they want to push the update.

Back to Nexus story,I wonder how long will the Nexus devices will have to wait for the update & how many features will be Nexus 5 exclusive.
I found the whole "Google Experience Launcer is a Nexus 5 exclusive" thing to be a stupid idea. The launcher file itself is mostly dummy file nowdays.Since the Google search is in pretty much all Android devices why not push the experience too all Android devices? It's a good thing if more people use Google stuff right?

patients my friend smile.gif

I think the official KK for N4 might involve radio updates as well, as happens in the past. Compiling KK looks easy, many KK ROMs already available, but we are not sure yet on the radio, and official LTE as well, maybe not for our region though.

snapdragon 800 has the always on chip to detect the "ok google", so that might make the google experience exclusive for N5. so, full KK experience really depends on the hardware it's running as well, not similar for all.
*
Well yeah, Nexus devices major updates usually do have baseband update but surely Google employees had ample time to prepare for the updates? 4.3 update was done within a week of announcement.

Forget about the LTE.LTE in Nexus 4 will NEVER work properly because N4 lacks the LTE signal amplifier.

Google's implementation of voice control isn't as extensive as Motorola. You need to unlock Nexus 5 in order to use the voice command. I don't think this type of voice will kill the battery life. Google can always give option to turn this function off.

QUOTE(cowithgun @ Nov 11 2013, 05:40 PM)
the delay of OTA 4.4 could be caused by dm-verity.

http://source.android.com/devices/tech/sec.../dm-verity.html

in the past few updates, Nexus OTA uses binary patch. so, the OTA you download only contain the differences (patch) in a binary form. so, the OTA is small. but the requirement is that the original file is required.

old file + patch = new file

so, for custom ROM/kernel, even if u just modify 1 byte in build.prop, the update will fail. you can do the bin patch yourself with OTA using this tool: http://www.daemonology.net/bsdiff/

the dm-verity, take things to the next level. the hash is calculated block by block (typical 4k size) instead of file by file.

any future updates (OTA) as advised by that link should use block update method. this kind of update is mostly for kernel/radio and should not affect end user app, which is not protected by dm-verity.

or... may be the delay simply caused by qualcomm or other manufacturer late in providing the update binary? (since source is up for sure)
*
Plausible but it's more likely Qualcomm have something with the delay.

I wonder whether block updating method need the system to be updated before it can be implemented or it worls with existing system?

Snapdragon 800 has always on chipset? Never heard that before. Any source to read on that?

Btw, Nexus 5 doesn't listen while it's sleeping unlike Moto X which has a dedicated co-processor that handles all the sensors in its X8 chipset. Nexus 5 only listens when the screen is on according to what I read on some reviews.
*
S800 doesn't have dedicated voice processing core like Moto's X8 but the energy efficient Krait 400 cores enables the somewhat moderate always on voice recognition.
The voice recognition from homescreen is part of "Google Experience" launcher. Nexus 5 might be capable of Moto X's always on voice like trick but I think the battery life will suffer because of it.

Ya... That's what I think...

Having a low power co-processor like Motorola X8 or Apple M7 (for a different purpose though) is good because it prevents the main processor from getting involved when only minor processing needed (ie. When the phone is asleep). Besides always on speech recognition, I believe the co-processor in X8 also handles the active display so the display will light up when a notification comes in, without engaging the main processor.

However, I don't think S800 has a dedicated core to achieve these features without a hit in the battery life. Who knows? biggrin.gif Maybe it can be scaled to run a lowest frequency with 3 out of 4 cores going into deep sleep?  hmm.gif
*
Specialized core is unnecessary for active display IMO. AMOLED screen is more important for Active Display. Reason is AMOLED screen only light up specific part of pixels when the screen activated. IPS display meanwhile will light up all the pixels when activated. The difference between power consumption is why AMOLED screen is preferred by Google/Motorola for Moto X.

How do you guys enable usb otg for nexus 4?
*
You'll be needing a microUSB Y cable,a powerbank & a custom kernel with OTG patch. You need to connect 1 part of the Y cable to flash drive & another to power bank.Connect the microUSB port to the Nexus 4. Make sure you flash a supported custom kernel before you do this.

I guess it's another round of "Why Nexus 4 lacks OTG"

Nexus 4 is using Qualcomm APQ8064 SOC. This is the application variant of SOC compared to MSM SOC which usually is the preferred OSC by OEMs for smartphones & tablets.
The main difference between APQ & MSM SOC is lack of build in modem in APQ SOCs.OEM's usually add sort of external modem to utilize APQ 8064 SOC in smartphones & tablets. However for some reason LG used different method of integrating the modem with the SOC (which I think might have something do to with the existence of LTE in Nexus 4 board). Since the "extra slot" went to modem the SOC is unable to power up devices in USB host mode which requires 5V.

To cut short the story,Nexus 4 does support USB host but due to design flaw the USB device requires external power in order to work properly.

RAGE!!!

first you don't support Galaxy Nexus!

now, no transparent bars!

http://phandroid.com/2013/11/12/nexus-7-10...er-with-kitkat/

i give Google -1 for these...
*
Google will release Google search app update either today or tomorrow. Hold your gun till then.

If the google launcher still doesn't make it to N4/N7/10 then it's probably due any of following reason:
i)Performance issue while switching from full screen to on-screen key mode.
ii)Exclusive S800's always listening mode which make N5 as the only Nexus device capable of google launchers all features.
iii)Google just being d*ck.

Don't forget NOT to flash userdata.img else your internal storage will be cleannnnnn biggrin.gif

Just do a Titanium backup & do adb pull /
Your internal memory will be safe & sound.

QUOTE(Bugeca @ Nov 15 2013, 09:37 AM)
Nope, you need to use Fastboot method or nexus toolkit software.

Use any decompressing software that able to handle Tar format and extract it twice.
*
Just forget about the toolkit stuff & use fastboot. It's not that hard.Sometimes the toolkit just cause extra problems.
If you still unsure on how to use fastboot wait for OTA.Should be popping up in coming days.

You cannot simply use any decompressing application. I recommend 7zip. App like WinRAR don't extract all the files.

QUOTE(annoymous1234 @ Nov 15 2013, 09:52 AM)
So fast? Afraid some apps still not compatible, think I'm gonna wait a few more weeks.
So nexus 4 got transparent bar and GEL or not?
*
You'll be surprised to know how many app developers already updated their apps for Android 4.4.
I think GEL will be absent from stock ROM.But with yesterday's search app update you can just sideload GEL get all the Nexus launcher goodies.

Another thing that I'm happy with 4.4 release is we're done with dual JWR/JSS Android release. That was a mess.... Plus that screen freeze issue....

@cowithgun
I think it's better add extra guide to flash latest custom/stock recovery because some users still on older recoveries & those recoveries have some issues with 4.4.

Can you enlighten me where the fastboot folder located at?
*
Navigate to the folder where you installed adt.
From that folder navigate to sdk->platform-tools
Both adb & fastboot file will be there.

In my case I installed my adt in C:\adt\sdk\platform-tools directory & just added a system path to this directory. This way I can execute adb in cmd without the need to navigate to this directory everytime I want to flash.

I didn't see any such error but I do think Google changed something with the mediascanner because some media scanning apps crashes in KitKat.

Ah...The infamous 8GB restriction...
And here I thought the issue went away after the 4.3.

Go to stock recovery, clear cache & factory reset your device.
You MUST use stock recovery.
